Where does Cid go?

I've just taken control of the Garden, and I'm free to go where i like with it, within it's limited constraints...
I've been relooking at areas I've already visited before returning to Balamb, but I've one problem...
I can't find Cid anywhere, where does he go once Squall's in command. He's no longer in the infirmiry, his office or the basement?

Well, I've not been there yet so I'll just wait and see what goes along, I'm assuming he is going to return though, it seems a bit hokum to send Squall out to kill Edea then just to vanish, apparently to spend their remaining hours together....

But now that I think about it,would not Squall find him there and be surprised?
Even though we don´t see him entering the house on the second disc there are reasons to believe he does.

Also,I think he says something on the lines of the house having no habitants

Cid got bored, got on a Chocobo, went into a time stream, appeared in Lindlum and became a powerful Regent then came back later.
