We've recently had to deal with a spam thread in this forum that was sitting around for a couple of days. One of the members who had previously been given a final warning for such activities has now been banned and even more members warned, but what worried me the most is that nobody at all seemed to alert us to the thread.

For this reason, I thought I'd give the members of the X-2 forum a little advice for such situations - use the Report Bad Post feature. :) This little button looks like this: http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/buttons/report.gif and can be found on every post, either at the top right or bottom left depending on what postbit location you use. When you see a post that you feel is nothing but spam or an insult to another member or anything else that you feel would break the rules, please use this button and let us know what is wrong with the post (or thread that the post is in).

We will be trying hard to keep up with all the forums around here, but sadly some do managed to slip through our nets. Hopefully when they do slip through, you can help us by reporting posts. Thanks for your time! If you have any questions, feel free to PM myself or any other staff member and we'll be sure to help you.

Figures it'd be this forum. Nobody reported it, because... ah well, that's just an opinion, and probably spam. I rarely come in here, but when I do see that stuff in here I usually find it humorous simply because its in here. Which is beside the point. I know there can't be double standards just 'cause its the least respected game of the franchise. I guess what I'm saying is I know where they were coming from. Though I'd certainly never... well... maybe once xD j/k

Posts that are off topic or rude or many other things, i'll let everyone else explain lol:)

Posts that are off topic or rude, as stated by Sora!, as well as posts that simply don't contribute to the topic - eg. someone posting nothing but "lol" is considered spam. Someone talking about the price of fish at their local dairy in the middle of the X-2 forum is spamming. For the most part it's just a case of "use your head and you'll be okay" though - we'll let you know if you're doing anything wrong when it comes to spamming long before we decide to take any serious action.

some people do not seem to take notice though of things, and especially when people cannot even be bothered to type legibly(sp?), it makes things twice as bad when we try to read posts.

=/ Sure, if they are not orginally born in an English speaking country, then it's ok I guess.

However, if people have a good knowledge of English and continue to spam or whatever, they need to read this thread to know about how to behave.

Another thing is Double posting which seems to come up in the X-2 forum more than most others. If you wish to add anything to your post use the http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e230/S_o_r_a/EditDeletebutton.gif instead of posting twice in a row:)

What I'm trying to say is that dozens of people who are actually highly literate can spot this stuff every day and know it's wrong but never use the warn feature. I'm targeting them to let us know where to look, as we can't catch every thread. :) Once we do find out the people causing the problems, then we can deal with them as neccessary. :)

For what it's worth, they'll never know it was you anyway. *shrugs* Some people think it's bad to report people for wrongdoings, some people think it's right to prevent wrongdoings happening again. I certainly hope you're all part of the latter, for your own sake. But hey, so long as even 5% of you report posts then we should catch everything.

Sure are lucky that we're not in your school. Around here, nobody knows who grasses on you - it could be anyone, only the staff will ever know - but you will get caught, and so will they, and then you both end up punished. That's why you're better off 'grassing' on people when they're doing something that's clearly wrong.

There is no 'code' around here. If you follow a 'code' then you'll probably end up worse off for it.

A member who is not a mod but does so anyway is also worthy of being reported.

I can't stand it when people sit there and argue about the dumbest things, like whether or not Yuna's an attention hog or whether or not Rikku dresses indecently. Shouldn't stupid stuff like that be made illegal too? There's truly no real point to it...

sure. but I kinda hate to use this bottom, doesn't that make us ...erm...alittle evil?.
well, when we do use that bottom I think we should read the post or the thread carfully before we report on something that doesn't need to be warned.
anyway, I will keep an eye on EOFF security.
and I'd like to add, that EOFF has the best mods there is,*8bows down*.
