how do you kill Emerald without 3 Mimes or 24 Counters?

i bet a lot of people have done this, but how else do you kill Emerald Weapon if you don't want to grow a new Mime or get some new Counters, or any other "traditional" way? is it possible to just hack and slash him until he dies?? :eek:

FOR EMERALD:

first, use w-item glitch to give you 99 megalixers, 99 elixers, and maybe some hero drinks althought it's not necessary

the only materias you need are 4xCut, mime, and maybe even enemy skill (big guard is the only one you need)

lets see. give cloud the 4xcut and the two others (preferabbly mastered) mimes. you can give anybody the enemy skill materia, and anybody else the underwater materia.

strategy: take out the two hp-absorbing things on emerald weapon. leave the mp absorbers there because u won't be using too much mp unless you want to cast big guard. aire tam storm will do 1111 to one of ur characters, and 2222 to two of them (whoever has enemy skill and mime/4xcut, and the underwater materia with mime/4xcut). after that just use a megalixer or something. you have 99 of them, anyway...right? now just blast away with 4xcuts.
when emerald uses aire tam storm, two of ur characters will have 7777 hp on them (assuming all characters have 9999) and they'll go nuts. hopefully that won't be cloud, who should only have the 4xcut and nothing else. so ur other two teammates will be going nuts, and cloud will be doing 4xcut. good stuff. megalixers when you need em.

well it's not 9999 each hit, but he beats emerald in 1 minute 18 seconds. He uses ungarmax and then a hero drink, after that emerald hits barret and he counters with I believe its 8 ungarmaxs in a row, killing emerald. But I guess this is the way you don't want to know because it consists of 8 mimes and 8 counters mastered if I'm not mistaken.

[TR][TD]I have a guide thats practically fool proof (that is if you dont want a challenge do this): equip cloud with KOTR+HP Absorb Counter+Mime (preferably with counter mastered) and if you want the other two to be alive when the battle ends then id recomend mastering mime and counter so all three have it equiped. When the battle starts have cloud start off with KotR and the others mime it till emmy dies. every time emmy gets an attack cloud (or whoever gets hit) will counter with KotR and since the first one was with HP Absorb you will get aproxamatly 10% of each hit back as health and since you will be hitting her for 7000+ each hit you will easly kill her. hell if you have KotR mastered you could go one step further and use W-Summon. or you could equip HP>MP and Quadra the KotR and have the other two mime it for insta kill it could be possible to kill her without her even getting a hit i mean for instance you could get 7777 feaver on all three and bob's your fathers brother. there are hundreds of ways to kill them both very easyly. I myself have killed emmy without materia (but i wasnt insane enough to try with Ruby). KDWAH.

yay he's dead! :) it took me like 3 tries in an hour, i just sat around waiting for aire tam storm to come when vincent and cid were at 9999 so they'd get their lucky 7s and go nuts. it was so frustrating when they'd get their lucky 7s but i overshot the megalixirs and they got healed back to 9999 ! :O_O: but mostly cloud's omnislash finished him off. then cid's limit break did him in. and the peasants rejoiced :) thanks everyone! loves :)

emerald was so much harder than ruby, he's in my opinion harder than ozma and omega weapon :O_O:

I totally disagree, he's tougher than Omega, but there isn't a fool proof way to beat Ozma and there are a few ones for Emerald. Also without using Hades, Ruby becomes much tougher (still not tough) but if you also cancel KoTR it's hugely more difficult. An as they can both be beaten with ease normally, I consider Ruby harder.

Gravity + HP Absorb - Gravity + MP Absorb - Gravity + Quadra Magic

Admittedly, it'll take a long time, still, but it's less time consuming than mastering Mime twice.

I noticed this secret method when I was doing a Yuffie-Only challenge one time. Have 1 Mastered Magic Counter Materia and link it with a Mastered Knights Of The Round. Next, 6 Counter Materia, each linked with a Mime materia at any level. Also put a Mastered HP Plus and Underwater in the remaining 2 slots. Be sure you equip Yuffie with the Conformer and Wizard Bracelet before setting up the materia. Then, max out her Magic, Strength and Luick stats. Set her limit level to 3 (make sure she's learned Doom Of The Living!). Then, get into your sub. Unleash Doom of the Living at him, then let him attack you. You'll summon Knights Of The Round, then Mime it 6 Times! He'll then be dead before he can even get a chance to put his eyes up! And you just beat Emerald Weapon without using any Elixers! It uses more than 3 Mimes, but it does use less than 24 Counters.

Wow, you guys seriously over-estimate how tough Ruby and Emerald are. It's as easy as this.

Kill off the other two characters not equipped with this combo. Now, on your first turn, summon KotR. After you've done that, just use Mime. Every turn you'll get 2 shots of KotR in while your HP gets healed, and you'll do it for free since you're using Mime and not Summon. Also, every time you get hit, you'll counter by miming your last action, which was, of course, 2 shots of KotR with healing included, all for free. It's the most evil materia combo in the entire game. Just make sure you have 9999 HP and 999 MP (you can use sources for this) and NO OTHER MATERIA AT ALL OR AIRE TAM STORM WILL KILL YOU.

try emerald without any materia at all, its not as hard as it sounds.(you'll want ubderwater materia of course though)
Aire Tam Storm will inflict 0HP damage, and if you kill of his two HP attacking jewels and leave the MP ones active he wont revive his HP ones. and you cant use magic without materia so no need to worry about the MP ones. T/S bombs for damaging him, (you'll need exactly 101 to kill him but you can make up for the lost 3 with a few physical attacks) Dont bother with limit breaks as you will kill the MP jewels, and lower level limit breaks will only inflict the same or less damage as your T/S bombs. Have lots of items for healing :)

Ruby im a little stuck on for defeating without materia. Dazers will paralyse him for exactly one turn which is probabley the key. having two characters attack and one character constantly throwing dazers. but you'd need alot of dazers and on a rare oocasion they might not work. plus hes hard to damage physically so youd need limit breaks which is difficult if hes paralysed and not attacking. need to think that one through a bit

I have defeated Ruby Weapon without taking damage and using Yuffie Only! I just W-Summoned Hades, one on the weapon, one on the tentacles, and he was stopped completely for 15 turns. Then, I just continuously W-Summoned Knights of the Round because MP Absorb was linked with Master Summon. Defeated him before he or his tentacles could recover from stop status!

