lets get into the minor details:

1) there are 5 races to choose from. unfortunately, Galka are generally considered male and only the female Mithras venture out. i think each race has 8 face models and 2 hair-color choices [more would be better].
2) you can form parties and fight monsters with other players from around the world. all battles are ATB-style.
3) in-game screenshots - gotta love it.
4) a rather shabby [IMO] selection of "starter" Jobs: Thief, Red-Mage, Warrior, Black-Mage, White-Mage, and Monk. plus, you can choose to ally yourself with one of three nations of Windurst, Bastok, and San D'Oria.

I hear that you have to pay money every month for it is it true?
yes...Square-Enix wants your money and has never offered anything free of charge. it depends where you live. for me [USA] i pay $4 for each character, plus a $12 activation fee...

wow.... you win the ciddie for most eccentric username.

there is a monthly bill, it starts off with a 30 day free trial.

the battle system is not like the traditional final fantasy games though, its more of a alternitive... something or rather........

What? How is that true? its 1 buck per character AFTER your first one. Theres also matienence and other stuff, this isnt RO. World of Warcraft has montly fees too >_>;

Basic fee: 12.95 a month USD.

Battle style is like EQ, you take out your weapon, and depending on the delay of the weapon, you automatically attack.

Dont see how its shabby..the 3 mages are wanted through all levels, Warrior is one of the strongest jobs out there that can tank and deal damage, Monk is very powerful end-game, and Theif is still desired for most of the game.

If you like the game there won't be any month that you don't play it. It sounds personally to me like MMORPGs may not be for you.

The game goes on whether or not you are there, thats why its an MMORPG. If you dont want to play for a month you better time your cancelations, and you can reactivate it later on too, but you have to think ahead. You can theoretically not play an entire month but keep paying for it though.

That was what I was thinking about, too. The topic creator sounded like he didn't know the meaning of what being online is all about, but, then, how did he get here?

When you register with PlayOnline, you'll be asked for your credit/debit information. Your credit card or your debit card will be charged at the beginning of every month.

I know my friend has Online... but does it have to be credit card? it can't be nothing like money order, or check?

Miriel

It has to be either credit card or debit card. If you don't have a credit card, you can always get a prepaid debit card from a local grocery store or something.

Debit applies in US only, otherwise try the e-passporte.

Twelve bucks a month REALLY is not that much money if you enjoy the game. It's endless, reliable game play. What other game can you play consistently for over a year and still have more to do?
