What are so bad about these guys?? They're great!! I only heard 3 songs though. They might turn out to be one of my favorite bands but I gotta buy a CD first, and I might just love it. I dont like to say something is a favorite band unless I heard/have their album. Reason why I have a new roster of favorite bands. But back to subject. The three songs I heard. "Grab The Devil And Fuck Him Up The Ass" which is an instrumental, and a fine damn one I must say. 5/5. "Fat Lip", which is one of the funnest songs in history. Especially the video. So fucking funny. Like when they were rapping in the beginning and all of those people just doing crazy things which is normal in a teen life. 5/5. Then comes "Pieces". This has to be one of the best songs I have heard in my life. So quiet and just. It just suits me so well. It's so patient. 5/5. So what Im sayin' is why do so many people hate Sum 41?? They're a great band!! Nonetheless. Just download the video for "Fat Lip". Im sure you'll like it if you're into fun; fast paced rock songs...

I liked their singles when they came out, too, but when I bought their album I was disappointed to find that they really don't have much depth to their music. I guess it's all personal opinion.

I liked some of their stuff. Songs like 'Fat Lip' were pretty cool. Never really got into them though, they werent different enough for me.

Miriel

They're very generic.

The rebellious nature of their music is very juvenile. It's so overrated and worn out that the music isn't popular. Not to mention the front man falling in love with a piss poor musician like Avril Lavigne doesn't really help. :(

Songs like this make me vomit in my mouth a little.. ;|

Stormin' through the party like my name was El nino
When I'm hangin' out drinkin' in the back of an El Camino
As a kid, was a skid and no one knew me by name
Trashed my own house party 'cuz nobody came

Now, I know I'm not the one you thought you knew back in high School
Never goin' never showin' up when we had to
Attention that we crave don't tell us to behave
I'm sick of always hearin' act your age

Chorus:

I don't wanna waste my time
Become another casualty of society
I'll never fall in line
Become another victim of your conformity
And back down

Be-cuz you don't
Know us at all we laugh when old people fall
But what would you expect with a conscience so small?
Heavy metal and mullets it's how we were raised
Maiden and priest were the gods that we praised

'Cuz we like havin' fun at other people's expense and
Cuttin' people down is just a minor offense then
It's none of your concern, I guess I'll never learn
I'm sick of bein' told to wait my turn

Repeat Chorus

Don't count on me, to let you know when
Don't count on me, I'll do it again
Don't count on me, it's the point you're missin'
Don't count on me, cause I'm not listenin'

Well I'm a no goodnick lower middle class brat,
Back packed and I don't give a about nothin'
You be standin' on the corner talkin' all that kufuffin
But you don't make sense from all the gas you be huffin'
'Cause if the egg don't stain you'll be ringin' off the hook
You're on the hit list wanted in the telephone book
I like songs with distortion, to drink in proportion
The doctor said my mom should have had an abortion.......

Tie Chorus in with ending

Waste my time with them
Casualty of society
Waste my time again
Victim of your conformity
And back down

I thought you hated instrumentals?
That was that corny Led Zeppelin Instrumental. I actually like instrumentals...

Bah. I think their music is pretty run of the mill and lacking anything resembling fine musicianship, their lyrics are juvenile and immature, and they were never very funny. That's just my opinion, and in all honesty I've heard at least one song in the past few months (though I can't remember it or the name) that made me think they may actually be maturing a little as people and musicians, but I still think everything else I've heard is utter crap. If you like it then great, but they're not my cup of tea.

By the way, there's no such thing as a corny Led Zeppelin instrumental :P.

I liekd them when they came out 4 or 5 years ago. I've grown out of that music.

You grow out of any meanings of music that's in the Punk gendre.

Does This Look Infected? was a fantasic rock/pop album. The rest is either too poppy for me or just not my thing.

I heard them live at a festival over 4 years ago and in my opinion they were terrible.
I find it hard to believe that they're from a town that is only an hour or so away from me.

Say, to those that own a couple of their albums, is the one entitled "All Killer No Filler" a good CD to buy??

It's a very pop-rock affair, you'll probably like it if you like Blink 182 and Green Day. Does This Look Infected is more of a hard rock affair, but still quite poppish. It's a nice mix. I haven't heard the new one, but I hear it's a bit more metal than the other two.

Exactly. I gotta say though, they have amusing music videos. Their video for Hell Song makes me cry with laughter.

Yeah, Blink 182 is my favorite band as you can see from the sig. And I find Greenday awsome but not favorite...

Greenday, Sum 41 and Blink 182 are all awful, commercialised, artificial American pop-rock. If you want real punk, try the Sex Pistols, The Clash or The Damned (but not the Ramones, cos they suck).
If that stuff's to punk-y for you, try somthing like the Buzzcocks. Not as punk, but still good.
Or, if you insist on newer punk, Bad Religion or one of those bands. Not as good as the old punk bands, but not as bad as the pop-crap of Greenday.

Really, even Fat Lip. It's a catchy song, and don't let some bitter old music elitist like me ruin your enjoying of it. However, that song is about as creative as the album gets.

It's short and shallow. I used to be a huge fan of Blink 182, and even then I was disappointed by the album. It doesn't mean you won't enjoy it - I do admit that I got some enjoyment out of it. After a few listens, though, I just started realizing how little there was to it.

sum 41 is my favorite band listen to "the hell song" "in too deep" " motivation" and "still waiting" there my favorites. there songs are so much better compared to some bands and they dont sound as bad as some bands do live. ever listen to fall out boy live? talk about the worst sounding band ever live. and "fat lip" was the song that got me into listening to music and buying cd's. there songs are a lot more up beat then the emo songs that are takeing over. also the song "no reason" is really good.
