Terra and love.

Alright, folks, if you've played FF6, you'd know that Terra is searching for love. Eventually, she finds love with the kids she ends up taking care of. But, in my personal opinion, I feel that Terra deserves to have a life companion, and... I also feel that the game offers many suitable candidates. Now, I never said that she absolutely needs to be with someone, because maybe she's fine living the way she is. But, the point is to discuss! If she were to hook up with someone, who would it be? Or do you believe she doesn't need anyone? Anyway, feel free to use this thread to discuss what Terra's love fate should be. I have my personal favorite Terra pairings, but I won't say anything yet. =)

Agreed. The entire point of her story arc was she felt a loss from never knowing her parents, and so was able to fill that void by looking after the orphans, and much like her own father being able to have the strength to fight to protect them.

Well, TERRA is a fairly asexual character (probably due to being half esper) so I would doubt she would ever end up with anyone. She’s kind of become the overseer of the orphanage now; I think it’s implied that that is what she would do for the rest of her life.

Id say Edgar, she did say she found him "charming" in a way when they initially met, and I think despite ed's constant flirting, he does know how to be loyal when push comes to shove. Just take a look at how good a king he is. I'd say Tifa would be able to tame his roving ways, and help him mature. And Edgar with his kingdom would be able to help her live and learn about life in ways he never had the chance too by showing her how to look after the needs of many people. Perfect match IMO.

Wow, am i the only one who thinks shadow? I mean, while Leo was alive and Terra confused about her love he consoled her on the ship, kinda. I don't think it worked out very well, but he did his best, proving he wasn't a cold shallow shell of a man. Until then he hadn't done anything like that for anyone else.

‘Asexual’ doesn’t necessarily mean ‘lacking of sexual organs’ or ‘sexual appeal’. It can also mean one who lacks feelings of sexual attraction and/or sexual desire. I think TERRA’s lines in Figaro Castle demonstrate this rather well:

REword it and it is generally what she said. It was more of an "IM not normal" comment directed at herself adn not edger. See, she wasn't even thinking about him when she made that comment, so obviously they don't get along very well.

Granted that, by the end of the game, the first two are dead, and the third one is only evidenced by a very obscure scene that nobody ever, ever sees.

Shadow and Terra was my second favorite Terra pairing, but as mentioned above, the fact that he kills himself pretty much annihilates all chances of that happening except in fanfic.

Terra x Setzer weirds me out, but maybe that's just because of the way Setzer deals with his feelings for Maria.

I believe she'd be good with Shadow as well, save for the fact that he dies in the end. I don't know, they just seem to fit somehow.

But, yeah, I'm also a fan of the Edgar/Terra pairing. If Terra were ever to seek love in another man, Edgar would probably be the first one to step up to the plate, seeing as his hormones have the best of him. I get the feeling that once Edgar settles down with someone, he'll stop chasing after every girl he sees, and Terra seems like a good candidate for him to settle down with. Terra also seems to have a good deal of respect for him...

I really think that Terra wouldn't be okay with any character present, probably because she's not motivated by romantic love. That's not what she needed to be whole. She needed a family, and after going through what she did, the kids are perfect for her. I'm not amazed at this.

I have, however, found plenty of Terra/Edgar doujinshi, which I don't agree with at all. If Terra should be with any character mentioned in the game, I think it would be Sabin, and I rather don't like that pairing.

Leo is dead so that would be sick. Celes and Locke are both going to hook up. So unless they have a threeway it won't be them. Edgar is a walking hard on. He is the quagmire of final fantasy 6. She doesn't like him. Cyan is too busy greiving for his lost wife and plus his is much older than she is. Umaro, Mog, and Gogo are not really in the running. I think Gau and Relm will hook up... Strago is much too old to do anyting without viagra... Sabin is gay.

Setzer is the pimpest charater. He has Daryl and Maria... So I am guessing he might win her over. But it won't be love... Setzer will hump her and dump her when a chick comes across with a faster airship...But I would like her to hook up with Shadow. But many think shadow kills himself. So maybe she is better off alone?

BTW what do you think Kefka did when he had that slave crown on her? Ehh... I think Kefka was just trying to win over Terra... When he couldn't have her he went balistic.

I think that Terra is great by herself, considering her level of maturity, and mentioned asexuality. I mean, consider the girl's thoughts and emotions for a moment. A) She's not too long ago been released from a device that robber her of memories and caused her to wreak havoc, she's been half-esper and half-human, confusing enough on its own to give her a lot more questions than relationships to think about, added to that her recent Lack of an Esper side, and she might not have had so much time to form a real relationship admist so much fighting. When she Does get a break from fighting, she instantly makes a close connection, albeit with children, but that's who was there.

Agreed about her taking the role of a surrogate parent/needing/wanting a family relationship. Sooner or later, though, i think the human side of her would catch up with her. She might remain single, but I wouldn't place a bet on it.

As for potential mates, then, I'd say someone not introduced in FF, Edgar (Am I recalling correctly some meaningful conversation between the two, Terra laughing at him, and Edgar becoming so much less of a womanizer, egoistic, etc over the course of the game?), or Sabin. Though, honestly, I have a hard time seeing Sabin. They're too buddy-buddy, in my mind, to be in a relationship.

Sabin's just too odd for her, anyway, I think. He's much more brother-in-law material for her.

Consider, also, the similar situations/duties that Edgar and Terra have. Edgar has to watch over a whole kingdom of people that he cares deeply for. Terra has to watch over the kids. Both are reluctant to leave and fight for their respective dependants. Both have somewhat of a separation complex (If you remember, Edgar didn't Want to be king. Terra likely didn't Want to be left behind from her family & Esper people.), and both were reluctantly allied with the enemy (Terra by force after flaming the troops, and Edgar by force for fear for his people.). More or less, they can relate to one another.

I can't see her relating to Setzer, Shadow/Clyde, Cyan, etc. (Well, she and Cyan are kind of the last of their people, but even so.)

Also consider age differences. Terra is 18, Cyan is 50, Edgar, Sabin, and Setzer are 27, Shadow must be rather old, and Gau is only 13.

With all of this in mind, it's harder to see Terra with any of the main characters. Even if we apply a rule like "Celes and Terra actually are almost 19" and "Locke Just turned 25, and the three others Just turned 27.", we still come up with some distant age differences. Celes and Locke obviously happens, despite the 5-7 year age difference, but Terra and any of the other older males comes to 7-9 years of difference! This just makes it a stretch, to me, to see Terra with one of these other characters. It's still possible for Terra and Edgar to happen, due to their common circumstances, and that's what I'd favor if I HAD to choose someone, but.. I think I've said decent enoughfor now.

Review what's said in game, and consider that, as well.

But seriously, I feel that, had he lived, she most likely would have been with Leo. The dialog between the two aboard the ship seemed to hint at some future feelings. Sadly, his untimely death crush any possibility.

Shadow and Terra seems to be a reasonable conclusion as well. He seems to open up to her on the boat more so then he has to anyone since Baram died. Still, he too suffers Leo's fate, so it really isn't a possibility any longer.

Terra and Edgar? Why? Yeah, sure, he says a couple of things to her early in the game, but that's just because he's a womanizer. There is really nothing to suggest as the game goes on that they have any feelings for one another.
