I've enjoyed riddles in other forums, but I didn't see one here.

A couple of ground rules, which are typical for these kinds of threads:

1) Only one riddle should be posted at a time, until someone guesses it correctly.

2) The person who guesses the previous riddle correctly gets to post their own riddle.

3) Anyone who gets a chance to post a riddle can choose to let someone else post a riddle instead.

4) If a person who guesses a riddle correctly does not post one of their own within a day, someone else can post instead.

Here we go:

The monarch's salvation
But only in the right hands
A gift for your allies
Brought by one of three

MogThief
01-13-2006, 07:48 PM
They can be items, too, right?

BG-57
01-13-2006, 08:33 PM
Absolutely. People, places, things, items, weapons, treasures, lands, history. Anything that's directly from the game.

Behold the Void
01-14-2006, 07:01 AM
For some reason I want to say the Zodiac Stones but I also think it is very wrong.

BG-57
01-15-2006, 05:32 PM
The first line is the most critical.

conan
01-20-2006, 11:49 PM
SAVE THE QUEEN
am i correct?

BG-57
01-21-2006, 12:00 AM
You are correct conan! :)

You get one when Meliadoul joins, and she's one of the three Divine Knights the party encounters. Only Knights can wield it.

Your go.

conan

This is going to be a massive riddle, so brace yourself:

1. A monster that can accumulate twice in one AT
2. A guest who comes with a healing staff
3. A standard job which can equip swords and robes, but not armor
4. The job in which HP restore can be learned from
5. The name of the zodiac monster fought in Igros castle
6. The location where Orlandu joins your party
7. The geomancer ability that can add "Don't Act" status
8. The white lion, not the black
9. Ghoul's extra ability when standing next to someone with Monster Skill
10. Monster which gains the ability "Dark Whisper" when next to someone with Monster Skill.

Now, take the last letter of the answers to the 10 above riddles to form a word(or two), and tell me the location where you first encounter it.

BG-57
01-22-2006, 12:39 AM
Sacred
Alma
Soldier
Monk
Aldramelk
Bethla Garrison
Kamatachi
Larg
Grease Touch
Tiamat

Dark Knight

You first encounter the Dark Knight Gafgarion in the very first battle, gamewise: Orbonne Monastary.

Great riddle conan! :)

conan
01-22-2006, 12:42 AM
very nice, but for number 3 i was looking for geomancer, as soldier is not a standard job. but yes, please post a riddle now.

BG-57
01-22-2006, 12:55 AM
(slaps forehead) :trout:

Squire didn't fit, so I went back to my first guess there.

Dearest to me
Dank and foul
Wears a name
So unfitting

conan
01-22-2006, 01:05 AM
I want to say Reis, the holy dragon? but its probably wrong

BG-57
01-22-2006, 01:06 AM
It's not the Holy Dragon. You are thinking along the right lines though.

conan
01-23-2006, 10:15 AM
apanda?

BG-57
01-23-2006, 03:09 PM
Not Apandas. It's a specific generic monster.

MogThief
01-24-2006, 03:50 PM
Is it a ghoul?

BG-57
01-24-2006, 07:32 PM
Not a Ghoul. It's a specific monster that you hear about only through a proposition.

MogThief
01-24-2006, 08:17 PM
Is it a morbol?

BG-57
01-24-2006, 11:57 PM
It is a Morbol.

conan
01-25-2006, 05:50 AM
alright mog thief, lets hear a riddle from you!

BG-57
01-25-2006, 12:17 PM
So I ask you: is Little Carrot an appropriate name for a little girl to give to a pet Morbol?

Ziekfried
01-25-2006, 06:36 PM
So I ask you: is Little Carrot an appropriate name for a little girl to give to a pet Morbol?
Is that riddle? If not I say yes. She is only a lttle girl after all. What else would she call it?

BG-57
01-25-2006, 07:32 PM
It's more an observation than a riddle. I understand that little girls give cutesy names to things, but Morbols are not cute monsters. :greenie:

Ziekfried
01-25-2006, 09:29 PM
Well then maybe a Uribo or a Mog would be more aptly named Little Carrot. By the way do you know of a girl who named a morbol such 'cause that would be most intersting.

