I had a really bad fever today and I just had a dream (the bad kind) in which my house was on fire!!! When I woke up and saw my games safe and sound I was relieved. I have soo freakin many of them (100's) I wouldnt know which ones to grab. Thats how I came up with this question...

If you woke up and your house was on fire and you only had time to grab a few of your games (we'll say 5 of them) which ones would you grab.

My 5 would be
1)Valkyrie Profile
2)Brigandine
3)FFXI (and the book with all the codes)
4)Shadow of the colossus
5)FF Tactics (ps1)

Remember ONLY 5

I think I would probably grab my stuffed animal pinky before any game I had.

I think there are about a zillion things that I could think of to grab before any video game if I woke up to find my house on fire. Like maybe my family and my gerbils and cats, if they happen to be inside. Then it would have to be my files of legal documents and disks of old family photos, etc. Game are very replaceable and would be one of the last things that I would think of to rescue.

well I live by myself in a condo and I really have nobody to save and no pspers worth keepin except my college stuff but maybe I should just change the question then... If a magic glowing portal opened on your room and aliens came through it and said they were here from another world to destroy all but 5 of your games which ones would you keep?

Mitch
12-27-2005, 07:08 AM
i would save the 4 games that i own then ask them for a new one

kikimm

I would grab my Mitch.

I suppose I also might pick up Drakengard, Killer7, Silent Hill 2 and 3 while I was on my way out the window.

Resha
12-27-2005, 07:25 AM
I'd kick my family out the window so I can save them and take 5 things with me. In fact, after kicking my family out, I'll throw out about 10 things too, so that I can still carry 5 things with me.

1. My books (they COUNT AS ONE! Hah!)
2. Uh..maybe a change of clothes? Considering I'd be in my PJs and all.
3. My schoolbag, so that I can still go to school.
4. My wallet
5. My handphone, I guess.

Some years ago we had this exact thread except the choice was between your mother and your younger sibling. I like the idea that the value is comparable.

Probably the a few games from the Myst series, and Warcraft 3.

I agree with many others that I would save other things from my room first, such as my wallet with my IDs/cards and my computer tower.

I would grab my teddies, my phone and my computer!!:D

Anaisa
12-27-2005, 11:41 AM
Well most of my games are on a rack, so I wouldn't have to take individual games, I could get them all pretty much at once. But the first thing id do is get my pet hamster out of the house.

Little Miss Awesome

I wouldn't grab games, I've got none worth saving, I'd get my cats, some clothes, my kings of leon poster, my phone and my ipod :D

Assuming my pets and family were all safe outside:

My 5 would be
1) iPod
2) Cell phone
3) Computer, if I could manage to pick it up. But as mothers gain strength in times their child is in trouble, I'm sure nerds gain strength in times their computer is about to be burned. As awfully nerdy as that sounds.
4) My CD rack (I have 100+ CDs that I mostly bought myself, and I'd rather not have them burn to a crisp)
5) My art

Exactly. Minus the gerbils and the cats, as I don't own any. But definitely, albums. pictures and such wayyyy before anything electronic...

If everything else I cared about had been tossed out of a window or saddled to a dog or family member, and the last thing to do would be to rush into the burning inferno that was my room, leap across the burning roof beams and smoking hot embers of my bed, dodge airborn fireballs spawned from God only knows where, in order to get to my somehow perfectly protected videogames, the only thing I would grab would be my FFII cart, as it's the only thing that would be difficult to replace.

Also

3) Computer, if I could manage to pick it up. But as mothers gain strength in times their child is in trouble, I'm sure nerds gain strength in times their computer is about to be burned. As awfully nerdy as that sounds. Is the funniest thing ever.

Uhhhh... Keys, cell phone, it'd be kinda hard to get a computer out of the second floor with out damaging it, cat and dog.
But really, I'd just get out without grabbing anything.

Since i'd probably be too shocked from waking up to find my house was ablaze, I wouldn't be able to think straight enough to simply think "hmmm I better get [possesion]" and just concentrate on getting the hell out of there.

Lol. My thoughts exactly.

1. My cats can't get out on their own, so they're first.
2. Final Fantasy IV.
3. Super Nintendo. (Hard to find one of those anymore.)
4. Memory Cards.
5. And the dog, if she isn't out by then.

My games are in a huge CD wallet, so I'd grab that, my portable consoles since there so tiny and light (GBA Micro <3), and mainly the few things that actually mean something to me. One of those is around my neck 24/7, so I can exclude that from the 5 thing list..

1: Portable Consoles (I keep them in a bag along with the games, so it equals one carryable thing)
2: CD Wallet
3: A few personal things, like the Organiser my deceased godfather got me, stuff like that
4: My cat Gibson
5: My wallet

Games are quite possibly the last things I'd bother to try and save. Hell, I'd even try and save my shoes before I attempted to save any games. And I don't even like shoes all that much.

Primus Inter Pares

Guitar... and the CPU, I can't leave 7000+ songs to burn ;_;

Yeah, that's about it, everything else can be covered by insurance

And memory cards of course.

So I can download the games again, illegal as it may be. :P
It's not like I support downloading games, but if my house had been burnt, I wouldn't think much about this kind of things.

That would depend on what would and would not be covered by insurance. I take it that this is all assuming that the only thing left in the flat that I could pick up is my assortment of games (which would mean I'd either done a might good job of clearing out the other rooms before the fire got to them, or else I'd be jumping out of a third floor window and probably breaking bones and games as I land in the garden below.

But. Assuming it was somehow doable.

Final Fantasy VII, Suikoden, Suikoden II, Grandia, Grandia II. Why? Because FFVII is my favourite game and the rest are games I've not yet completed. Also, some of them are mighty hard to get hold of in PAL version and are definitely worth more than any other games I have at the moment, especially those PAL Suikoden discs. They're worth a small fortune compared to most games you'll find around the place these days.

I mentioned this to my Dad a few days ago, but I was talking about us getting robbed. Because my Parents and my Brother and I love our Electronical gadgets. My brother is getting a game collection, he has almost everything he's ever wanted he has hundreds of games and Its quite worrying if they ever got stolen, and downstairs we have a Hi-Fi, a DVD with surround sound and a 28 Inch TV. Personally, I don't think I'd get anything because I'd be panicing too much. Theres nothing I have that has Sentimental Value. I might grab my Rasmus Hoodie on the way out though ;) But *shrugs* Probably money to buy food!
