I did that too on my first playthrough. :eep:

My noobish mistakes are pretty much not saving regularly. Granted, I have not done that for years, but sometimes I'd spend hours leveling up in a dungeon, and then not saving when given the opportunity. Only to have the boss wipe the floor with my characters. Hours gone to waste.

Or in Tactics, I only had one game file, and got pwned by Wiegraf in that one fight. Had to start the game all over again.

I have learned for my mistakes, thankfully.

Honestly, I can't think of anything really stupid that I've done. I'm sure there were some when I started playing FF's, but that was over 12 or 13 years ago. The only thing I can really think of is that I often go after Bahamut after Fusoya has left my party in FFIV. He's a bit tougher then, but I don't think I've ever lost since the first time I ever fought him.

I remember my big mistake. At the beginning of Final Fantasy VII, I didn't know that you had to save Jesse. I thought she would just come on her own. It took me a while to figure it out.

Emerald, I have this habit of not saving for hours at a time. Don't poke the whale!

Mu friend didn't use the sphere grid, he forgot to, and when he did he went backwards and wondered why they all sucked. Also if he didn't have the right sphere, he'd skip it and keep going.

ffx- i was fighting seymour for first time and i got him to 1125 health and tidus(critcal health) was the only one alive and i had two options

option A) attack and kill and progress in story(should've chose this one)

i chose option b and got killed

In Final Fantasy 7, my first rpg (and my favorite), when you are going to wall market with Aeris, when your leaving sector 5, going towards the playground, theres like a pole you have to run up next to a crane, and I could not figure that out for the life of me. Seriously it was six months after it, that after a long time i had given up, and six months later i figured id try it again for the hell of it and finally figured it out. I was runnin around everywhere, trying the use the crane, fighting houses, everything. It was actually 2 years from when I first got Final Fantasy 7 until I actually beat it, you can imagine how satisfying it was and no other game has come close. Anyway dumb /xxx.gif/xxx.gif/xxx.gif/xxx.gif like that kept stopping me as I was trying to figure out this weird new game world.

When I played FFX for the first time, I died in the fight after the first boss. Of course, since I didn’t see the save point, I had to re-start the game…

Since my earlier years were spent watching my cousins play video games as much as they were actually playing them, I can't really think of any real "noobish" move I've made, as I've always had a generally good grasp of how to play the game.

However, there are some stupid things I've done, usually involving tactical RPGs and making a mistake with a move or an action. In those games, even one screw-up like that can be deadly.

Well, VIII was my first Final Fantasy, and the first time I ever played it I got all the way to the end of disc one before I learned you could junction magic to your stats. (It was also my first ever RPG period, mind you) Imagine my surprise and happiness when Irvines HP went from about 900 to about 1500!

I shudder when I think about that NOOBNESS!

I still have my noob problem. I avoid leveling up at all costs and end up being destroyed at the end of the game. This happened particularly in FFVIII, at the end of the third disc. I got stuck at a boss battle, all the random enemies there gave a total of ONE experience point, and I don't remember being able to get out of there. (Been awhile, so I don't know for sure.) I never beat it. ^^

Other than that... I can't think of anything.

Before I started playing video games, I watched my Dad play them alot - so I got a good idea of what to do. I can't remember to many noobish sort of things I did.

But the first time I went to the 'Tomb of the Unknown King' in VIII, I spent at least half an hour lost in the damn thing. But I'm sure nearly everyone gets lost in that tomb at least once.

In FFVII, I got stuck in the Temple of the Ancients, in that labriynth type bit. I was lost there for AGES, I even got a strategy guide to help me (before the days of teh internets for me) and it was just a simple turn to the right or SOMETHING like that.

What else...? Uhh...probably saving over old games and stuff :p

Ooo Ooo.... this is a good one. I just did this last night.
I was fighting Atma Weapon on VI, and I was getting wasted. Shadow was the only one who knew Life and I was out of Phoenix Downs. It was one of the hardest boss fights ever. Long story short, I beat him after what felt like hours. Everyone was alive, but had sh!# for HP except for Shadow, who then proceeded to leave the party. I wanted to go back and save, but I took one step and got into a fight with a pair of Ninjas, who almost instantly killed me with their stupid Water Edges.

FF8- missing half the GFs in the game
FF9- Taking several game-overs to realize that you had to kill the Black Waltz 1 before you could kill sealion. :riiight: My dignity is still bruised over that one.

