No vocals. Instrumental stuff. You know the kind - just the sound of a piano and nothing else. Yay. Anyway, what are your favourites? I have a certain list I love to listen to all the time when I have trouble sleeping, or if I just want to calm a headache or read a book or something. They are (excuse the soundtrack/artist changes):

.hack//SIGN - Before Dawn
Brahms - Lullaby
Enya - Watermark
Gabriel Yared & Miriam Stockley - First Last Snow
Gabriel Yared - Anthem
GS - Faraway Promise
GS - Love Grows
Legends of the Fall - Piano Theme
Romeo & Juliet Soundtrack Vol. 2 - Love Theme (Piano)
Sarah McLachlan - Last Dance
Utadu Hikaru - First Love (piano version)
Yasunori Mitsuda - Shion Emotion

I'd like more, so reccomend all you like. :)

Quiet Life from Samurai X OST (Taku Iwasaki)
Friends from Wolfs Rain OST2 (Yoko Kanno) (first part...since orchestra comes in later in the track)
Soliloquy from Fantasies and Delusions by Billy Joel (played byRichard Joo)
Air Dublinesque (ibid)
FFX intro (Nobuo Uematsu)
Her Most Beautiful Smile from the Rurouni Kenshin collection

Rain - George Winston
Variations on a Kanon by Pachelbel - George Winston (or Optium ;) )
La Chute - Yann Tiersen

And the single greatest solo piano piece ever created:
Prelude no. 2 in C#m - Sergei Rachmaninoff

I'd really recommend George Winston if you like solo piano stuff, he's
absolutely wonderful. Rain is epic, and Pachelbel's Canon is REALLY well
done as well (thought it was 2 people playing until I saw Winston in
concert and he played it. Then I realized the untagged version that I had
was by him).

There are tons more, so if you like those, let me know, but in order to
keep you from simply skimming and overlooking this stuff, I've kept it
short.

PS, and I forgot to mention my solo piano FF medley. I should do it again,
or maybe record Canon. This version isn't too good though, the mic
recording it just made me think too much. Whatever though.
Shameless plug time. http://members.cox.net/notoptium/ffmedley.mp3

It saddens me greatly to see no Fur Elise by Beethoven here.

Fur Elise is utterly overrated.

Unless you're talking about the 2nd and 3rd parts. Those are pretty intense.
Still can't hold a flame to Rachmaninoff though.

Oooh, cool thread.

Coheed and Cambria - Keeping the Blade (it's really pretty)
End of Tori Amos' Cornflake Girl
Beginning of Dresden Doll - Good Day
Suteki Da Ne (Piano Version)
That song in the beginning of FFX-2. Lightwaves or something. Very pretty. :)

All I can think of, at the moment.

Yes, it pisses me off when people brag about playing Fur Elise when they cant play the WHOLE thing. I laugh at them.

A favorite (classical) piano solo of mine has to be Beethoven's Sonata Pathetique Op. 13 No. 1

If it was something from a game or movie, it would be Jenova for Classical Piano

http://www.ocremix.org/songs/Final_Fantasy_7_Jenova_for_Classical_Piano_OC_ReMix.mp3

Both are fun to play too

We all have our own opinions. It's cool.

Anyways, I always liked Aeris' Theme. ;P A lot of the piano stuff from Final fantasy I like. Also, there was this song on the art channel a couple days ago that was really good.

I can't think of anything elsie at the moment, though. :(

Mozarts Turkish Rondo is pretty nice, if you ask me.

Oh, and Beethovens moonlight sonata... The third movement, presto agitato. That definetly needs mentioning.

Bruce Hornsby and Billy Joel do some good piano work in the popular music world. Try Hornsby's "That's Just the Way It Is".

I'm taking the question to mean piano solos - not pieces written for piano...

I reckon the piano break on 'Jessica' by The Allman Brothers Band is pretty darn spiffy.
