Exactly what is Cloud's role in FFT? Why is he in the FFT world in the first place?

Except that the Materia Blade is just as large as any other sword. It's actually smaller than the Excalibur, if memory serves.

Cloud's purpose is just a fun little extra. FFVII was a rather large hit, and it was extremely popular. Including Cloud as a fun extra was probably expected to help it sell more copies, after all the tactical battle system of Final Fantasy Tactics wasn't something explored often in games, and something Square hadn't touched before.

I mean seriously, as much as it wounds me to say this how many people only bought FFT because they heard Cloud is in it? Probably a lot more than one might think.

Hotness.

I'm gonna try to get him then:)

But I heard he's a pain in the ass to play with:confused:

Actually, with the right skillset Cloud is probably the 3rd best character (or 4th, depending on how you rank Ramza). His Limit Breaks can do a good deal of damage, I believe it is Climhazzard that is the immortal killer, it can consistently do 999 damage to the bosses with high HP. Also, his Finish Touch can absolutely DEVESTATE normal enemies. With Short Charge, he can pull off most of his limit breaks fairly soon, and while the Materia Blade is the only sword he can use for his Limit Breaks, it's generally worth it for some of his Limits. He's a good character to have, his moves are a bit different but overall they can dish out quite a bit of good damage when the occassion arises.

yes he is a very good fighter
but the catch is that it takes him like 5 turns to cast his spell (ie Cherry Blossom)
and the enemies move out of his attacking range eventually
and if ur own character is there than they get attacked by cloud attack!

I've used Omnislash once and I've never used Cherry Blossom. There are other limits that are worthwhile to use and don't require nearly as much of a charge time.

I didn't buy Tactics to play Cloud, but I thought it was a pretty cool addition. He's very strong when you level him, but the worst thing is that he starts on Level 1, while all your characters are around at least 50. Its a pain in the ass to level him up.

Cloud is in tactics to sell copies.

anyone who buys tactics as a ff7 fanboy just because Cloud is in it is in for quite a surprise. they'll never even make it to chapter 4, let alone get Cloud.

Which makes the irony that much more delicious.

I'll say. I'm surprised they didn't add any more FF VII guys for the fanboys to squeal for :p
