No it's Reeve. Phoenix went and said Reno, Rufus, Rude and Reeve, Draco only commented on the turks. Therefore the answer has to be Reeve, as he is a spy, but he helps you along the way. Reeve isn't one of the turks, he is only a manager of the shinra development program. He has nothing to do with The Turks. Not to mention Shinra in general is where alot of strong people join.

It's Zack.The need is in the small FMV in the Shinra Mansion where you see Cloud throwing Sephiroth into the lifestream.Then,both he and Zack got experimented by Hojo.At the end of the FMV,you see Zack sacrificing himself to protect Cloud by using his own body as a shield.Though Cloud was somewhat...weird,he knew that Zack thinks that he is his friend.

A strong freind in need--->Zack is strong,he's SOLDIER first class.he helps Cloud escape from the mansion,therefore he helps you in need.
Is a great friend indeed--->Zack sacrificing himself to protect Cloud from the Shinra Soldiers,thereore,he is a great friend.

In conclusion,I got the riddle,obviously,from an old saying,'A friend in need is a friend indeed',I only added a few words.Although the riddle could mean anyone,but the hints narrow it down fast.

after thinking a bit, I get the feeling that in this riddle pride means more than one, such as a lions pride, but don't all start hinting nanaki or his dad, because they've already been said. In the previous thread LN said that the closest I'd been to solving the answer was saying GI Nattak, but still far off. Maybe what we are looking for is not a character or thing based within the storyline of the game. Maybe it's something that we fight randomly or part of a sidequest? Such as the lady you fight for alexander etc. There are many good answers to this riddle if you think like I do, there's always some reasoning behind every one of them, you just have to think which angle is the right angle to view from.

I've come up with lots and lots of answers for this specific riddle and every one of those answers has been given with a valid reason that fits with the riddle. It just hasn't had the right answer there. It's because of this that the riddle is so hard, but when you find the right angle to view it from then you'll see how easy it is. So keep trying but don't guess, try and give reasoning for every line of the riddle, and don't repeat the same answers, check before you post.

Right one thing straight. This answer we are looking for has been confirmed to me as not part of the storyline. There is a hint to the riddle which can be found in the more riddles thread. If you look carefully at that riddle down the side it says the word CID first letters of each line. This HINT refers to the meaning of Pride.

I can also tell you that Cid is nothing to do with the answer, it only shows you the true meaning of what pride means to this riddle. This refers back to the first Speech that Cid gives when you first meet him in the rocket. About how his dreams were growing bigger and bigger and bigger and then was damaged by shinra and shera.

Use this to help you, No more storyline linked answers please and no more pride other than the meaning that's used in the hint. Thankyou.

I've now come to the conclusion of another answer, after thinking about the original hint, as I said it was related to Cid, but the answer itself wasn't, or it could be in a way. The dreams getting bigger and bigger was one thing that struck me as nothing to do with pride, but as LN kept telling me to look deeper I found out there was another meaning to it. The dreams getting bigger and bigger refers to wants and goals growing to another standard/level.

As Cid's dreams grew, first it was the sky, (tiny bronco) then it was the rocket, then it was space. That's how his dreams grew.

The only other people who really had such a powerful aspect on dreams were shinra. They wanted mako, then they wanted the promise land, but in order to follow sephiroth they needed to look for ways of transport. The gelnika was one of the transportations, one of the shinra's pride, and also Cid's if you read the storyline correctly.

Gelnika was ruined, and sent underwater by one of the weapons. Now thinking carefully at the riddle after realising the main reason for "pride" and the hint. Humans greatest friends in this game are Summon materia's. Human wouldn't necessarily say human to another one of it's kind. When you need them you can summon them. That's why I believe that the answer may be Hades. You find it in Shinra's "pride".

To clarify my reasoning for the first 2 lines, Hades is, of course, a skeleton, and representive of death. Death, who is humanitys greatest friend...to anyone suffering a mortal wound in agony...death sure is a great friend. Always there when needed.

The fact that a given riddle is "difficult" does not necessarily make it good. If a riddle has multiple answers, all of which make just as much (or more) sense than the one the riddler is looking for, then it is not a good riddle. A good riddle uses specific clues to lead to a single answer, unless otherwise specified by the riddler.

In addition, there should not be gaping holes in the logic or intuition required to arrive at the answer.

No your thought is nothing to do with violence, or the colour. As I said it's a "Metaphorical" way of saying something else, in order to get something else. Raging is along the same line. You'll see when I do my explanation why I chose it.

Well, she said that the first line was to be taken "VERY literally." So I'm guessing that the answer actually makes noise throughout the night. It seems to always be night in Gold Saucer (and there are quite a few things there that make noise).

One thing's pretty certain--if LN got one of the lines exactly right, then the answer is an ENEMY. Which was implied by the riddle anyway.

I still can't think of what red could be a metaphor for, other than an emotion. No communist enemies in the game that I remember. :) Well, red sight could refer to a robot's vision, but that vision would actually be the color red, so that can't be it--she's clearly stated that it isn't referring to the color red in any way.

