I wanted to listen to some new music, so I went to see what Amazon.com recommended based on what I listen to, and I get recommended Epica. So I went out and bought their album Consign to Oblivion.

Very good band, from what I could hear in that album. It's a Netherlandish Rock Opera band which seems to be what I've been into lately. The singer is this extremely talented mezzo-soprano, Simone Simon. I'm really impressed by the band. I wasn't expecting them to be great, so I was happy. :)

What impressed me the most was Trois Vierges by them, a ballad duet, it's amazing. It was the most opera-ish song on the album, so I loved it. Simone's voice really comes out in it.

The only thing that I don't like by them is their lyrics are a bit flower-ish, but as their first language isn't English and I can't write that well anyway, it's not something that bothers me much. And it's good that they keep the death growls to a minimum, only in a very few songs, and not much of it.

Recommended songs:

Trois Vierges
Solitary Ground
Bland Infinity
Consign to Oblivion (A New Age Dawns Pt 3)
Force of the Shore
Quietus

Tell me what you think of them if you download some of their songs?