MogThief
01-26-2006, 03:26 PM
It's too late for me to give a riddle, but I'll give one anyway just in case BG-57 changes his mind about the 24 hour rule. Sorry I'm late.

Acts like a bridge
Has a coating
Hard to see

BG-57
01-26-2006, 08:41 PM
S'ok.

Worker 7 New?

MogThief
01-27-2006, 07:36 PM
It's not Worker 7 new.

BG-57
01-28-2006, 01:55 AM
I can think of several things that each line could apply to, but not all three together.

Vanish Mantle?

yuno
01-28-2006, 03:10 PM
king behemoth

MogThief
01-30-2006, 02:16 PM
It's not the vanish mantle or king behemoth. I'll give you a hint: it's something you acquire after completing a proposition.

BG-57
02-01-2006, 12:20 AM
Mirage Tower?

MogThief
02-02-2006, 02:58 PM
Yup. Your turn.

I was wondering -- how did you type that text next to your avatar?

BG-57
02-02-2006, 08:29 PM
Many paths for the same result
Once through persuasive talk
Twice by mindless bludgeoning
Thrice by the heart of a wyrm

Click on Private Messages for yourself, then click on User Control Panel. Under Edit Profile, type in a new Custom User Title. Volia! :)

Lost Number

After being here a while.

Gilthanes
02-03-2006, 03:28 AM
Invitation?

Not sure what exact word you are looking for, but it involves Reises dragon invite, Train skill, and the Invitation skill

BG-57
02-03-2006, 11:46 AM
You mentioned what I was looking for, skills that add Invite.

Your turn Gilthanes! :)

Gilthanes
02-03-2006, 05:13 PM
This should be pretty easy, but I cant think of anything better atm lol

Master of the sword
Thought to be dead
carries the holy stone of justice
'overpowered' is all need be said

Tempest
02-03-2006, 11:13 PM
Orlandu?

Gilthanes
02-04-2006, 02:29 AM
Yep :)

You're up

btw your sig is mispelled. Its Samurai, not Samarai

Tempest
02-04-2006, 02:57 AM
btw your sig is mispelled. Its Samurai, not Samarai
Yeah, I know. I was wondering when someone was going to mention that. It doesn't bother me really.

Okay, riddle, riddle...

I heal the injured
I damage the undead
I go with the one
Whose fate is about to unfold

Who am I?

Kinda easy I think.

BG-57
02-04-2006, 01:44 PM
Hmm...this could be either an item or a person.

Alma? She carries a Healing Staff that heals allies when hit with it, and it damages undead.

Beoluve
02-04-2006, 02:52 PM
YAeh BG-57 I think your right that is what I was going you guess.

Tempest
02-04-2006, 03:02 PM
Yep, it's the Healing Staff. Your turn BG-57.

BG-57
02-05-2006, 01:19 PM
Three in all
And all for one
Their deadly secret
Can only be heard
In hushed tones

Despotus
02-05-2006, 10:30 PM
I'll guess the riddle refers to the Tiamat's 'Dark Whisper' attack, one attack, three shots, and quite deadly.

BG-57
02-05-2006, 11:47 PM
You are correct Despotus! Nice to see you back. :)

Despotus
02-06-2006, 07:21 PM
Thanks BG! I'm stuck in a remote area, just can't find much time to be online. Here's a riddle for yas:

Balbanes did fall,
Balk had a ball,
The Chemist made the call.

BG-57
02-07-2006, 12:43 AM
Mosfungus?

Despotus
02-08-2006, 12:12 AM
Mosfungus it is! It's your go, BG-57! That was quick!:D

BG-57
02-08-2006, 12:32 AM
You may defeat him
But he keeps coming back
Only if you pursue him
To the ends of Ivalice

Ziekfried
02-08-2006, 03:07 AM
Lucavi?

BG-57
02-08-2006, 11:54 AM
Not the Lucavi. Dealing with this guy is completely optional.

Tempest
02-08-2006, 09:14 PM
That guy Zero, who is dealt with through Propositions?

Beoluve
02-08-2006, 09:55 PM
Could it be Wiegraph. I dont think it is though.

