My favorite is Mystic Quest's. Not only is the regular battle music great, but so is the boss music and the final boss music.

There's a certain battle track out of Tactics I like. It plays at the Fohovam Plains battle. That would be my second choice.

Man with the Machine Gun is third.

FFI's, FFII's, FFVII's, FFX's, and FFXI's are all alright.

The rest I either don't like, or are forgettable. I can however say that at the very bottom of my list is the FFIX regular battle music, boss music, and the FFVI boss music.

FF4 - Not too catchy
FF3 - Pretty good for a NES song
FF10 - Pretty Good..
FF7 - Meh...
FF8 - Had a high-tech feel, not good...
FF5 - Meh... Easily forget it
FF9 - Too orchestral...
FF1 - It was memorable... but it wasn't good... but not horrible...
FF2 - Bad,

2: FFIX - I was quite impressed the first time I heard it
3: FFIV - I quite enjoyed it

5: FFV - See above
6: FF - Average, but better than the below
7: FFVIII - Below average, boring like most FFVIII music
8: FFVII - Horible, the synth kills almost all the music in this game
9: FFVI - Just rude..I hated it
10: FFX-2 - HORRIBLE

on the other hand, normal fight music is the most often heard and doesn't necessarily need to be awesome. Almost all the other music in X is good. If you were ranking boss music, that would be another tale...
