Your parents chose that name for you. I don't blame them for being against it! While it is your name, if my child decided to do such a thing I would feel like it was a real slap in the face.

Aside from that, I like Casey better anyway. Cassius sounds snotty.

I like Casey better. The only really cool snobby kind of name is like... Raphael. But good luck with whatever you do! :)

Cassey, even though Nikki Sixx sounds cool.

How do you change your name? Wouldn't that cause a lot of confusion with friends and relatives?

I have a friend who changed his name. It was confusing at first, but you get used to the new name pretty easily. You shouldn't have much problems since Casey and Cassius are pretty similar names.
I can't really say if Cassius sounds silly. Certainly I know many names that sound much more sillier. Do what you want, but come think of it..you want to be Cassius now, but do you want to be Cassius forever? As far as I know you're allowed to change your name only once.

Maybe you should change it to Frodo. People do love a cute hobbit!

Craig

The good thing about Cassius is that you could say "Just call me Casey" and look normal, but you can't be asked to called Cassius when your name is Casey without looking a bit odd.

Yes. My mother's cousin (we're a close family, so I know all my second and third and etc relatives) changed his name from Mike to Ali and I still stumble over calling this pale, nerdy guy in his suit and glasses "Ali."

Change your name to Sperm. Then your name will be Sperm Banks.

I'd go through with the change if you wanted it, but then again, you're hearing this from a guy who wants to name his firstborn male child Lucius. The girlfriend sniggers when it's ever brought up and tells me no, as he'll be teased as "Lucy". ;__; And I had it long decided before the HP books came out and associated my cool name with that snake sucker.

Getting your name changed is easy, albeit it can be expensive, depending on the state in which you reside.

I legally changed my name earlier this year, and it was a very simple process in Vermont. I just went to the county clerk's office, to the Probate Court office, filled out a one-page form, and paid $50. Within a couple of weeks, they issued me two copies of the court order to change my name on official documents, at which point I brought them to the DMV and Social Security office to get my new license and SS card.

My brother had his name changed. He thought his name was too girly. We still call him Cory though.

I wouldn't bother with it.

Well, noname, I understand what you mean. I don't like Casey, either. But it's what I'm stuck with and I don't plan on changing it.

You choice, but Cassius sounds kinda old-fashioned. It also reminds me of Julius Caeser.

My advice is, just think about it carefully. >.> You may end up hating the name you picked out later on in life, just THINK ABOUT IT REALLY CAREFULLY before you do so. My friend was telling me once that these hippies changed their names to Sky and Sun or something and later named their kid Cloud, but after the hippie era died out, the kid hates his name and the parents really regret changing their names to that. I remember when I was younger I used to like stupid names and I'll probably look back today and think I made up stupid names that I liked and completely hate myself.

Change it to Tyra. Then sue her for stealing your name.

F'serious.

I think changing your name to Cassius would only be cool if you moved to Vegas and started wearing a toga and sandals as your regular attire.

If your going to change your name it has to be a cool meaningful name like Joe Kickass

Not surprised your parents are a bit pissed seeing as your name is one of the very few real gifts they (or anyone) ever really get to give you. Cassius could be cool in someways... but for some bigoted, crap, and vaguely humurous reason the first image it conjured up in my head was of a guy in feathered hat moving up and deciding that Cassius was now the big pimp on the bloc.

Think carefully about it, if it's something you really want... then you probably shouldn't need anyone else to tell you it sounds good. Either way good luck.

I would only get my name changed if it was EXTREMELY bad, such as Gaylord, Orval, or something like that. Plus, I have a friend who changed his name when he turned 21 and I still call him by his old name just out of habit. I say save your friends and family the trouble and keep your name as it is!

I say change your name to Cassius if you like it better then Casey but i would suggest you check your numerology numbers for your new name before you change it. And i wouldn't worry about what your parents think i changed my surname and had all the "your disowning the family name" but i ignored them and finally feel i have my REAL name.
