Which would you consider to be the better movie? Not just in terms of organized crime but overall.

It's a difficult decision, but I'd have to go with Scarface. Awesome movie, classic. The Godfather has more of a following, but I'd still have to go with Scarface. Maybe even just for Al.

EDIT: IT'S NOT A GANGSTER MOVIE. IT'S A MOB MOVIE.

Godfather is not a gangster movie nor a mob movie. It's a movie about family.

This is my type of thread, but the choice is obvious.

The Godfather is one of the most critically acclaimed films of all time. The American Film Institute compiled a list of the top 100 movies, and needless to say, The Godfather placed third and The Godfather part II placed thirty second.

On a side note, Raging Bull placed twenty fourth and Goodfellas placed nintey fourth. Two of my personal favorites.

I'm tempted to say Scarface purely because the Godfather's sequels sucked. Yes, Part II sucked as well. Yes, it did. Let it go. But the brilliant book of the Godfather makes up for that (Does Scarface have a book? I wouldn't have thought so but you never know) so I'm going to call it even.

Wow, it's complete even as of my vote, 5 for God, 5 for Scar, and 2 evenly. Personally I prefer Scarface, but that's because I think Pacino is a genius. Plus you really can't beat "Say hello to my little friend!"

Scarface had the superior script, but overall The Godfather is the better movie. Not my much though.

Citizen Kane. It's #1 on the list Tidus5 linked to for a reason.

Actually, I've never seen either of these movies.
