I concur. I've been with the Playstation for a looooong time now. Seeing it go to the X-box does start to bother me. I hope it stays Sony.

FF XI is not staying with Sony
FF XI was confirmed for xbox 360 release for a long time now and it will still be released

Yes its just so SE can make more money and make Xbox more popular.
PS2(PS3 most likely too)
PC
and now Xbox360.
I like to see a Revolution one that uses GC Controllers though but it might be a little hard.

Why is it bothersome that more people will be able to enjoy the game? You're a consumer who (I hope) enjoys video games as a whole. It is very narrow minded to want to hoard a particular game as if there is some sort of loyalty to a piece of hardware instead of the art of gaming itself. Did you feel the same way when Square left Nintendo to start producing games for Sony?
FFXI will now reach players who have not had the chance to play it before. This is actually a good thing. More community. Perhaps some day when I decide to return to FFXI from World of Warcraft I'll have more players to play with.

Yeah and it'll tap more into the capibilities of the xbox 360. And hopefully for the PC version of FF11 it'll start supporting teamspeak. Microsoft is pretty awsome I just have a problem with Sony fans who want the gaming world to stay japaneese controled.

It'll build the community, so I really don't mind. The less time I have to waste looking for group, the better. I won't have an issue until I hear it's not coming out for PS3.

Our LS uses Teamspeak just fine LB O_o
Maybe you should elaborate on why FFXI being released for the Xbox360 is a bad thing?
I agree with most of what Lord Chainsaw said, and am also wondering;
Did you feel the same way when Square left Nintendo to start producing games for Sony?

Microsoft can pretty much buy the market if they try hard enough, the money supply there seems endless. If they try hard enough they could probably take out any other console so they're the only one. Then all your games are on one console which seems OK at first but once you think about it, there isn't any other competition. Hell, Microsoft bought Rare from Nintendo, that's why XB360 now has a Perfect Dark game. I don't disagree with Final Fantasy XI being released on the 360, that will grab more players and make the community larger. Think of it like this, Microsoft controls probably over 95% of the PC software market. Ya got Windows, Office, etc. Just about everyone who has a computer has Windows. Do you really want Microsoft to control the console gaming market too? Nintendo and Sony have had it alot longer than Microsoft and I wish Sega was still around too. I totally disagree with Microsoft getting any other Square Enix support other than Final Fantasy XI. Only thing i forsee that could be bad about FFXI being on the 360 is the guys that wanna brag "oh yah i was first in line to get my 360" or "this is sooo much cooler than a PS2." you know guys that think they got bragging rights. spare me.

There might be some jerks, but people that usually do such things dont stay with FFXI's unforgiving curb of difficulty. Thats a player fault, not a game company's.
SE whether they like it or not, HAS given support by their faction leaving and forming Mistwalker.
Everything I wanted to say has been said. But this loyal fanboyism is kind of annoying. But the argument is moot. FFXI is on PC. Square used to be married to Nintendo. Things change. Get over it :D

Well lionx ther eare ways you say things. I know what you meant. Lionx you m,ade it sound like I said "Teamspeak wouldn't work out good for FF11." Even though i didnt say it I didn't take it that way. just wanted to point it out man.

Sony has no real monopoly. They have the japanese gaming market along with Nintendo. If you didn't notice, Japan doesn't want the X-Box, so why try so hard to sell it over there, they don't want it. There's nothing wrong with fanboyism. Sony has there stuff and Nintendo has there stuff, Microsoft doesn't need to go around and trying to buy it all out. They just want square to get a some support in Japan, which in theory for them is a good idea cause they want / need it to be sucessfull there. And when it comes to voice in MMORPGs, well, i'm a keyboard kinda talker, voice would be cool i guess. Square should try and upgrade the graphics some, SOE did that with Everquest when they released Shadows of Luchlin. I hope Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest, etc, stay on with Sony. I really don't want to buy an X-Box 360, a few of my friends bought them and they didn't work. I don't trust the product. But that has nothing to do with me disliking it, so don't try to attack me on that. And LordChainsaws comment about how i felt when Square left nintendo, I wasn't the gamer i was then as i am now. But back then it was just Nintendo and Sega. And i can see why Square left Nintendo, Nintendo made Square take stuff out like language.
I guess it's also party because Sony smurfed them over by removing the hard disk accessory.
Are you talking about the Nintendo CD-adapter that the Playstation was originally supposed to be? Nintendo's the one that smurfed Sony over on that by cancelling at the last minute, from what I heard. Sony got ticked and offended and decided to keep the project going and make it into a stand alone system for the next generation. A really stupid decision on Nintendo's part in hind-sight XD I wonder how things would have turned out if it all went according to plan.

