View Full Version : BoB's Simplified style

It should be colored to match EoFF classic. It would not affect bandwidth or "simplicity", it can be done entirely in CSS. If it was EoFF classic colors it could very well be the greatest thing ever invented. Note: I'm not volunteering to do this myself.

I think a major reason for the current Simplified colours was that they vaguely resemble MS Word, or other stuff you can get away with using at work. Basically, it's designed so it won't stand out and give away the fact that you're bumming around on the internet while your company pays you.

No reason we couldn't have an additional EoFF Classic Simple style or something though, right?

Shlup

Unne makes a good point. Just clone BooB's style and then tweak the colors. Thanks for volunteering, Unne.

So one could simply copy/paste the current code, but change the thingy that sets the colours? Sounds simple enough; if I knew anything about programming, I'd probably give it a go.

Yes, it's a very simple task. I just don't like having so many styles for stuff like this. We've already had requests for a blue version of EoFF 2005. I also don't like having so many styles in general, as it's a right pain to maintain... however, I'm willing to remove Fluffy Puff, which looks horrendous because I never could be arsed prettifying it for vB3.5, in exchange for the Simplified Style in EoFF blues.

I just don't want to start taking requests on styles. I like having only five styles - you'd think everyone could find one that is good enough for them out of those five. Although I still think the vB2 postbit location one is a waste, as witih Fluffy Puff. But I guess there are people out there that like them, so yeah. FP is definitely not maintained, though, and if people don't care, I'll be more than happy to take it away and throw up the one requested in this thread.

I have a feeling that ShlupQuack would kill you if you got rid of the pink one.

I think Unne and Shlup will need to settle this with a knife fight.

I do not think that you should touch Fluffy Puff. Re-admin Shlup to update it for vB3.5! :|

you mean vb2 PM location? because side postbit is so superior to top postbit that it's not even funny.

I don't think any skins should be removed, especially Fluffy Puff considering how it is the easiest on the eyes of any of the skins, however it should be upgraded, also so that you can see what PM's you have replied to not just read as I can't notice a difference, I do prefer side postbit, however both work fine, I find Classic to be harder on the eyes however.

Also signature sizes may wary between the Classic(and FP) and 2005 because of certain lines of text will go to the second line in 2005 where as they will stay on the first line in Classic, and if you're close to the limit that could take it over the limit.

I thought the point of it being in that colour is that it was boring and almost colourless.

I cannot approve of getting rid of fluffy puff, unless we go back to using the banner on the classic blue style:]

I'm growing fond of Fluffy Puff even though I don't use it :p

And I thought the colours of the Simplified one were as so because BoB was lazy and left it at the default vB colours - he just went and chopped all the images out :D

PM bit with a colored chocobo at the top of the page where it can be very easily seen whenever one checks the index > any other location/style. It was needed mostly after some vB upgrade where they had decided the default location was at the very bottom of the page. Now that the default is at the top, I could live with it, if you add the chocobo indicator.

The PM alert popup renderred it redundant long ago.

Popups are satanic. Why do you think I use FF and its integrated popup blocker? Because I hate popups.

Loony BoB
11-28-2005, 09:12 PM
Popups are okay if they're not advertisements or anything. I get popups for PMs, but I don't get popups for ads. I find them useful. It's not the end of the world to be alerted that someone has sent you a message. I'd say it's helpful! :)

Samuraid

Yeah, otherwise there's that little bold number sitting at the top of the page that's pretty easy to overlook when one is busy reading posts.

I'm not about to disgrace EoFF by using IE on it.

I never notice if the pages are rendered totally or not, but I would think that after 1000 PMs at least one of them would have been.
