They do a move and no damage is done.

Remora
Remora's powerful tentacles latch onto the enemy, lowering their speed stat.

but after some halfway into the first world they are completley useless. like ifrit and shiva are useless by world three, they will inflict 0hp damage on most things by then

Sylph and Remora start off useless, unlike Ifrit and Shiva.

they are slightly more useful than the Imp summon in ff4.

Remora can stack with Slow, so I don't think it's that bad!

When did you use it in a manner that was crucial to your game, roo? xD

I tend to use the status spells a lot more often than most people would normally because in FINAL FANTASY XI, you have to disable the enemy to make him more manageable to fight, so I try to follow that habit with more difficult monsters in other Final Fantasy games.

You'd be surprised that it actually works a lot of the time. You could probably end the fight faster if you did more damage to the enemy instead, but you also save yourself a lot of damage to your side, too.

Thats why i like the 'Reflect' technique. Summon carbunkle first if your attacking with spells so you can reflect them off your party. more damage = quicker fight so you take less damage

the only downfall of carbuncle is that you cant cure yourself.

edit: only if you dispell.

Theyre just the obligatory mediocre summons.

tbh carbunkle golem and odin are the only really usefull ones, and by then end that goes down to just carbunkle

bahamut is useful, especially if you mime it after casting.

Bahamut's one of the most powerful attacks that you can successfully mime, especially against multiple targets.

I'd say Golem stays plenty useful to the end. He protects the party from a tremendous amount of damage from physical attacks. Never liked Carbuncle myself though. I'd rather be able to cast healing spells on my characters, since some things just don't get reflected.

And I too found Bahamut extremely useful. Especially if a character is casting spells at half the mp cost. Very powerful attack. Never tried miming him though to be honest. I'll have to remember that from now on.

I'd rather be protected by 'Blink' than Golem, as Blink completley protects against physical attacks, for a garunteed 3 attacks. Whearas, if you cast Golem against say shinryu, shinny will break golem down in one hit. Plus blink only costs 9MP

Carbunkle is a summon i don't use. But against a foe who uses magic, what else is better? You will have to use Whitewind to heal, but i usually have a Blue mage handy anyway

I'd also like to note, Bahamut is not very powerful. It's the fact his attack hit's without taking defense into account. So he will inflict the same damage on everything. He's no more powerful than odin or leviathan, but a foes defense can reduce their damage

If I re-call remora (That's the fish, right?) just slows the enemy down...
