If you sleep all day and stay awake all night, how do you define the meals you have? Do you have 'breakfast' at 9pm? Or do you call it 'dinner', and have breakfast before going to sleep? Or do you just call it whatever the meal is most usually related to - ie, if you eat cereal, it's breakfast, and if you eat roast chicken, it's dinner?

Any meal at noon is lunch. If you get up at noon and eat, you missed breakfast and are eating lunch.

I've never even thought about that. :O

Breakfast is the first meal after you wake up, no matter what time it is.

Lunch is the meal that's not first, but no later than 4pm (or earlier than 10am)

dinner is a big lunch at the same time (like a lunch at church with the whole congregation, or at your grandpa's house with the family)

Supper is the evening meal ranging from 5-9pm

Dinner is a big supper at the same time (though usually on the later side) (like eating at a nice or moderately nice restuarant with the people you made all region with :D)

Anything else is snackage.

Basically breakfast is the only one that doesn't depend on time limits.

I just say them in order of when I eat them. If I wake up at 7pm, I have a 7:30pm breakfast, a midnight lunch, a 6:00am dinner.

I don't rename meals. That's barbarism. If you don't eat at some point in the morning then you haven't had breakfast and trying to say you're eating it at 4 PM or whenever is simply wrong.

I call it food.

Anything you eat within an hour of getting up is breakfast. Beyond that, I've got no idea. Meal names have confused me ever since someone added brunch into the equation. :(

Breakfast is any food ingested prior to noon.

Lunch is between noon and two.

Dinner/supper (same thing, imo) is the evening meal. It's floating. You can have this anytime after 4:00, really.

Everything else is just snacks.

I eat when I eat. I have no set times. It's usually late night since I sleep all day.

I eat junk food regardless of what time I stay up 'till.

Breakfast? Pizza. Lunch? A sandwich, and possibly pizza. Dinner? Sausages or pizza.

I wonder if I'm the only person here who classifies cereal as 'breakfast' regardless of what time you eat it or how long you've been awake.

I just call it "Cereal". However, I downright refuse to eat cereal at any time other than breakfast time.

If there's a nice tasting cereal out there, I haven't seen it.

If I eat that late, I wouldn't call the meals anything at all. Just food.

I've never thought about that either, though.

Never thought about it. I don't usually call my meals anything, regardless. I just eat when I eat.

I just eat when I want to, I don't call it "breakfast" or "lunch", but that one meal that I have to eat is called "dinner".

I do that too.

My Dad used to work night shift, so from when he first woke up, whatever he ate was breakfast, then lunch, then dinner. But he worked up in the mines, so the mess actually catered for the guys on nightshift.
