This begs a couple of questions.

1) Do you think you could do better than the mayor of your town?

2) Does anyone here have any political aspirations for any level?

Thinking and doing are really two different things. People can think they can do better than their President but when they themselves is the President, I wonder how well they will do.

2) Does anyone here have any political aspirations for any level?

Not me.....

I'm already the mayor of my town, Sim City says so and I don't think it would lie to me.

Also, I am already Prime Minister of the UK, and the only position higher than that would be Queen, so I suppose that's what I'll strive to become next. I think I'll have to do a lot of murdering to achieve this, though.

I doubt I could do any better than anyone else, and I have no intention of being a politician.

Just wait until I'm 18. Then the headlines'll read '18 Year Old becomes God-Emperor of Earth, Arch-Despot of the Nine Galaxies, and Lord Blood-Shogun of Ultima Dimension'. Cos I rock.

I wouldn't mind being a senator or something.

Michael Moore was Chair of the District School Board when he was 18. Not quite Mayor, though, is it?

...launching his campaign just a month ago with the money he made from summer job, $700, just a little bit behind what Mayor Bloomberg spent to be reelected in New York City -- $67 million.

Mayor for $700, not bad!

Could make for a boring movie that kids would like, imo

Wow 18 years old, that's quite young for such a high position of power, all that responsibility is bound to give this lad alot of stress.

Id certainly be better at running the area where I live or anywhere else for that matter much better than anyone who is already doing it. And I certainly have aspirations to make changes in the world.

My dad was personally invited to the annual celebration by the mayor, so I guess he's okay?

i saw that on the news a couple days ago and all i could think was how small of a town is it and how dumb are the rest of the people

Considering the Mayor of my town has absolutely no power whatsoever, not even a teeny weeny little bit of power, not even the ability to petition for more disposable hand towels in the central park's public toilets ... I think it's quite safe to say that I couldn't do any better than him.

And, no, I have no political aspirations whatsoever (thank goodness).

I had aspirations of becoming the ruler of Eizon, but then the gods (admins) brought about the cataclysm while I was on tour.

The Mayor... starring this dude.

Fooyo.

No, I don't think I could, because I'd only hate everyone and say politically incorrect things and sentence everyone to death (kind of like the Queen of Hearts). Also, I'd make sure that I got free food, so all the restaurants will lose business and then the economy will plummet and there will be recession and wide-spread starvation.

And then...someone will assasinate me. :)

Edit: Oh yeah, the point is...I'd die!

Edit 2: God, I can't stop staring at Winston Churchill in Doomie's sig. He's so adorable.

To your questions, nope, and.... nope.

The guy could of took the $700 and bought this (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ford-Mustang-Tee-Top-1984-Mustang-5-0-5-Speed_W0QQitemZ4590504106QQcategoryZ6236QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem), but nooooooo, gotta be mayor.

That's poor prioritizing, so how can he be a good mayor now?

Maybe he already has a car.

I don't think I'd have the interest needed to run a government position. I'll stick to adminning random online forums.

I've known people who I think might have done an average job of being a mayor when they were eighteen, though.

That's really impressive and admirable. I wish him the best in managing two lives at once - I know that one's not easy.

That's awesome, I approve.

Teenagers are severely underrepresented in politics.

It could be like one of those old college movies. He could be the drunk kid and his assistant could be the dean, always busting his ass. "If catch you cheating on that speech one more time, it's civil reelection, mister!" "pfft, buzzkill." yeah i'd be hot.

well...
"soy mayor de edad" :D
in case someone didn't know what that means, it's "I'm legally adult (or grown-up or eighteen years old)" in spanish. :P

But no, I'm not a political activist or politically active or anything like that :P

I seriously think I would be a good dictator, and I think the benevolent despot is possibly the best form of government.

My town's mayor has done a good, if unnoticed, job - so far as I'm aware. I'm too busy with other stuff to worry about running a city...
[quote]2) Does anyone here have any political aspirations for any level?Well... after I graduate, I'll probably wind up working for the government - local government or central, I don't know. It's theoretically possible I'll end up in a genuinely political job...

I don't think I should be in charge of anything. Unless...*hilarious musical scene with monkeys in it*
