Anyone else bought this piece of <img src="/xxx.gif"><img src="/xxx.gif"><img src="/xxx.gif"><img src="/xxx.gif">?? I bought one yesterday and the damn thing hates me. My mom brought it back to get a new one and even told the bitch owner that I broke it because I was mad. Well, I <I>was</I> mad but I didn't break it. Now that she got a new one it STILL doesn't work. Does anyone know how to get the fucking wheel to stand straight...

hey man ive used those b4 and they dont work for <img src="/xxx.gif"><img src="/xxx.gif"><img src="/xxx.gif"><img src="/xxx.gif">, it leaves a big wave on ur disc and it wont let the system read it, i used it on ffviii and my ps2 wouldnt even read it anymore, but i guess it wouldnt hurt to try, if u want..

Did you buff your CD after you spin wheeled the crap?? That's what I did. My Legend Of Mana CD still works but the damn thing still freezes. That's the rason why I got the fucking Skip DR...

yeah i did buff it but it just doesnt want to read it anymore and thats whats happened to most discs ive used, well i think theres like a special creme u can buy at game stores idk what it was called but it works u should check it out at ur local game stores....

Those things are crap.

You want a good way to fix scratched CDs? A cheap one? Use toothpaste. I've used this on multiple CDs, like my disc 2 of Xenogears, and it went from locking up at a certain point to playing all the way through with no problems.

What you do is take a non-gel toothpaste (this is critical, as gel toothpastes don't have a gritty texture to them), and apply just a dab on a tissue or washcloth. Then, apply it to your CD, going from the inside of the disc outward. Don't go in circles on the disc, since that doesn't do anything. Go from the inside to the outside until you've gotten then entire surface of the disc, then wash off all of the toothpaste and dry it. Usually, when I'm drying, I just dab it with a towel, rather than trying to rub it down and potentially damage it further.

It may seem a little ridiculous, but it does work. Essentially what you're doing is removing a layer off of the disc, and evening the surface out so that your reader doesn't skip when it reaches the point of the scratch. That's why you need a toothpaste with a gritty texture, and also why you go from the inside-out rather than going with the grain of the disc.

No joke. I found out about it on a TV show a few years back, and thus far I've fixed any scratched CD I've had with that method.

The Disc Doctor that I have does just that. It works perfectly every time. The only time this has failed to fix a CD for me is if the scratch was severely deep. The picture crash posted looks somewhat similar to the machine I have.

Of course, if the toothpaste thing does work, it is much cheaper.

The toothpaste trick had me skeptical at first as well, but HSU is on the money (as usual). It works damn good on even the most finickey surface scratches. rawr.

I usually use a gell toothpaste on my teeth, so I keep a tube of the solid white on hand for such ocasions. If the scratch is pretty deep, or I am just lazy, I found that most music stores, or video rental places will gladly clean discs for you for a small 2 - 3 dollar fee. Definatley rendering the disk doctor a worthless buy.

Hsu is not joking, Toothpaste does work, worked with my Resident evil, but thats broke again after, so I just bought a new copy, another is a lighter, but I have never used that, never, and probably never will, but heard it can work ....
CD cleaners are crap, without a dought, dunno why they make them, I have never heard anyone saying there good, never .....

Umm.... It didn't work. Is Aqua Fresh a gel toothpaste?? 'Cause it said Flourish or foulride or something. And if it is, does gel damage your CD?? I gotta go buy some Non-gel toothpaste...

It's likely it'll say on the bottle if it is. Otherwise, you can tell if it's translucent in color.

There is a point where scratches become too deep for anything to be done to save them, which is another thing to consider. Light surface scratches are easiest to fix, but the deeper they get the more difficult it is to repair them.