Oh yes sony has a monopoly. Sony has a monopoly on almost anything thats technology. Hell they do Regional Codings on there Game systems
so that you if oyu live in the UK. You can't get the new MEtal Gear Solid game that came out int he US. It won't work on your PS2 if its a PS@ from the UK. SE is actually getting tired of having to reprogram their games to release it in another part of the world based on the Regional codings. Sony sues anyone that tries to sell the games they brought from one country to another.
Sony is starting to us a lot of sleesy business practices. Sony is a bigger corporation than Microsoft is. Your jsut a fanboy in my opinion and fanboys don't go anywhere in terms of having their own company. WEll yeah I think fanboydom is jsut a phase people go through I dunno.
Anyway I don't know aobut you but if FF11 is coming out for hte xbox 360 which was anounced back in April then thats a good thing. SE makes more money and there will be more players to play with.

1. Sony link send redefine 73 up, 32 down
A company that's 10 times bigger than Microsoft but gets a free pass from the fanboy American public because they have Squaresoft games and don't railroad American companies. Overcharges for their electronics because of the name regardless of more reliable brands being out there for cheaper.I listened to my Sony-licensed CD with my Sony-made Discman with Sony-made headphones while playing my Sony Playstation 2 with NFL Gameday 2004 made by Sony-owned 989. Then I played Sony-owned Everquest on my Sony-made Vaio laptop online while listening to Sony-licenced Joan of Arcadia on my Sony television.
Bill Gates could only dream of having that much power.

I think Mirage was stating that Sony doesn't support the PS2's attachable HDD anymore. Meaning any game that uses it (i.e. FFXI) is going to lose out in the future.

Yeah the old PS2's that support HDD's are gonna break down sooner or later. Most likely sooner. I think they pre program their systems to break down right when they release a new one i.e. PS3.

I really don't think Sony is bigger than Microsoft. Honestly, the only thing i have that's Sony is my PS2, and DVD burner. As for other people, well they probably have more Sony electronics than me. If you really wanna know how large a company is www.yahoo.com and do a finance search. It'll give you some info. Fanboyism or fanboydum isn't a phase, it's just what someone likes. I'm more of a Square fanboy than a Sony fanboy. To get right down to it, i just went with the console that was getting the most RPGs heh. I probably game on my PC more than anything, I go to the consoles to get RPGs.
I won't disagree with Square going with the 360 as long as it's a good reason, like you Lordblazer said, region coding. Or other reasons like better hardware, easier to program, etc. If it's something like that, then i support the reason. But if the only reason is because good Ol' Bill buys Square out ( like Rare ) or something that is totally about money, then i'm not for it. Yah, i'll buy the 360 so i can play the Square games, because i like Square games
As for regional codings on game systems, i didn't agree with it, but i never got any imported games so it didn't bother me, but i did realize it was a problem for other people. You had to mod your PS2 to play imports. Square should just take a turn around, forget Sony and Microsoft and just make games for the Revolution, that way all of us can save some mula. That be cool.
And as for the urban dictonary about Sony, well, the Microsoft terms aren't much better... infact they're funny lol.
I'm sure Sony paid Square handsomely to begin with. They weren't the only CD-based system, so that wasn't it. Square was money-grubbing and lazy. They went to Sony because they paid well and their system was easier to program for. But profits are always a factor. We might be in it for entertainment. Developers might be in it to express things. But publishers are in it for money. And Square publish their own games, so they have to turn a profit.
Moshenokoji
11-29-2005, 01:33 AM
You are correct, they do need to make a profit. Though, it is a good thing that they have good developers that feel they should express themselves in there games. Square RPGs are worth playing :D
Though the only other CD based system i can think of at the time was the Sega Saturn, it was hard to program for and it was only in 16 bit as i recall. i could be wrong but i'm pretty sure it was 16.
It was 32 and could handle anything the PlayStation could. It was just a lot harder to program for. It wasn't marketted well, so it's user-base was lower, and profits didn't look as sweet. And Sega was beginning their financial trouble so they couldn't pay publishers/developers enough to keep the quality games on the feild. Lots of things going against them :/
