Do you think Turtles will evolve so that they have a defence mechanism for when they are upside down one day? Or can they overcome this horrible situation already?

Best title ever.

I think they can flip themselves over when they're upside down. Maybe their tail can help them with that, like the Horseshoe Crabs do with their tail?

It's cruel to play bowling using the live turtle as the ball, but I saw it on a movie and the turtle was smiling so I suppose I can find some time to do it if he or she really enjoys it :)

Turtle tails are really really tiny. I think they'll all just develop their ninja skills so they never have to worry about falling over.

Why don't they just rock back and forth until they flip. u_u

This turtle fascination will never end. That's why when bystanders witness a turtle on its back struggling to turn itself over, they only watch in amusement...never to help the poor thing... its sad.

Thats not true I would help it. My dad use to be a zoo keeper and at the zoo where he worked there was a tortoise on its back once and it was struggling to get up so I told him and he went and turned it over. And I know this is a bit off topic but I feel I should share this story. There was a girl at my primary school who when asked what she wanted to be when she grew up she would reply " a tortoise" . Everyone laughed at her and said "you can't be a tortoise" and she cried and said "yes I can"! Then she said she had a pet tortoise. But people said they had seen her so called "pet tortoise" and it was a toy tortoise in a tank. And her and her family actually used to clean it out like it was real.....:kaolaugh: I wonder if she would have still wanted to be a tortoise if she knew how hard it would getting back up after falling over?

Blastoise is just ULTIMATE man. He pwns the sea with his GUNS on his back which shoot WATER. The other turtles (or sub-turtles as i like to call them) would never have seen anything like this before unless it was shot at HIGH PRESSURE into their FACES

My turtle could flip herself over just fine. They mostly use their heads.

No, I don't think that's going to happen.

We should manually fit them with some type of stabilizer.

There is something confusing me about this topic people are talking about turtles being turned over on their back and not being able to get up. Turtles live in the water are you all really meaning tortoises?

They can turn themselves over by rocking from side to side.

Turtles spend quite a bit of time out of water.

they have these little prongs inside their shell that shoot out when they turn over. The prongs turn the turtle (or tortiose.. I suppose.... Sorry bout the spelling.) over ready to continue their slow and presumably boring life.
