Why is there even a pause option in this game...
When you pause the time still runs and I cant find a single instance where it would be useful... I thought it would at least stop the clock but i left my game paused for a few hours and now i have a really bad time >.<

When your in the middle of a cutscene and need to go somewhere quickly, that pause button comes in handy.

Pause comes in extremely handy, for the reasons mentioned. It can be annoying that the clock still runs, but it's not that big of a deal anyway.

hmm i guess i might need it in cutscenes when i really have to pee but oh well its not like the clock matters... unless... is there something like the Excalibur II from 9 where u need to go fast or idk

Pause is definatly usefull when you need coffee as I usually do (can't play Final Fantasy without coffee :D ). But the only thing that really annoyed me about pause on this game was that you couldn't pause during battle. I mean, yeah so they don't attack eachother because its CTB but I just don't like leaving the thing run with everyone still standing there......it just feels wrong. I'm probably just a weirdo ;)

I feel the same way. Except I have this paranoid feeling that the enemy is going to cheat and attack while I'm not looking. :shifty:

it sucks doesn't it...
wat was really annoying 4 me was that my bro was wanting 2 play MY (yes MY) ps2 and play ff10 (also mine) so he monitored how long i went on the ps2 i left it over night on pause coz i couldn't find a save point and the last time i saved it said 190:00  it sucks

It's not so bad...yeah i have that wierd feeling when I leave it seymore's gonna kill me since most of the ffs are ATB but i'm glad i don't have to rush my party to attack before the enemy does.

what would be amuseing is if this thread was made in the FFX-2 forum.

eeesh. now there's where pause can come in handy! as far as ATB goes, that was the best.

i prefer the turn based in this game... requires more thinking less char developing imo

I love turn based battles as I am definitely not a Mortal Combat whiz kid. My clumsy fingers suffered enough in the chocobo races in FFX!
But I just loved the battle system in FFX2. The screen controls during and after the battle are so slick and cool! Plus a bit of speed doesn't bother me, and FFX2 required A LOT more thinking!
You can pretty much spend the whole game with Gunner's "Trigger Happy" and catnip w/o any different strategy. But before you get catnip, or if you want more variety to your battles you have to "evolve" your strategies. Every dressphere helps you complete the game in her own way. For example, Songstress lets you survive until chapter 3 then it gets too weak. Dark Mage rules in most places but it is too weak for the Bevelle Cloister. Berserker is terrible for catching Chocobos as it includes auto-counter attack, but it is pretty strong otherwise... in the farplane, when you fight dark element and etc you need gunner and white mage but in other battles you'll need something else as Gunner has low HP and only one good attack.
That's what I like about FFX2 battles. They are fast and require strategy and you have to change it depending on the enemy you face, it's not just a question of picking one move and sticking with it the entire game (Bo-ring!)

yeah ffx-2 was fun except for the fact all the male characters were gay and all of the female ones made random outbursts like "Awww... Poopie!"
