FF XIII!!! Yah!

Some dude on this website (the name will remain un said) told me that ff xii was the final of the final fantasies. well he (thank god) was dead wrong. FF xiii is estamated to be released (in japan) sept or october of 2006. They are desinging the charctors and writing the script thingy. I would just like to know what u would like the next ff to be about.... your dream story line and your dream charators....:cool: Thx,

hey its the internet..... not the best sorce. But hey mabey the game is gunna be shorter or something like that and note that it says estamated..... plus a year is a long time to make a game. FFx and ff x2 only took a year each so u never no.....:cool:

Sony's got a contract with square about making up to Final Fantasy 15 for their consoles. Atleast that's what I heard. That doesn't mean it'll stop there though, or that they can't release multiplatform Final Fantasy games (They already did that with FF11).

Although I agree it sounds like a load of crap, it's not impossible, just extremely unlikely that it could be out shortly after the PS3 is released. Some of the most time consuming aspects of game design are the actual design portions: character design, story, etc. Once all that's decided development of the game is relatively short. Depending on how long they've been working on FFXIII and if they had all the stuff finished by the time dev kits started to be sent out, I could see them possibly pumping out the game in that short a time frame.

Like I said though, it's unlikely. Given how tight lipped they're being about it right now, I wouldn't expect they're where they would need to be in development to get it out next year. In fact, releasing a next gen FF next year could very well canibalize some of FFXII's sales, or at least cause interest to shift greatly away from XII. I doubt we'll even hear much about the next FF until after FFXII is released.
