Your Party (holy crap I'm making an FF thread!)

1. White Mages

Who do you pick? I usually go for Eiko since she has more white spells and less summons, and I rarely bother summoning with my white mages anyways, since I always have Vivi tearing people up.

2. Attackers

Since I always keep Vivi in my party, I slide in Steiner, because I'm a magic sword fanboy. Loved 'em in FFV, love 'em here. Who do you use? I'd like to justify using Quina, since I'm a blue magic fan as well, but I really just don't. :\

3. Others? If you could kick out Zidane, would you? Who would you replace him with? I wouldn't kick him out, since he's just really strong and can steal stuff, and I like stealing.

1. I usually use Garnet because I guess I just like her better. I tend to use the Characters that I like more than anybody else. 9 times out of ten I ignore stats and focus on personality.

2. Zidane, Vivi, and Steiner or Freya, although I usually use Steiner.

3. No, I wouldn't kick out Zidane. He's one of my favorite characters.

If I use a white mage I will use both, but in my past couple of playthroughs I just equip Auto-Regen and that does all the healing for me

I have just recently started using Freya, but every other time I use Zidane, Amarant, Steiner, and Quina. I dont really ever use Vivi except when you have too. I do like Vivi, I just dont use him.

No, I wouldnt kick out Zidane. I steal alot and so Thievery is pretty good (around 8000, right now)

Zidane, Vivi, Amarant/Steiner and Freya are my usual choices. I never was a fan of mages in that game. I love Vivi but I find Garnet dull. Eiko who I'm okay with I just didn't use and I'm never much of a blue mage though I do like Quina.

Amarant and Freya provide reasonable healing for most of the game, they have chakra and reis' wind and a couple other useful moves. If I feel like it I'll bring in Steiner and if I'm doing bad healing I sometimes use Eiko but that's rare.

Zidane, Vivi, Eiko, Steiner. I really don't like Steiner very much, but he tearing people up with 9000+ every turn! Vivi does about 4000+ - 5000+. Eiko does 9999 with Holy, and Zidane does 9999 with his regular attacks.

Zidane, Amarant, Freya and Garnet normally, though I sometimes swap Freya/Amarant for Steiner, and if I know I'll need holy spells, I'll swap Garnet for Eiko. I never really found a use for Vivi or Quina.

I still have the Final Fantasy I mindset that a standard party should be Fighter/White Mage/Black Mage/ blank, so I always have Zidane, Vivi and Garnet or Eiko, depending on what summons I want at the time. I'll swap out the fourth slot with Steiner or Freya, usually with Steiner more because I like magic sword. I never use Quina or Amarant. Don't like 'em.

amarant and zidane are my fighters but if i played through again i would have freya as a fighter because although when she rejoins you shes at a low level she a dragoon and they are one of the best fighter classes in FF. and of couse i have vivi as the black mage .

Quina is nowhere near "crap". She can heal everyone and give them a huge burst of Hp (white wind). She is the first one to be able to deal 9999 damage (Limit Glove). She can put the enemies Hp to one (matra magic) and then all you have to do is steal from it with mug equipped. She can kill the Grand Dragons near Daguerreo extremely easy with Lv5 Death (great for leveling up). She has Mighty Guard, and Doom, and Bad Breath (which even works on bosses), Pumpkin Head is great all through the game, Night kicks ass (this works on bosses too), Angel's Snack is great for fighting Ozma, Frog Drop is another 9999 move, Magic Hammer is great on bosses, and Auto-Life helps a crapload.

And that's not even all of her magic...

it would be Eiko, She's better than Garnet. She learn Curaga fast and easy. Full-life is very good. Phoenix can revive and sometimes auto-party life (I get it when fighting ozma). Carbuncle is worth with vanish or reflect ability. madeen and holy could be eiko attack. She can also learn dispel. Trance double white is good by double the magic. That's all.

2. attackers
it would be vivi and steiner. vivi's cute but steiner's ugly. vivi's flare could be good at one enemy, death, break, stop, doomsday to enemy especially ozma when you're party protected with shadow. steiner shock and climhazzard are good. trances skill double steiner attack, but too bad I already have my steiner do 9999 damage with non-trances shock. vivi double black is amazing especially with meteor and comet. I would'nt kick viv out from party cause he's always with zidane. that's mean You use him ALOT. why would you kick him out since you train him so strong. steiner is cool cause you did not need to kill dragons, wait HP at 1, eating frog and many more. you just go with storyline and he's invincible.

3. others
zidane only worth at the beginning where you need to steal a lot for money. but after that i usually kick him at memoria, It's better to have amarant as a healer and attacker. quina's blue magic is good but to learn that you must eat enemies and thats tough (i dislike checking enemy HP). Garnet is just better at summoning, though she's the worst. freya is hell lot hard to train her dragon crest. amarant is best, he have return magic ability and few healing skill.

Zidane, Eiko, Vivi, and Steiner I think I would have to say is my favorite. Eiko's a better white mage personally, Vivi does so much damage (yay black mages!), and Steiner and Zidane are my strongest fighters.

Zidane - 'cause he's fast and can do good damage, especially with a powered up "thievery" skill. His steal can also be quite useful.

