View Full Version : Too short a response

I don't know if it's intentional or not, but since the upgrade to the forums you can't quote someone for your response, you have to put in a "<i></i>" or something similar after the quote for it to be accepted as a valid response.

<b>EDIT:</b> And the title should be "<i>Too</i> short a response" but my fingers type too awesomely fast for my own good. :chef:

You've always had to include at least two characters of non-quoted text, if I remember correctly.

I'm pretty sure you could just quote someone and go about your business before the upgrade.

FM should know, after all. He's on the site staff, unlike BoB here

Actually, I agree with FM. I noticed it too, that there are no more tree quotes, and that we cant just quote something and post it, we have to write something ourselves too

ho noes, you might actually have to think of something to say instead of just copying someone else =O!

I've been wondering if the nested quotes were intentionally left out as well.

It's an option in the admin cp to count quoted text towards the minimum length of a post. It used to be on.

It should be turned on again, because it's bloody annoying. As is the lack of tree quotes or whatever.

The quote thing is something to do with a PHP file, I believe. I might look into it later if nobody else does before I return from my break.

I did't notice anything, but if this means no more pyramids, then I'm all for leaving things as they are.

If pyramids are good enough for the USDA then they are good enough for us.

I don't want to write html for the site, but I'd be perfectly happy to update templates in the admin control panel, and run SQL queries to determine posting statistics of staff members sorted by forum.

:D Just make sure to run the most uber statistics query of all time:
TRUNCATE TABLE post;

BTV changed the topic wrong - it should be "Secret Site Staff Registration Thread"

'RSL PORN LINKS INSIDE' is optional

not that's how you update a thread title.

update post set * = "";

But you can't do anything about nesting of quotes without FTP!

This thread title keeps getting better. I wonder which lazy admin will do the job first.

EDIT: And Samuraid, don't go around saying stuff like that, I'm going to teach RSL about SQL queries soon and you're a BAD INFLUENCE. xD

I'd say Yams, but he's a) too lazy b) not an admin

you can give me ftp access without me doing site staff work or being an admin.

While we're at it, a good 'OLD MANUS RULES' would kickass.

Bah, it was hard enough getting Cid to give Sepho FTP access when he was recoding the templates for the entire frontsite. :p

I would never accept FTP access. The less people have access the better. And what FM is requesting CAN be done through the admin cp. I really don't care if we get back the ability for nesting quote tags.

There are a bunch of default SQL queries that are found in the admin cp. RSL can start with those, although I'm not sure if you see the actual query.

No quote trees has been bugging me. Especially in EoEO.

You don't. I'd rather he didn't start with those queries anyway, considering none of them are select. If he actioned one of those queries, there's a good chance every profile in EoFF would be affected. :p
