This award first appeared in June of 2002, during the second biannual Ciddies (also the second EoFF awards competition hosted by the now infamous (because of his reputation regarding your sisters) Award Guy). Back then, the award went by the name "Best Recognized Member" as there was no Former Staff group yet. Past winners of the award are, in order (asterisk denotes a winner before the Former Staff group was added):

Obviously Recognized Members have some recognition (who the hell is Neel With A Hat?), and Former Staff were hand-chosen by the staff to be CK's (usually, sometimes admins also), so they obviously did SOMETHING right (or someone. that's right, I'm talking about YOU.)

Now, who is nominated for this thingy? Ten completely undeserving nominees, obviously. But that's alright, I still love you all (except Monkey). And most noticeably (and deservingly) missing is Award Guy, who recently(?) became a Recognized Member. AND NOW, WITHOUT FURTHER STALLING FOR TIME (Ha! ~AG):

The last half-year has been a very hectic one for Site Staff. After our senior coders finally put together a working template for the new style, we began the recoding for the entire frontsite. Spatvark, Sepho, theundeadhero, Flying Mullet, Baloki and myself have all contributed towards this, while Samuraid has been busy creating all sorts of new features and improvements in the background of it all. Azar has been firing out news updates, eagerly trying to someday become the News Reporter with more news updates than even Cid himself. While we've lost a few members who have stepped down (at least for now), CloudDragon and Cloud_Strider have stated that they hope to be making a return sometime soon, and eternalshiva has been a welcome return to the image-fixing department.

I would not hesitate to say that Site Staff has never been a more efficient team as it is right now. We have short term goals - including the completion of the recoding to be done by Christmas - and long term goals, as well as projects such as the new FanArt section which are all being worked on simultaneously. Once the recoding is complete, we will be able to start working on all sorts of ideas we've been dreaming up for the past year or so, and I for one and very much looking forward to it.

Working alongside these guys is something I very much enjoy. They give something for nothing as it's a largely thankless job to work on the frontsite. Having said that, in my mind, these guys will always be right up there with the best of the best of Eyes on FF. They, quite literally, make this place what it is. Thank them for that. They deserve it. And now, I am honoured to present the Ciddie for Best Site Staff.

Anyway, this award is one of the most interesting awards for the Ciddies. There are eleven nominees, all very worthy to win, but only one winner. The last two winners, er... rather winner was Leeza. However, this time, will she win a third straight? The last Cid's Knight to do so was Kawaii Ryûkishi, who is now currently an Administrator. There is no clear winner right away. This Ciddies Revelations thread also sees the introduction of a new pair of awards - the Highwind Awards, one for Forums Staff and one for Site Staff. The unique thing about these awards is that they are voted on purely by the staff associated with them, and I'm sure the winners will take great pride in receiving them. These are in acknowledgement of the fact that a lot of the work done by the staff of EoFF is not seen by the general public, and only the staff can give a fully informed opinion on how well their peers are doing overall.

Site Staff Highwind Award
An unexpected award to most of you, I'm here to present the Site Staff Highwind Award, where we voted for the best Site Staff member within the Site Staff. And of course, since there's no way in hell I'm going to win, I'm presenting it.

The idea of course, is that the rest of you EoFF members don't actually see most of what goes in within the Site Staff, all the hard work and effort I put in and other people take credit for. So, while winning the Best Site Staff award is nice, it pales in comparison to being awarded this by those who actually know just why you've received the accolade. Since the rest of you are just a bunch of ignorant hicks we couldn't give a flying smurf about. Weep as you accept the truth, measly peons!

Over the last six months, the EoFF site has changed drastically, with the new layout coding having been worked on by Samuraid, theundeadhero, Sepho, Baloki, Flying_Mullet and myself (though almost never at the same time as each other, causing much hilarity as one person would change a ton of code, only for the next person to revert it all and then do something completely different), and many sections being recoded to fit the new format. The question is though, whose work has been the most important? Who has contributed the most to the EoFF site within the last six months?

Of course, I won't win it since that'd mean they'd have to actually admit I'm just plain better than all of them, but when it comes down to it, deep down inside each and every one of you, you know that to be true. Spatvark is the grand daddy of everything and everyone! Even gracing those feeble minds within the Site Staff with my presence should be enough to warrant my winning the award, but alas, my ephemeral brilliance is far too much for their simple minds to behold.

You have no idea just how many times I had to reject the proposed speech by Spatty. xD BoB will probably post an uncensored version into his LJ at some point in the future, if anyone is curious.

Congratulations to Samuraid, for all the things you've done for EoFF. I honestly don't think I know all of them, but the ones I do know are awesome. They include setting up the Wiki, FanArt, writing the Eyes on News system... okay, after all the work on Ciddies my mind is sort of drawing a blank, but I'm confident there's more. Either way, you've been a huge help in pushing EoFF into being a more complete website, and I don't think we could have done all we've done without you. That says enough to me, and every other SS'er who voted seemed to agree that you deserve to be given the very first Highwind Award for Site Staff contributions behind the scenes.
