View Full Version : PlayOnline ID Retrieval?

Hello all.

I have not played FFXI or logged onto PlayOnline in quite a while and I could not remember my PlayOnline ID and password. I thought I remembered my ID but for some reason not all the characters fit into the box. So I was wondering if there is a way through PlayOnline support to retrieve your PlayOnline ID and password? I looked on the PlayOnline website but I didnt find anything. The phone support asks you to have your PlayOnline ID ready etc. I hope there is a way because I am unsure whether PlayOnline would do that due to the chance that people steal other peoples Accounts..

I would greatly appreciate any help. Thank you all.

EDIT: IT IS NOW OK, I HAVE RETRIEVED MY PLAYONLINE ID.. Thanks anyway.

Sure no problem. I managed to retrieve my PlayOnline ID (i remembered my password but they could probably retrieve that too) via my billing information. I contacted PlayOnline (there is NO way of contacting Square-Enix for FFXI) via phone. Their phone number is on one of the last pages of the FFXI manual and also on their website: www.playonline.com
EDIT: This is the English phone number: +44 (0)870 600 0182

You will have to go through some options by pressing your telephone number buttons. Press 2 to get through to a PlayOnline adviser. Sometimes your phone will just seem to stop but other times an adviser will come straight through to you. Ask if you can retrieve your PlayOnline ID via your billing information and he/she will ask you for information such as: First and last 4 digits of your credit/debit card number, First Name and Surname, Credit/Debit Card Address, Telephone number etc etc. Basicly all the information you entered when you originally set up your PlayOnline account. He/she will then tell you your PlayOnline ID (probably password too if you ask for it) and your all set.

Also if you dont pay the game for 3 whole months, your characters and account will get get deleted, and you will have to buy the game again.

Really? I am really sure i have not logged on to PlayOnline for longer than that and my characters were still there. I DO know however that if you decline your content ID that you have 3 months to reactivate it and get your characters back.
Im sure i have left it for longer than 3 months before. I dont see why they would decline your account as you are still paying for it.

EDIT: Did you mean pay or play?

If you dont logged on to play online for more than 3 month, you lose your account. It even says so in the manual and on playonline.com.

Well partially true, your characters will be deleted if you canceled your CONTENT ID, and i forget i think they changed it to 1 year..? If not then its still about the same. The only time you need to buy a new game is if you cancel your PLAYONLINE ID which is free and comes with the game.

So if you cancel your CONTENT ID, you run the risk of losing character after 3 months(they might keep it, but they might not), however you do not need to get a new game even if they do delete your character. However deleting your PLAYONLINE ID means you killed your game and you need to get a new one. Content does NOT equal Playonline ID.

It might not be. It depends.

If you don't cancel your content ID, and conitnue paying, it won't be deleted. And I'm not sure if they changed it to a year (I think they did for the Playonline ID - but only if you cancled which I don't understand why you would, it's free).

Content = Character ID, and if you cancel that and do not revive in 3 months(or start paying again), you have a CHANCE of losing the character. Its just guranteed for 3 months then its up in the air.

Playonline ID- Seperate from the above, lets you log on POL, it comes with the game and is FREE, no fees involved. If you kill this however, you get a new game...