Gilthanes
02-08-2006, 10:32 PM
I never did all the Side Work you could do, and thats really the only optional thing to do other than the subquest with gathering all the stones with Beowulf, Reis, Worker 8, etc.

BG-57
02-09-2006, 12:00 PM
Kain's_Girl is correct! :)

The answer is Phantom Thief Zero, who appears in about half a dozen propositions scattered over Ivalice.

Tempest
02-09-2006, 04:12 PM
Yaaayyy!!! Okay...

It was just a case
of mistaken identity
Betrayed by the ones
who were like family
Her end, was his beginning

Gilthanes
02-09-2006, 04:14 PM
Teta. They thought she was a beoulve so they kidnapped her, and the people who were like a family to her, left her for dead. And thus started delitas crusade.

And no I dont feel like doing another Riddle, someone can do it for me :)

Tempest
02-09-2006, 04:26 PM
Ah, but what makes you think you're right?

Well...

You are. :)

And, I'm not going again.

Gilthanes
02-09-2006, 04:33 PM
I was THAT confident in my FFT knowledge :)

MogThief
02-09-2006, 06:51 PM
I'll go, then.

Only for the adventerous

Im pretty sure it is a proposition but I forgot the name.

BG-57
02-09-2006, 09:35 PM
Discovery Races?

MogThief
02-10-2006, 09:30 PM
Yup. By the way, I couldn't find the option to add a text next to my avatar, but thank you for helping anyway.

BG-57
02-11-2006, 03:38 AM
A playful feline trait
Can be deadly to your foes
You'll get a kick out of it

Gilthanes
02-11-2006, 03:51 AM
Arg I know what you are talking about but I cant think of the name of it

feioncastor
02-11-2006, 03:51 AM
A playful feline trait

I think that cuars use a move called "Cat Kick". That's all I can think of.

BG-57
02-11-2006, 03:56 AM
You are correct feioncastor. :)

feioncastor
02-11-2006, 06:30 AM
K, here's mine:

I ask one of four questions:
Where are you?
How strong are you?
How ready are you?
Are you almost stronger?
I don't worry if you're friend or foe,
it's all the same.

Note - BG-57, what does that mean "somebody set us up the bomb"? Is that from something?

BG-57
02-11-2006, 04:25 PM
Hmm...Delita.

"Somebody set us up the bomb.", "What you say?!?", and "All your base are belong to us." are quotations from a hilariously mistranslated side shooter called Zero Wing. Here's images from the prologue:

http://rpgplayers.tripod.com/zerowing/

Although "All your base are belong to us." references are now outdated, I updated it by adding in everyone's favorite FF monster: the Bomb! :D

feioncastor
02-11-2006, 04:34 PM
Hmm...Delita.
Not Delita.

Try answering a few of those four questions. That might clue you in.

Beoluve
02-11-2006, 04:55 PM
Is it Altima?

feioncastor
02-12-2006, 01:22 AM
Is it Altima?
No.

Get into a battle, then choose any character, friend or foe, and ask all four questions about that character. Just say them aloud and see if you can figure the answer that way.

Gilthanes
02-12-2006, 02:52 PM
Calculator, very clever. Your Height level, your Xp level, Your CT and your current XP Total. And it targets friends or foe :)

Teta?

Beoluve
02-12-2006, 10:49 PM
Is it dycedarg (ramzas older brother)?

Gilthanes
02-13-2006, 02:14 AM
Not Teta (if you use Gameshark, you'll see her "class skills" only contain Cure spell and Wish.

Not Dyceburg either

MogThief
02-13-2006, 02:52 PM
Is it Zalbag?

BG-57
02-13-2006, 05:42 PM
I don't have a Gameshark.

I agree that Zalbag is the next logical choice, but I'll guess Izlude.

feioncastor

Alrighty here I go.

It's Algus. I'm almost sure of it. He does have break techniques under his "Guts" command. And He does die.

However, I think Algus may only have Head and Armor break....

So having said that, I almost sure that it's not Algus.

Tempest

That's what I was thinking too. Plus, you're able to see that he has those skills so I don't think it would be Algus.

Gilthanes
02-14-2006, 06:26 AM
Sorry took so long to reply to this. It was Zalbag I was referring to. His Destroy Sword is like a foolproof Stat-Break skill a knight can use, its just he never uses em in the 1 battle you get to team up with him.

