I was wondering if there's anyone who'd like to try this for me. I managed to get Google Talk onto my college account, and it's the only IM service that works. It seems quite good though, but you need a Gmail account to use it. www.google.com/talk
If you need a Gmail account, ask me.

Why not just use MSN? it's probably the best instant messenger thing around.

You should download Google Talk then, but beware, if you're on a shared server it will install straight to the C-drive rather than your shared space.

I don't see the point in keeping google talk. Anyone I know the gmail of has y!m, aim, or msn, and with trillian I'm on all those at once.

We used to be able to use GTalk at work when it first came out, but the higher ups made the IT dept put a cap on that quick.

Apparently, Google signed a 1 billion dollar contract with AOL to have Googletalk be compatible with AIM. I don't really see the point of it all.

Do not doubt the infinite knowledge of Google. All will become clear in time.

Seen it long time ago. Interesting, yet boring.

Pfft, don't try anything new then. I'm not bothered now anyway. I know that Google Talk is working and the only reason I wanted to find out was to find out if I could talk to my girlfriend with it.
Um, but thanks for the help.

Heh. I guess it's only interesting if you're a Journalism major and concerned about the democratization of news media these days. :p