Hmm...Lenna, does it bother you that I'm giving thoughts without actually guessing? If so then I'll stop until I make an attempt to put it all together.

EDIT: She also said Limit Breaker was really close with the last two lines, but closer with the third than the fourth...so, I'm assuming it's a boss or other unavoidable enemy.

Here is my reasoning.

I think the first line is probably literal. Very little else it could be, it must refer to something about the enemy, maybe the nature of it?

Second line...rage, redness, and it refers to the name.Rage probably refers to it being aggressive. Together with redness, it implies an animal, and it is apparently early on in the game.

Third line, a definte hit attack? Isint matra magic one? I cant recall all the enemys that use it.

Fourth, i think this must be the one correct. Bolt is good againt machines, but Lenna keeps suggesting that its not a weakness, but does more damage.

How about the enemy Heg? It's a snake, located in a cave (which would echo); the cave is in Cosmo Canyon (where it's always dusk).

The problem with this answer is it doesn't fit with either interpretation of line 3; as I understand it, line 3 means one of the two following things:

1. The enemy is unavoidable at some point, OR
2. It has a physical-based attack that you can't evade.

LN, that's uncalled for. You didn't have to call it "the dumbest post." There was a time, not too long ago, when riddlers had a bit of tact when addressing guessers. They didn't demand reasoning in every post, and they didn't insult guessers.

I agree that an answer to a riddle should always be from the game, and that guessers should not just post random guesses. But they still deserve common courtesy. It's not like they're trolls.

I definitely disagree about this being the golden age...the golden age was over a year ago, in a different thread. Riddles were clear (not vague) but still difficult. They could require complex thought, but they were still accessible. They didn't have gaps in logic, where there was no way a person could get it without being led along.

I definitely disagree about this being the golden age...the golden age was over a year ago, in a different thread. Riddles were clear (not vague) but still difficult. They could require complex thought, but they were still accessible. They didn't have gaps in logic, where there was no way a person could get it without being led along.

Of course not all of the riddles are great. At the beginning it wasn't all that organized, but order came. I liked PhoenixAsh's riddles in particular. If you have time to spare, and like solving riddles, there are some real gems in here.

Maybe you're hopeful, maybe you don't care - throughout the game, cloud comes across as arrogant, and says he doesn't care about the way things are or his memories. But then deeper inside he does seem to feel about certain things.
But thoughts send you to never ending violence - I think this refers to the fact he is thinking about that time in Nibelheim, it's a looping memory in his mind that he thought he was there but was told he wasn't. It was also a painful memory for him.
Only to be saved by those deemed themselves helpful - Tifa, she desperately tries to help cloud, as she hates to see him in the state that he's in, she wants him to know the truth about the situation and tries her hardest to help him follow his true memories.

As for you both, Musenji and LN, you both are being silly arguing over what riddles were and are.

Riddles are riddles, there are good ones and there are bad ones. I agree that it's pointless having people randomly guessing answers, but that's because if people guess and answer without any reasoning they can't help others look from another point of view, and if someone just randomly guesses an answer without thinking, they've not made an effort for it, therefore people who worked hard on solving the riddle have had their time wasted by someone just guessing for no reason.

As for the golden age, there is no golden age or worst age, there will always be good riddles and there will always be bad riddles. End of. There will always be dumb posters who don't know their left from their right, and there will be intellectual posters who want to do their best to give the public a good and entertaining guess or riddle.

Fighting over this is hardly smart either Musenji, it doesn't get you anywhere. L_N has his own opinions opposed to yours. Him expressing his opinions and then you questioning them is silly. You can't change a persons opinion. I agree that the post about his last riddle was quite dumb, but then it was a mistake to be made. That's most peoples problem, they don't think before they speak or post. They put the first thing that comes to their head and then it all backfires. L_N wasn't insulting the poster himself, he was giving his opinion about the 'Post', it was not flaming.

If you have a problem with L_N's way of thinking or with L_N himself I suggest that you PM him your arguments next time as this is a public riddle thread. The same goes for you L_N, if you want to post an argument do it in PM as it isn't fair to those trying to guess a riddle. After all this is a riddle thread.

You know something? I reckon the use of the ampersand (&) in the first verse represents Barret's own use of symbols (e.g. $%^&* etc) in his speech bubbles when he is expressing certain emotions. Furthermore, I think his use of symbols is connected to the answer in some way.

they are not referring to the names of the songs only, they are in there as songs yes, but they are also in there as the actual items/things they refer to in it's name. So shinra is in relation to the theme song, and also the company themselves. Jenova is in relation to Jenova's battle theme and also Jenova herself, understand?

As I have said to Lost Number, concentrating on the song names atm would be very hard, as they are merely to tie it all together. You'd be best analysing each paragraph, coming to a conclusion of that paragraph then linking it to the next one, if it doesnt make sense then you've looked at it wrong.

Every Paragraph has a multiple meaning, relating to the character and the answer. You'd be best figuring out the whole riddle before attempting to link the songs and also trying to answer.

This riddle was made specifically so it couldn't easily be solved through random guessing. As there are multiple meanings to each bit, throwing those who don't look into it carefully off course.

