The light is on yet the damn message keeps on saying "Your printer is offline"...

Did you go to your Printer Settings to make sure it's set correctly?
Did you check the cable to make sure that it isn't loose?

Start > Settings > Printers and Faxes

Is the printer new?

No. And I only see two wires and they're on the back. Is there supposed to be a third one on the front??

There should be a power cable and a USB cable. Both from the back. I don't know why you'd need one for the front.

Yeah I have both on the back. And I checked the settings. All it gives me is things I wanted to print but the status was offline. I wanna know why my printer is offline...

In the Printer settings you have to check the printer Properties to make sure that everything is set correctly.

When was the last time it was used?

Sometime this year. It was a long time ago though. Either 3 or 4 months ago. I didn't have Ink at the time. And how do I search properties?? Right click on the printers and fax page??

In your Printers and Fax page, File > Properties. Or right click on the printer.

Damn. I really dunno what's wrong with my printer. I have to ask my friend if he can print it for me instead...

Turn off computer. Turn off printer. Turn on printer. Turn on computer.

What bipper said. I hate getting 'printer offline' notices, as they're obviously false:O

You can also try:

Control Panel > Printers and Faxes > Right click the printer that's offline > Click "User Printer Online"

if you get such an option and see if that helps :D

I have not noticed that option before. :)

But if a printer is all set up and hooked up it still doesn't make sense to me for it to be offline in the first place.
