Can we play the Ps2 Ver. Of FFXI on the Ps3? Or will they make a new update for it like a new updated version of the current on on ps2 for the ps3? I can't find ANY info. About this I just bought mine for the PS2 and and I LOVE IT! I know the Xbox360 is Getting it and the PC has it. So where does that leave the Ps3? Please help me out.
I am always looking to make new friends on FFXI. :)

Ouch!

I don't think they're making a version for the PS3, if that's what you mean. I'm also not sure what the situation would be for installing it on the PS3. It might mean you'll need to keep your PS2.

You should have gotten the PC version. So much simpler.

There's no information, because I doubt that Squeenix is going to go through the trouble of making a PS3 version of FFXI. Especially not after they've discontinued it for PS2.

One reason i would say is that PS3 did not show any support for an HDD yet, so they are keeping themselves quiet until the PS3 is confirmed to have a hard drive. Theres no use otherwise.

The other factor i feel more likely is that PS3 wont come out for a while, and that if they release one for PS3 too soon, people will not buy their Xbox version in which some people are buying Xbox for and instead get PS3. So to not hurt MS or Sony, they are holding back.

Also they might just release more PS2 versions if the PS3 can handle it lol

Sony doesn't do any online support, they sorta sunk FFXI themselves. Hence SquEnix hurrying up over to 360 with it. Full online support over there on Microsoft's team. But I have a feeling that'll probably be the only FF there.

Yes, but I thought I remember reading somewhere that FFXI on the 360 will be pretty much the only game that operates outside of the Xbox live world, so MS wouldn't really be supporting it.

Well it wouldn't have to. The game would connect to Square Enix's servers. Its their system. Its probably how all console MMORPGs would work. Live is just for competition or regular mutli-player. There's communities and stuff. Like you could run Diablo 2 on your own server if you knew what you were doing. But most would prefer to be part of the Blizzard community rather than just friends (or in Live's case, random junkies?). I dunno how to describe it. But I understand why they would seperate themselves from Live.
