Recently I played FF4 for the first time.
I beat the entire game and did all the side quests besides the Adamant Armour one in about 2 weeks.
I didn't even need that armour anyways, I defeated Zeromus on my first try.
I tried stealing Dark Matter from him but grew impatient.
Didn't really need that either though.
I was surprised I beat it that fast, the other FFs I have played took me at least a month or so.
I still liked FF4, overall it was great!

My first game on the US version version (FF"2") took me 19½ hours, my second game (FFIV hard type) took me about 21-22 hours, and my third game took me 29½ hours. In terms of real time, my second game took me the shortest time, about 5-6 days.

Oh I was way off...
I checked my save file and it was actually 34:50.
I was probably thinking of another game where it took me over 50 hours.
You guys still beat it way faster than me!
:)

I think I've beat it in 17 hours before, but that was the SNES version, a long time ago. Last time I just went straight through it, it was probably about twenty.

Around 24 hours, and haven't played it since. Where the hell were the sidequests in this game?

Kind of sad really, I played FFX-2 for 28...

I agree, the side quests were pretty slim to none.
I attempted to obtain the Adamant Armour but got sick of fighting those weird pink things.
I was sort of annoyed because I spent quite awhile stealing Alarms from those ball things.
So that's about the only thing I didn't do.

I guess my brother got nearly 300 Alarms when he went through the Tower of Babil, or maybe the Giant of Babil. That's insane.

But yeah, I think I've only fought three sets of Pink Puffs, and one was with an Alarm. Never been bothered to get enough Alarms to try for the Pink Tail, but it's one of the best places to gain Experience Points -- that is, besides the one glass-tiled room where you fight two Behemoths or Dragons at a time. You can really rack up the Exp. around there.

I'm in the middle of the game. Rydia just rejoined my part in the underworld. I'm heading to the Tower of Babil for the first time to tackle that. That puts me at about half way through the game and i've logged about 13 hours. My party are all between 35-37.

I had to take a six month break after the beginning.

I can't really remember, but I guess I was under 35 hours. FF IV is rather fast.

I don't really try to beat my games fast. I play whatever rpg for two hours at most, and then come back another day. 4 lasted (better word than took) me a long time. I was also a kid then, and it was great

Don't know about my playthroughs from years ago (my old SNES copy officially crapped out on me a few years back), but my current playthrough in Chronicles is just shy of 21 hours. I'm doing some final levelling before going after Zeromus.

I don't remember my fastest time but, usually I beat the game somewhere between 20-25 hours. I don't like rushing through FFIV.

Playing a straight shot through the SNES version puts me at about 18 hours. Not sure for the Hard version.

On the SNES, it was something like 21 hours. I remember my playthrough on Chronicles being longer, but not by much.

FFII SNES - 17 hours (first time through)
FFIV J2E ROM - 36 hours (I abuse fast forward.)
FFIV Chronicles - 23 hours (load times~)
FFIV Advance - 10 hours. (And in two days too.)

I went through 250 alarms on the J2E rom and didn't get a single Pink Tail either. Damn things.

I have under 10 hours on my FFIV advance and I'm in Eblan Cave, everyone's about level 27, but Edge joined at 25. Stupid low level ninja.

My FFIV hardtype playthrough took almost 30 hours the first time because I had to do plenty of leveling. Too bad this game's so short in comparison to many other FF games, they could have added a lot to it.

beat it in 16:25 on my first time and then saved it on file two and then continued on to the dungeon. I do this to keep track of my best time and then use file three. I did this on those addictive pokemon games and finished the old red version in 23:45 >Yup I wrote it down.......
