Not really. The game walks you through it, of course. FF7 isn't my favorite, but I'd recommend it to any beginner, due to its simplicity. (I found it to be easy, at least). However, if you want to start with my favorite, play FF4. XD

you should so get into FF!!! You should start on FF7 as it's quite easy to understand. You'll be hooked on FF once you start!

I think that FFX is the most welcoming to new players, with added depyh for the more experienced.

FF10 was the first final fantasy game that I played, and I, like you, got into Final Fantasy through Kingdom Hearts. Personally, I felt the transition from Kingdom Hearts to FF10 was the easiest, since it's the same platform, and FF10 is more linear than the other final fantasy games. Sometimes Final Fantasy games can be a bit daunting for newcomers (I remember trying FF8 right after KH and finding it very odd), but after completing FF10 and 7 (which is also excellent), I found the mechanics of games like 8 and 4 to be much easier to understand and follow.

Ha ha, sorry to have given you such long-winded advice. I'm still but a newbie myself. :)

I started with IX. It is pretty basic and non-confusing.

Great RPG

FF7 or FF8 (preferrably 8)

Well which character looks cooler to you?

The junction system of FFVIII is confusing, especially at first. Plus, VIII has Rinoa.

lol You got VII? Good! What's cool about VII is you can make it through the first disc, thinking you know exactly what's going on, then, in disc two, you say, "WTH???!!!!!" I swear, my head still hurts. LOL It's hilarious, but I almost cried at the end of disc one, and if you don't know what I mean, I won't ruin it, but it's all over the VII sec, so be careful . . . oh, and if you're like me, you'll be compelled to change Aeris' name back to the original Aerith . . . don't know why, it just bugged me . . . LOL Srry, I'm very hyper right now . . .! X is my least fav, noooooooooo make that X-2 . . . that one was HORRIBLE! Good luck with VII, if you manage to beat it in under a year, you'll have surpassed me . . . lol

I'd go with FF7, because its pretty straight-foreward and easy to manage for the most part. : )

If you're picky about graphics, then start with FFVII. FFVIII is good but the Junction thing is confusing at first (once you figure it out it is the best system of all the FFs IMO).
My favorite FF is 10. It is the best FF EVER (maybe 8 is, but I'm not sure).

Though if you start with 7, be warned, Sephiroth is a pain in the ass to beat. 80,000 HP plus 80,000 more if you use Knights of the Round Table on Jenova, plus 30,000 for every character at level 99. I was lucky to beat him once but I never saw the ending. I keep trying but I can't do it again (I almost got it once, but Tifa became confused and used an X-potion on him)

That's why you should equip them all with ribbons.

good idea to start with ff7 and also pick up ff10 and 10 and 7 are my fav because of lulu and vincent are in them thats what makes them my fav and all the ff are good belive i dont pick my fav over character here is my scores

ff7-10/10
ff10-9.9/10
the reason i gave ff 10 a 9.9 is because ff7 story is little better

i would say ffix first, then ffVII. ffix really defines final fantasy. and ffvii has a cool story and isnt very hard.

Don't meen to sound rude, but doesn't that sound like a pick up line.

I'd say start with nine, great story and cool characters. Sure it needs to work on character developement for a few of the characters, but hey, can't be perfect.

For sake of simplicity of battle system I recommend this order:7, 1, 6, 4, 9, 10, 2, 3, 5, 8. For an easy game: 7, 6, 8, 10, 1, 2, 5, 9, 4 ( ihaven't beaten all of 3 yet so I can't speak for this one yet. If ya want reasons, ask! Oh yeah, and for story/characters: 6, 9, 10, 7, 8, 4, 5, 1, 2, (can't judge 3 yet). btw 1 is very addictive, just don't expect too much story (to it's credit, it was a great story at the time)