Although Algus was a logical choice as well

Mogthief was right :)

BG-57
02-18-2006, 02:30 AM

MogThief

You don't happen to know G SpOtZ, do you? He used to call me that too. :greenie:

Edit - BG, you notice my new location? While you were busy in my base, you got aced.

Ha, ha. I had to laugh when I read that. :D

Here we go:

One part of a wall
The damp plant small
Last bed for man
A chasm's span

The branches of life
A metal for strife
Food for the mind
Tables, chairs to find

feioncastor
03-15-2006, 01:16 AM
You and your attempts to rhyme will be the ruination of this thread. Just because I rhyme doesn't mean you have to. Because when you rhyme, it's ridiculously hard. When I rhyme, it's stupidly easy. See the difference, Beej?

BG-57
03-15-2006, 02:44 PM

feioncastor
03-15-2006, 04:15 PM
Yes. Yes I would.

BG-57
03-15-2006, 07:25 PM
Each line refers to a different word. All eight are connected.

feioncastor
03-16-2006, 02:17 AM
Last bed for man might refer to coffins and such.

The chasm's span probably is a bridge of some sort.

Food for the mind = Jesus, amiright?

The damp plant small almost definitely refers to high quality marijuana. Probably "the branches of life" too. Yeah, that's it.

So I've got Coffins, Bridges, Jesus and weed... Hmmmm... Sounds like a good movie.

BG-57

You are correct for two lines:

One part of a wall
The damp plant small
Last bed for man (Coffin)
A chasm's span (Bridge)

The branches of life
A metal for strife
Food for the mind
Tables, chairs to find

BG-57

You are correct, Kain's_girl! :)

Kamaitachi affects the following environments:

One part of a wall (Brick)
The damp plant small (Moss)
Last bed for man (Coffin)
A chasm's span (Bridge)

The branches of life (Tree)
A metal for strife (Iron)
Food for the mind (Book)
Tables, chairs to find (Furniture)

Your turn.

Cool. That was a good riddle, BG-57. :)
I'll try to think of a riddle and post it. If I don't post one within 24 of this post, someone else can go for me.

Edit: Okay, here's a riddle.

This is not my first apperance
I've been seen 4, 9

The invading agent,

Right equipment, right spell, wrong castle, Despotus.

Wrong equipment -- Elmdor doesn't have his Genji set at Riovanes. But anyway... Not sure what the guess specs are, but I'll say the "Limberry Castle" battles.

I fear not
The cold prison, Cold prison = death; Zodiac demons pay it no mind
For I have 25 to break it's walls,
The insatiable thirst, Blood Suck, a cornerstone to any Arc Knight
Another 26 shall quench it,
The wet skin, Either the dampness in the underground cemetery, or the location of the castle near Lake Diara...?
I keep 28 for warm blood,
The invading agent, Lucavi
29 serve as my guards. Celia Lede or those undead knights in the cemetary?

I thought the numbers meant something along the lines of storyline battles or attack power, but since I can't be bothered to check at the moment, I'll take a shot in the dark. =p

Despotus
03-27-2006, 09:07 AM
You are on the right track with your first couple of guesses, but not the rest. The whole riddle has to do with just ONE thing, like BG-57's riddle consisted of clues all relating to the Limberry Castle. All 9 lines of my riddle are parts of only one answer. Comprende?

BG-57

No, sorry. The 4 numbers are a big clue.
Status effects are involved, too. Fear not? Refers to protection from the status effects.

I didn't think to add the numbers together! I kept looking up where in the game those numbers appeared separately. Vertical heights, JP cost, MP cost, the order battles comes in, prices in Gil; I couldn't get anything to fit.

Awww... thanks B, your turn! :D Now don't anybody go hurting themselves (or me) over that one.

As BG-57 said, 25+26+28+29= 108, the cold prison refers to the Zombie spell, insatiable thirst (as Shotgunnova guessed) was about Blood Suck, the cold skin/blood thing was Frog, and invading agent was for Poison. With 108 Gems I fear them not.