Well actually. If you spend all your time trying to steal from the Sealion and Black Waltz 1 you can wait for your trance to reach its fullest and then kill the Sealion with "Free Energy". It's actually pretty easy to do that I dont know why people say you cant do that.

And I cant really remember anything noobish that i have done, but I know of one that my friend did. In FF9 he and I were looking for Chocobo's Air Garden, and he found it, went up inside it, proceeded to fight Ozma, and got obliterated with Meteor before he could save it. So we lost the location of the Air Garden and felt the mighty force that is Ozma

Oh right. When I first played FFVIII, I missed Leviathan, Siren and Carbuncle to begin with, and then missed them again when you are given a second chance in Ultimecia’s castle. This happened, despite the fact that I had already been told exactly how and when to get them, in both instances.

In FFIV, I didn't know how to get Fire for Rydia to melt the ice blocking my way in Mt.Hobs, so I just trained my people, thinking that Rydia will learn Fire by herself. It turns out that I still haven't gotten the Sand Ruby, and healed Rosa to proceed the game, and get Fire for Rydia >.<

Oh, I remember another one.

Getting the spoon for the first time in FFIV. Just as I exit Fabul and walk to my airship, BAM! Random Battle. And what did stupid me do? Threw the spoon at one of these monsters, thinking it was a useless item. I lost my spoon... TO AN IMP!

First time I played FFVII and spent 30hours+ on the first Disk leveling up RedXIII, Cloud and Aeris... Had the buggy.... went and got Mythril, got Great Gospel, was well chuffed, dismissed other 'stronger' characters for my kick-butt Aeris... Disk 1 ended... Drank contents of nearest whiskey bottle... Cried...

There are things I do purposely to be stupid... like... naming all the characters in FFVII Sephiroth for kicks, but there are things that I don't even want to mention... from my first ever RPG encounters...

The first time I ever played FFVII, I got my arse kicked to the moons by the Robot Scorpion. Why? Well, Cloud goes "Barret, attack that thing with it's tail up!" And I did. BOOOOM. Dead as a Cloud getting shishkabobed with his own freaking hair. It didn't say "If you attack him when his tail's up he's gonna get cha," did it? Nooooooo! Once saw the label thingy show "It's gonna counterattack with his lazer!" Yeah, that... Grr.

Then there was this one time I was playin' FF... umm, FFVII again... and my brother pointed out that Aeris was in the back row. RAWR? I put her in the front row, ignoring all stats and levels because just before this I finally kicked the Scorpion's metal hide and got passed "the leafblower" Battle Guard-thingy (we called him leafblower I don't know what his real name is), I had no idea what I was doing. So Aeris goes and keeps dyin' on me. "WTF? She's only level 5? That's to help her weak defense? Why didn't anyone tell me!?"

So a little while later, I got up to the point where you go to Wall Market to save Tifa from the whorehouse. Aeris tells Cloud to dress as a girl. I don't save. Not thinking about it, go and get the dress. So when the don gives the questions and you pick one of three answers... I kept thinkin' well you wouldn't have to go down if you pick the right answer or if someone else gets picked. I get all combos of getting picked and different dresses and then different answers. Three months later, I gave up on taking a different route out of that place...

OH i hate the first boss in FFVII with a passion i always attacked while its tail was up. the sad thing is, i must of played it like that 6 times before learning, i always wondered why i would run out of potions before the end of the boss battle.

another Noob mistake was repeatedly trying to take down ruby and emerald with lvl 30 characters, with out any special items at all. REPEATEDLY it never came to me that they were supposed to be harder than that.

Also i tend to get stuck on wierd bosses alot and end up giving up for a year and coming back and kicking thier ass, it happened the Gi spirit (i didnt know it would die with just a pheonix down.), sin, yunalesca, Siephroth, and jechts final aeon. It didnt happen in VIII yet and i havent started IX yet.

I repeatedtly kept dying on what seemed to be the easiest boss in the world, the Oblitzerator from FFX. I wasted Lulu's overdrive on the boss instead of on the crane. And I didn't have Haste until I got to the Moonflow -_-

<<; In Final Fantasy X, when I borrowed it from my friend, I also borrowed the guide to it. Well, I was going to fight Geosgaeno and saw that it said you should equip a shield to nullify Stone. << I thought I could handle it, went into the fight, and lost Wakka and Rikku to petrification. Then the dang boss sucked Tidus in and killed him in one hit when he was spit out. I had to fight the boss EIGHT times until I finally beat him. >< I got the smart idea to get Stoneproof shields, too <<;
