This could work as a hint for those unaware of this thing.

I usually tend to work up my characters to some insane stats and stuff, while still having Minh in the party, and I train right north of Phin, where you encounter Wizards and Wz. Ogres.
I could safely say that this is the best early game training place I've ever heard of.
Not only do you gain some incredibly high level magics for free (Berserk and Stone, anyone?) but you gain WEAPONS as well!
A few seconds ago I defeated a single Wizard, and the screen went this weird as it usually does when loading the Treasure Screen.
I thought it was another great magic I could sell for big money, but it turned out to be a Magic Cane.
I went like "damn it" and guessed I might as well use it - I got really surprised at the incredible strength increase for Maria.
She had the Cane, on 5 Attack Power, and changing to the Magic Cane increased those points to 41!

This place is incredible!

It's akin to the PoP in FF1 that marsh place. It's even feasible to reach Mystidia almost from the offstead after getting the canoe, though it's advised against since you'll usually get creamed.

It's cheating, nuff said.

I don't think its cheating as it is still very difficult to win these fights. I always go after captains on my way to the dreadnought.

The entire game is cheating because ZOMP you can use BUTTONS instead of working your telepathy to win!

I am partial to the coastline below altea myself. It's a bit of a mark of distinction being able to defeat the monsters there easily.

A controller is anything who controls.

Remote controls, keypads, dominatrices.

You must be thinking about the GBA version. You see, us cool kids use translated roms.

Actually, I went legit and got the GBA version. So, I didn't use the standard controller, thus I didn't cheat.

Ha.

My friend Josh has his characters with over 10,000 HP, because he trained in the first area at the beginning, but now he fights the monsters at the peninsula south of Altair. I think he still has a broad sword, a cane, and an Axe equiped on his guys. That's right, he has the leather armors, and those weapons. He has patience...

DOES ANYBODY HAVE A FAMICON THAT WORKS THIS DAYS.I have, but I can't get an FF1 copy up here, since we Europeans are always ignored by the Japaneses. :mad2:

To make it worse, America uses NTSC while Sweden uses PAL. *sigh*

I need one to play my FFIII cartridge.

Anyway, anywhere you can beat the crap out of your own people is a suituable training area. :cat:

I hope this thread wasn't revived. :eep:

Really? How do you get it up that high then? On the GBA, I Swapped until everyone had max HP, but I still haven't bothered to do that on Origins. :cat:

Also, in the DoS version, I've found that the peninsula directly below Altair is a good place to train...but I would advise against it right at the get-go because it's full of monsters you normally wouldn't run into until halfway through the game, and you'll probably get massacred.

It is on DoS. Believe me, I know. It may be lower on the origional, but that's besides the point. My point is that 10,000HP ain't gonna happen.