I never even thought about using something like 24 counters or mimes. Emerald and Ruby weapon are very easy to beat using more 'traditional' and functional methods. If you're interested in an explanation let me know, I don't have time to type it out at the moment.

You don't have to master any of these materias but maybe cover.
get your hp where your last two digits are 77 and below 7700. Then use potions to raise it to 7777. Afterwards get into battle with this materia combo:
Cloud: underwater, cover
Barret with all lucky 7's: Comet-Quradra magic, Mime
Tifa - Cover

After all lucky 7's is done and emerald is still beating Hit him with
comet2 and each comet will do 7777 damage. With quradra magic it will do it 4 times in a row. I'm not sure if the covers are needed but I think all lucky's turn off when hp differs from 7777 but I'm probaly wrong. Just keep on useing mime each turn and puff, he should fall soon.

if you use W-item (hopefully you got it, only one in the game, and you cant get it after that point) you can clone it.

i have a theory, but i dont know if itll work.(its about fighting emmy.)

first, make sure somebody's hp max is 9999 naturally. (without any maxhp altering materias.) give them mime and counter.

keep your hps up with megalixirs(which you should clone with w-item), and when emmy uses aire tam, that character has lucky 7s! then they will counter mime lucky 7s...

problem is, i dont know if you can mime lucky 7s. let alone counter mime.

now, about w item, just use the hero drink, (for the first item, ) , and then make the target for the second item. then cancel. you will notice youll have 1 hero drink. now go to the other item, and cancel again. then, use it again, and cancel. (you should have two heroes by now.)
now, cancel again and again until you have 99 . (this will work on any item that can be used in battle. so no sources unfortunately.)

however, the only way to get w item is going all the way to the back of the tunnel in the midgar raid.

Begin the battle by using the enemy skill Big Guard (or whatever it's called) which gives you haste, MBarrier and Barrier. This applies to both the methods I use. Your character set up doesnt really matter that much, but I prefer to have people who's level 4 limit breaks hit multiple times- Cid, Cloud, and Barret, for example. There are two ways to go about this fight imo- heavily materia based or by using brute force.

Since the 'brute force' method is the simplest, I'll go over that first. Make sure everyone is wearing their ultimate weapon, and make sure everyone has 4x cut. Your stats must be somewhat high to pull this off, so being above lvl 80 helps a lot. The only materia combo you need to worry about here is final attack+pheonix, however everyone should have a level 2+ revive and a pretty well filled E-skills materia in addition to the 2x cut materia. Equip water rings on everyone ( I believe it will absorb some of his attacks) as well as Mystile armor on whoever has final attack+phoenix (in case you are a newbsteak and didn't duplicate it) and escort gaurds on the other two. Anyway, the only thing you do throughout the entire battle is attack and occasionally use a megalixer. Every attack should do approximately 32k damage, making it 96k damage per round. Since everyone is hasted, you will move significantly faster than emmy, and it won't be long until you do 1,000,000 damage- somewhere around 11 turns of pure melee, although this won't happen because there will be a time when you need to play some defense; emerald is easy but he's not a sitting duck.

The materia based option is much more fun, but that's probably because I'm just a spellcaster type guy... I have a warlock in WoW, my favorite character in FFIV was Rydia, Lucca/Magus own Chrono Trigger, etc. This requires more preperation time but I think you'll find that how bad you slaughter emerald with this method is a reward in it's own right. You will need to master KoTR twice (or use mime for the lazy), and master every other summon materia at least once to get master summon. I prefer to have the actual materia over mime because mime doesnt offer as much control. This whole scheme is perfectly executable without duplicating this materia and simple relying on mime, so if you plan on doing that, just substitute 'mime' wherever you see me say "duplicate X, Y, and Z.". Anyway, each of your characters will need the following materia: KoTR+MP absorb, Final Attack+Phoenix, Enemy Skills, W-Summon, Magic Plus x as many as you can duplicate. Additionally, you will need to equip the following to your various team members (doesn't matter who, just make sure to spread it out): master magic, master summon+MP absorb, shield, underwater. Note that whoever gets master summon+MP absorb should have their KoTR+MP absorb changed to KoTR+magic counter. Once the battle ensues, immediately cast big guard. Then W-summon KoTR; for me it usually does just under 260,000 damage, but even if it does just over 100,000 you should be fine. You'll be rewarded copious amounts of MP. The next three turns you get use shield on yourself, meaning don't shield characters already shielded... 180MP is a lot to waste. After all three are shielded, use your next three turns summoning KoTR. If your KoTR has been doing maximum damage, emerald will be either dead or in critical condition- another KoTR would finish him off easily. If it's doing wussy damage he should still have well over half of his life left, but fortunately there isn't much left to do but rinse and repeat; even if he does manage to kill the three of you with one of his uber-nukes, it shouldn't matter because you will instantly cast phoenix bringing everyone back to life, and then have a megalixer for good measure.

If anyone has felt that I've left anything out, that any of the information I've given is incorrect, or that this isn't working for them, let me know. I haven't played the game for over 5 years now, so I may have forgotten a few things.
