Do any of you do cosplay? I do not, but it does look cool. I know that there are many people who are fans of final fantasy VIII and who can get the look near perfect. It's always amazing to me to see some photo of someone who looks exactly like Squall, or dressed exactly like Quistis. If any of you do cosplay, then post you pics for us to see.:mog:

Wow that Squall is very good. But man where do you get a gunblade like that? O.o looks so good.

As for me I don't do cosplay, well not yet at least, me and some friends might cosplay some for the upcoming anime convention coming up, but then again most of us are lazy.

But ya cosplaying is pretty sweet, at the convention I went to last January there was a good deal of FF characters. Many many Squalls, Clouds, and Aurons, plus a few random other characters, and I did see a Reno or 2. Also I got to see a few old school cos players like a Rydia, and the FFI cast. And one of my personal favorites, a Ranger in full AF armor from FFXI. Also thumbs up to any of the cos players at that convention or any convention during the winter who are as scantily clad as Tifa and other characters, and just hardcore through the cold to look sweet. Generally they have fun, enjoy the happiness of showing off their costumes thats they spent day n night working on, make new friends and just for the experience of doing it.

Cosplay events are usually at a convention of anime or comics or whatever, and there are all sorts of booths, movies, and activities to engage in. My friends are in a cosplay group and they preform skits and have a blast doing it.

What does a person get out of it? Enjoyment, same as anything else. What does a person get out of skateboarding? Just a bunch of bruises? Nope, they have a fun time doing it, and that's all that matters.

I'd post pictures of my friends, but they havent done any FF cosplay. They've made some amazing costumes though.

Thing is, i think im the only that likes all this cosplay in my country(Wales) nevermind just my area lol and my friends like FF but not to the extent to take it that far. So im a loner in that department. Anyways i might go to check out on the 29th of this month.
I did get told i could possibly pull off Squall or Leon from RE4 (pic in pro), ive alread the got the gun if i were to be Leon, so might if if i can get the right stuff. Is that picture the best picture cosplay or did you see that cosplay at a convention?

Just like any other snooty people. Some will even charge for pictures. There are people with superiority complexes in every culture, and cosplayers are no exception.

I'm sure the girl did conventions as well, as I've seen other pictures of here in groups at convention halls.

Also the last pic you posted, just sheer brilliance on those people's part. 4 out of 5 of the final party members of FFIV, thier only lacking Cecil and they'ld be a full party. ^^

There was this one guy I knew from a local anime club, who once cosplayed as Kimahri at a convention, I only got to see pictures of his costume and a few peices he brought in once, but man was it awesome, he even went so far to paint his face blue and even had a latex face mask for the upper part of his face to get the details of Kimahri's non human-ness features added on. Was really a sweet costume, wish I had pics to post though T_T.

Yeah, some would ask why I've spent literally thousands of dollars on my drumkit when playing is really just a hobby for me. I say it's fun and I love it, so that's all that matters, and the same goes for anything else.

And there are some great costumes being posted in this thread. I'd never really seen a lot of cosplay pics before, but there are some really talented people out there to be able to make some of those costumes look as good as they do. Especially given how outlandish some of the source material can be. And to think I have trouble just putting together a Blues Brothers costume for a Halloween party.

Although as I said I don't cosplay (yet) but I did LARP in a fantasy LARP, well long story short going into a Denny's at 1 AM wearing medevil style clothing, wish some silver make up that got smudged on various parts of your face that turned blue over time. You get odd looks. Ah but so fun. :D

My computer was corrupted by viruses and needed to be cleaned and reprogram so technicaly some of the files needed to be deleted...the bad part is that the location where my FF cosplay pictures was also infected so today I only have few pics...(still searching some good cosplays)

I like the left Lulu pic. the one dressed as Paine won best on make-up and costume,etc... just take a look at her sword its a replica of Paine's sword in FFX-2.

It isnt cosplayers giving FF a bad image, it's cosplayers giving cosplay a bad image. People mock cosplay no matter what it's about. For example; Star Wars. Your average person knows there are tons of Star Wars nerds. And tons of Star Wars nerds camp out in front of the theatre for months and cosplay everywhere. However, Star Wars is perfectly acceptable to like as far as mainstream consumers are concerned. Final Fantasy is thought of as nerdy because it's an RPG. Simple as that. Video games have always been viewed this way, unless they're something like Halo.

And no, my conclusion is not irrelevant. If cosplay was the reason people think FF is nerdy, then everyone in Japan would think it's nerdy.

Saying cosplayers give the material they draw their inspiration from a bad name makes little sense. You see that would imply that they're somehow indicative of the quality of the game itself which they aren't. I don't think most people would actually see cosplayers dressing up as FF characters and decide that FF must suck. If you feel that way then fine, but I really don't think most people would think less of the games for it (in part because of the popularity of things like Star Wars and Star Trek). And posting a site that collects a bunch of images of people with bad costumes, and making fun of them isn't really proof. All it really shows is some people think cosplay is stupid, not necessarily the games they get their costumes from.

I'm a mediaeveal re-enactor in my spare time, so I'm often in Viking period garb for feasts, fights and other events. You get odd looks in the street, but when you're actually at the event in question nobody cares - in fact, a part of the fun comes from the exchange of opinions and ideas about different garb and techniques. Whenever the general public are present, they usually appreciate quality work too.

At least the FF costumes are creative and original. Most people don't have a clue what they're looking at; all they see is some outlandish but interesting clothing. In this way, it's helpful that the FF series isn't as hugely well-known as other series. I still cringe whenever I see someone strutting through town dressed in plastic as an Imperial Stormtrooper, but someone cosplaying Lulu or Seifer would likely get noticed for the quality of what they're wearing.

Not sure I'd ever do cosplay. There aren't many conventions in my country (in fact, I've never been to one), so there'd be few opportunities to use a costume, after spending so long making it.
However, from my re-enactment experience, I can say that the first time is a bit of an exercise in self-consciousness, but you get used to it. It always feels a little awkward when you're in public, but when you're at an event and surrounded by curious or like-minded individuals, it's no problem.

Not true, FFX and FFX-2 are the most expensive for the fact of all the little details. I don't know if they have any ships and stuff like that. Cosplay.com may have some pics, I've never seen a ragnarok do before, I wonder if it will ever be done. :confused:

There's a convention near my house every year that I enjoy going to. I actually may cosplay, I'm thinking of doing Kurogane from Tsubasa Resevoir Chronicle since it wouldn't be horribly difficult to pull off.

My sister did a pretty good Flonne from Disgaea. Some of the costumes are really nice, it's fun.

I dunno, there are a few times when he looks pretty muscular, but then most of the time he's wearing full-covering stuff or baggy clothes.
As long as you go for his hawt hawt black clothes, with the crescent moon headband, I'd say you're set.

P.S. Fai has 100000x better style. Hooded fur-trimmed coat = win.

How long does it take....depends on what costume. The majorly difficult ones like Vincent with all the designs or other kinds of costumes, some take like a year or so with the props included. Simple one take like less than a week.
