Im just asking, have any of you noticed just how different your voice sounds when you record it and play it back? Just the other day, I was messing around with mum's new digital camera and I decided to record my own voice. I was surprised to hear how deep my voice was! I said one of my friends favourite quotes "Why fear death, when death surrounds you?" and recorded it, and when I played it back, it was completetly different! It sounded like some noble guy, I couldnt believe it was me!

Ive sent my friends sample, and they all agree on the 'noble' part. One guy said I sounded like a movie star! Can anyone shed some light on this? I just do not beleive that is what my voice is like to others.

Yep,, my voice is really deep when I hear it recorded. I don't like it at all. :(

For the curious, the reason your voice sounds so different is because when hear yourself talk, most of the sound you hear comes through your skull, instead of through the open air. So it sounds radically different.

O_O wow

So my voice REALLY is like that? OMSG

Well, my friend Elizabeth loves my voice, and so do most of my friends that I sent it too...

My voice, Elizabeth said its sounds all "posh and noble" and that it sounded like I have an accent! However, when I speak, I hear it as an ordinary common voice...thanks for that info Omnitarian..

I was surprised to hear how deep my voice was!

Well there comes a time in a young man's life where he starts noticing changes in his body ...

Anyway. My voice sounds a little deeper when I record it, with a barely noticable lisp. I don't realize it otherwise, and I'd imagine most people who talk to me often don't notice it, but I do when I hear my recorded voice. I hear more of a Southern accent when I hear my recorded voice, too.

The explanation for this is you're generally accustomed to hearing your voice resonating not only through air, but through your head as well....when your hearing it from a recording, you're hearing it via air alone, thus it sounds different.

It's weird how so many people hate their voices once they hear them recorded. Myself included.

When I hear recordings of my voice, I cringe.

I sound like rolling thunder normally, and a recording of me would resemble the sound of the earth shaking and breaking. Yes.

I scare small children with my voice. My little sister couldn't talk to me on the phone untill she was, like, 8 or something.

i like to record my voice and other things with my cellphone, then store them inside the voice memos menu. i sound completely different in home-videos and recordings, like i have a stuffed nose.

I think i sound like a whiny little brat in real life and even more so on tape! My voice has its advantages tho , people trying to sell stuff over the phone think im a child so often put the phone down on me before i can on them. One woman recently asked me if my mummy or daddy was there and when i said no she said ahhh your all on your own!

Cause the voice is different than what your accostomed too. I think if you had nothing but oldies music to listen too, rock would suck when you heard it for the first time as well.

I have an extremley quite voice when recorded. Simply because I hear myself plenty fine when I speak, but I guess it just aint loud enough for others ;)

I enjoy the sound of my voice. However, I have a phobia of talking into a computer/microphone connected to a computer.

I think I sound like a goon recorded, but apparently that's how I usually sound. It annoys me to no end knowing that I sound like that, hence why I usually try to make my voice deeper, or sing to convey anything.

lol, alomst everyone I ask says they think my voice is cool....but I still have no idea whether I like my real voice or not. The noble thing is silly, especially since I tend to use advanced words all the time..

I don't hate it, but it does tend to be kind of suprising. My voice is weird.

I sound annoying. It's probably a good thing I hear my voice as I do. I couldn't stand it if I had to hear it as it really is.

if i burp it sounds like a lon roar.

That hurt my ears so much. But it was worth it.

I'm not sure if I like my voice when I've heard it recorded. I can hear the rasp so much more, though, that's for sure.
