secret FMV found!

does anyone remember the ff8 preview disk that you got with the platium version of ff7? it had 2 movies on it: the first one was a alternate version of the opening seq and the other was the dancing scene with squall and rinoa. right? well guess what!? there is another fmv pesent on the disk! i found it whilst scanning the disk with a ps1 fmv/picture/music ripper called psx mc. its basically a movie/trailer of the dollet scene. except it has some pretty big descepencies in it. for a start everyone is in their normal costumes instead of the seed uniform like they are meant to be! secondly rinoa is present in the team eventhough you dont meet her until you get to timber thirdly it isnt quistis who shoots the robot at the end before you escape its just a soldier with a green uniform! and after all that you also see the team using leviathan! it doesnt make any sense. but it must be a pre-completion fmv which shows how much squaresoft changed the story! :eek: :eek: :eek: :eek: :eek:

Sounds like a demo release rather than a reworking of the storyline. In the FFVII demo you were given Cloud, Barret and Tifa (?) to complete the first Mako reactor, which obviously wasn't possible in the actual game. Nice find though.

Anyway, I’m rather curious as the what this FMV might look like now. I actually found an FMV on my FF Tactics disk that didn’t seem to be in the game. It was some form of advertisement. I could have been that I didn’t look hard enough for it though…

EDIT: You’re probably wondering why someone who uses PAL has a copy of an NTSC only game right? Let's just say that 'my' FFT disk wasn't exactly an accurate description...

I cant believe someone else finally noticed this. I spent ages trying to figure out the fmv picture of Rinoa on the beach looking back at Squall as the spider robot chases him which I saw in my authorised collection guide. And Zell was in his normal clothes also. Im very confident to say its from the original FFVIII demo. You had a party of Squall, zell and rinoa running through dollet during one of the earlier points in the game. That demo also had its own music which isnt on the soundtrack also.

their is no dance sequence in the demo! I have the ff 8 demo, and yes their are some differances but no dance scene. Im glad i got this little demo cd after all :)

Actually, there was another demo disk at one time. Can't remember what it came with.. You got to play a really hard version of Dollet. That movie was at the end of it. I guess they were prolly going to make it all one demo and then didn't have time and split it into another demo disk. The demo disk also came with a demo for Xenogears and something else. It's been years since I had it. Interestingly enough, I got it long after FF9 came out.

What you describe is the FFVIII Demo. I happen to have it on one of those Pizza Hut promo discs from 1999 (the first thing I played when I got my PSone.) Just to clear some things up:

1) The video only has the birds and ship noises because the audio is sequenced, like a midi, and is seprate from the .str file.

2) The music is in fact the same exact track used in the actual game ("The Landing"). If you download the PSF set, one of the 900's is the demo version. I'm thinking it uses FFVII's sound driver, but don't quote me on that one! ;)

I'll post some comparisons of that if anyone would like.

What you found was was a movie from the Demo disk for ff8 trust me I remember playing the ff8 demo and that is exactly what its like

i have a demo for ff8 and it doesnt have rinoa in the party and i dunno about the quistis gun thing (i never used to get to the beach, i always used to die cus i was like a noob and didnt know when to run but now i do) but i do remember the some of the gfs i know there was ifrit and quezacotl on some dudes (cant remember if it was ifrit = squall or ifrit = zell) but i do remember i think squall had leviathan and seifer had shiva and brothers and i think squall had bahamut aswell.

I played the FF8 PC Demo, which started right after the dance FMV. You've got Leviathan there. This demo was created after the full version for the PS was released, I believe.

hmm...well welcome to eoff. I joined here July, and well, the ff8 forum isn't really people yelling at eachother, its people calmly explaining and debating wacked-out "theories" and everyone else yelling at Future Esthar. Didn't take long for me to get those FE jokes...
And does it involve the garden crashing around? I saw a part of it somewhere but i never saw it in the game...