Eiko - Just for healing purposes.

Freya - Dragon Crest and other useful dragoon skills.

Amarant - just 'cause I like him

Zidane - Hmmm lets see.......you have to have him. He's for big attacks and stealing.

Amarant - Big attacks 2. Revive, Recover, Chakra and any of his usfull abilities.

Freya - More big attacks, Jump (just incase the enemy is a jerk and keeps wiping everyone out it'll miss Freya), Rei's Wind, White Draw.

Quina - Random attacks (50/50 chance of him/her dealing big hits), White Wind, Twister, Auto Life, Earthshake and anything else that deals big magik damage.

I find this party the most fun and challenging to use :D

Healing-wise is the chalenging part. White Wind dosn't really give much HP and Amarants skills can only be cast on a single character. For normal fights is easy but for bosses its pretty challenging.

I would change out Amarant for Zidane if I could.
Then I would use Steiner, Freya, and Vivi.

1.dagger is my white mage.not because she is a white mage,but because she is a summoner,and a better one than eiko.eidolon trance rocks (IMO,much better than double white).i had auto-regen so i never really needed healing white magic.and i am th offensive guy,more or less.

2.zidane=main attacker.thievery at 9999.steiner and vivi complete the party.always a doomsday caster,my vivi.

3.i will never get zidane out of my party.no,not ever.quina is generally good,but her unpredictable normal attack turns me off.and her blue magic generally cost higher than they should,IMO (except frog drop,which is the cheapest sure 9999 with half-mp equipped).amarant's most useful skills are the defensive ones.good,but i just dont like being defensive.freya,IMO,is also more inclined on defensive skills (i.e. jump,reis' wind).she's got dragon crest though,so she isnt that bad.lastly,eiko is obviously inclined on defense and support (better white magic,carbuncle,phoenix).though she has holy and madeen,dagger's offensive skills are still much better IMO.

if you have garnet, eiko, freya and amarant all with all of their abilities mastered there will be so much healing magic that the last stages of the game will be simple. garnet and eiko are WMs. freya has reis wind and amarant has chakra and aura.

You have to have Steiner and Vivi together. It'd be like taking a Fighter out into the wilderness without a weapon. They complement each other. Zidane is a given. I usually use Dagger for the White Mage slot, since Eiko annoys me immensly. If I had to put up with her through the final dungeon in my main party I think I would've lost it.

steiner has some l33t abilities
and freya can avoid attacks and be IN THE AIR:DDD

Haven't played IX in a few years but I used Amarant, Vivi, Zidane, and Quina.

Zidane
Has the Ultima Weapon, can steal, and is just an all-around good character to use in my opinion.

Amarant
He's a tank with his physical attacks and has good offensive, devensive, and supportive abilities.

Vivi
He's awesome, as I need magic somewhere in my party since I don't use Eiko or Sarah. His Flares rock too, as I don't like Ultima since it hurts my guys too.

Quina
I use him/her simply because of her Blue Magic abilities. I'm a freak when it comes to Enemy Skills, Blue Magic, Lancet, you name it. So when I found out Quina specializes in that, I used him/her ever since. Plus, I've caught the frogs, so Frog Drop (that's what it's called, right) does a very nice amount of damage.

Zidane- can't kick him out of party, stealing and attacking is the main priority (why would you kick him out from the party at memoria since you raised him so strong). grand lethal helps superb.

Eiko- healing priority, stronger than garnet in healing, learn ability fast, full-life, curaga, dispel help so much, healing summons. double white magic trance helps a lot.

Vivi- magic priority, equip any shadow absorbing equipment to absorb doomsday attack, flare massive damage, death, blizzaga, thundaga, firaga, (I only wish he had Ultima). double black magic helps a lot.

Steiner- attacking priority, shock, climhazzard and stock break is the best, no training is required to give shock (9999 damage) and climhazzard (9000 damage to all). double damage trance doesn't help me cause they already done high damage

basically, auto-hipotion and auto-regen healing are used.

1. I use Garnet, not sure why, just prefer using her.

2. I always have Vivi in my party, always, he's indispensable and I have Steiner in there too because he's more useful with the magic sword attacks.

3. I'd keep Zidane in the party because he has decent strength and he can steal and stealing is the only way to get ahead in life.

You don't actually have to use Grand Lethal. If you get him strong enough (which doesn't actually have to be that strong) then his first Trance move will hit 9999. Can't remember it's name.

Free Energy. He probably prefers Grand Lethal as it targets all enemies, but one could quite easily manage with Tidal Flame, Shift Break, or Meo Twister and save a lot of MP.

The formation I use the most is Zidane, Steiner, Vivi, Dagger.

With this party you have both defense and offense. Dagger heals and occasionally summons, Zidane attacks normally or steals (love that stealin'), and Vivi and Steiner bust out those magical sword attacks and other abilities. Sometimes I may switch Steiner or Dagger for Quina, because once you eat more then 100 frogs, you'll start dishing out powerful attacks. :quina:

You CAN kick out Zidane before you fight Necron.

1. Garnet. She's betterer.
2. Zidane, Freya, and Vivi.
3. No, Zidane's trance is far too powerful to boot out.