Cloud - fighting (italics) : he's the strongest fighter out of all the chars
Aeris - shinra (bold) : being captured probably, and her mothers connection with gast and hojo
Tifa - Who are you? (italics) : maybe tifa helping cloud out in the lifestream, or not really knowing the real cloud util latre in the game
red - jenova (bold) : this mite be incorrect, but was he, and all the clones in black capes with tatoos, inserted with jenova cells by hojo?
Cid - nobuo (italics) Umatsu (bold) : these guys worked on the music rite, and cids ultimate weapon is called venus gospel (gospel as in church songs)

or it cud be grouped into bolds and italics, tho i'm not sure how the chars ties in with this

stanza 2: cloud losing himself in his head i think, and taking zack's "disguise" the paths being the paths in his memory, and he is renewing his own life by killing the wrong paths or memory's in his mind. i think the fighting could either be cloud battling with himself, or cloud being the best fighter

stanza 3: i actually think this is about sephiroth, and aeris' link is the fact that they're both ancients. i think shinra links in because they're looking for sephiroth, who aeris tried to stop herself

I think I already have mentioned that each paragraph is in relation to it's character and also the answer. There are multiple meanings. You want to concentrate on separating them both. By looking at one side of it you're completely being ignorant (this is not nasty critisism btw) of the other facts of the riddle. Try looking a bit deeper. Think of as many angles as you can then try and see which one fits both the character as well as every character. The answer is what fits every character.

Barret=The way Lenna has put it is a good description of the journey he under takes

Cloud=A wicked desrciption of the pain and thought of cloud

Aeries=The hardest one to get but heres it goes= aeries returns to the lifestream when she dies and when cloud has thoughts of her after her death there is an eerie feel wheter it be the music or not.

Tifa=Tifa gives her soul into trying to cure cloud when he is alone she comes and saves his soul and heart.

Red= I belvieve this refers to the torture hojo put red through all the pain suffering and anger.
Cid=The Highwind the only way to do so much a place where death of those close is reflected and the pride of cid

When I read the riddle i suddenly got an idea. I'm pretty sure it's wrong but i have to guess:

Isn't the hole riddle telling the story of FFVII in some way?
The names of chars are in row of their appearing.

To the storytelling:

stanza 1: The beginning. Barret, Cloud and Avalanche destroying the mako-reactors. the flower is relating to aeris when he meets her in the slums.

stanza 2. Hmmm, when Cloud fight against the first Jenova and sees the ghost of sephiroth.

stanza 3: when Sephiroth talks to Cloud and sais, he's just a puppet. aeris dies. that means shinra doesn't have to hunt Cloud anymore.

stanza 4: when tifa and Cloud fall into the lifestream. Cloud thought first he's alone, but then Tifa show's him who he is and that he's not alone.

stanza 5: I'm not sure about this one: Is this, when Bugenhagen dies?

To the storytelling:

stanza 3: when Sephiroth talks to Cloud and sais, he's just a puppet. aeris dies. that means shinra doesn't have to hunt Cloud anymore.

stanza 4: when tifa and Cloud fall into the lifestream. Cloud thought first he's alone, but then Tifa show's him who he is and that he's not alone.

stanza 5: I'm not sure about this one: Is this, when Bugenhagen dies?

Devil phoenix you didn't say this idea, you said characters, FF7 and lifestream. I'm afraid you're answer is vague I don't know if you're on about the whole FFVII game storyline in general (including hidden plots such as yuffie), or just the 1 plot. The answer is not FF7 in general, because that includes everything about the game. The answer is the single plot line everything falls under.. The forced storyline. If you notice, each paragraph is in relation to a character, aswell as the actual storyline. Each song is in relation to the songs played in those special moments and also the words of some of the most important things in the game.

That place haunted him in his dreams and his mind due to the fact he didn't know who he was, I am not real, says he is in reference to Sephiroths saying to him. As well as the fact Aeris was no longer human, therefore in a sense, no longer real.

The game's storyline regardless of anything else is what reaches out to you, and many people will say that it is a game that can be replayed many times. Deny me of my luring games is just to show that some people will say that they are not addicted to this game, it's a very brilliant game, and it is very much loved by many people, including myself. Luring games are the way the storyline touches you/brings you in.

The answer is the Gongaga Reactor and the special thing is the Titan Summon.
Malcontents means dissatisfied with current conditions. But in comparison to Corel, the reactor blew up itself in an accident. Therefore compared to Corel, malcontents is not the case here. The reactor is useless, and forgotten, it's not able to be used for anything anymore. It holds the Titan materia, which costs 46 mp to use in battle.

The one thing you did not elaborate on is the "Not on earth or beyond" which refers to the fact that the reactor is checked (via Scarlet I think) by helicopter to see if it contains any Huge Materia, IE for use beyond earth, the rocket weapon against meteor. (If my memory is right anyway!)

if I remember correctly, Scarlet was actually looking for huge materia for the ultimate secret weapon, which I don't think was the rocket at that time. Yes, because at that time Meteor wasn't launched. You go to Gongaga before Aeris dies, therefore it was not in use for beyond earth.