BG-57

The king is checkmated
The queen is captured
The bishop is sacrificed
For the knight's sake
The smallest pawn
Is still in play

Who are we?

Despotus
03-29-2006, 09:00 PM
That's 5 people in all, right?

Here's a guess:
The checkmated king= the late King Omdoria
The captured queen= the imprisoned Queen Ruvelia
The sacrificed bishop= Simon gave his life to save...
The knight= Ramza
While the smallest pawn= Orinas is still in line for the crown

Maybe I got a couple of them? There are sooo many "knights" and "bishops" to choose from, this could be tough. :exdee:

BG-57

I'd agree with feioncastor that it must refer to how Vormav (a temple Knight) was using High Priest Funeral for his own sinister purposes.

King Omdoria
Queen Ruvelia
High Priest Funeral
Temple Knight Vormav
Lil' Prince Orinas

*edits*

Here's a pretty obscure one, I hope.

BG-57
04-04-2006, 05:00 PM
Ultima?

Despotus
04-05-2006, 01:22 AM
Nope, but a very good guess. Ultima does have different variations, all similar. Ultima uses dark energy. It can be given to one other character (Ramza). And I even think that visually it goes from the ground up. Don't know if you are connecting lines 3 and 4 to the overall picture though. I added the words "and" to line 4, and "use" to line 6 to hopefully make it a little clearer. In another day or two I might add a couple of new lines which I originally thought would make it toooo easy! Keep those guesses coming. I promised you all it was a tougher one this time. ;)

Tempest
04-05-2006, 01:25 AM
Dark Holy?

Despotus
04-05-2006, 01:27 AM
Sorry ma'am. Good try. Dark Holy uses dark energy. And it is a sort of variation on the Holy spell. I can see why you might take that guess, but there are other lines that I don't think would fit a description of Dark Holy.

It might help me give you more direction if everybody puts a little bit of explanation for their guesses? It doesn't have to be an explanation for each line or anything but just for why you thought your guess would be right or even close.

conan
04-05-2006, 07:30 AM
well sir, i just visualized each of the lines in my head, and for some reason my guess is:

Wish???

Despotus
04-05-2006, 08:53 AM
Nope. There are a couple of characters or even a few characters that can use wish. And wish is a sort of plea toward heaven? I don't see your connection to the other lines though. The answer to the riddle is not a skill you'll get to use.

EDIT: Ooops, that clue could be confusing. Allow me to rephrase it: The answer is something that some characters can use (in fact the riddle says just how many you'll see use it at the time), but it isn't an action any of your characters can take in the traditional sense. That's better. I hope it helps. I've also edited my last two posts to include what I think the guessers may have been thinking. However, they're off track. I will let everyone know if someone gets any part of the riddle right. Good luck! ;)

Not two NPC's, just one, and somebody else. Gotta go to work. Be back in an hour or two.:)

Despotus

The NPC is not a 'wizard' type, but the other person with this skill IS Ramza!! :D Yes, somebody got part of the riddle right!! Good guess Sephiroth1112! That gets you one step closer to solving it, but there is a lot more to this riddle... :greenie: The first step is always the most important. I think from here things are going to start making a lot more sense to everyone. Keep it up, guys! (...and Kain's_Girl ;))

BG-57

Let's see...Ramza and Delita share the skill set Guts.

Is it Scream?

Despotus
04-07-2006, 01:35 AM
The answer to the riddle is not a skill you'll get to use.

EDIT: Ooops, that clue could be confusing. Allow me to rephrase it: The answer is something that some characters can use (in fact the riddle says just how many you'll see use it at the time), but it isn't an action any of your characters can take in the traditional sense. That's better. I hope it helps. ;)
As Scream is an action that Ramza can take in the traditional sense, it is not the answer. You must think "outside the box" on this one. I'll say it again, the answer is not an action or spell.

The gooood news is that BG-57 has 'subconsciously' guessed another part of the riddle!! Yeayyy! Delita is the other person we see use this skill at the time referred to in the riddle. You must be getting very close now... Good luck, and God speed!

Not their skill set either. :(

I have added the two lines that I originally thought would make the riddle too easy, as well as some punctuation. I hope this will help to get you thinking along the right lines. I'm looking for the "it" that is mentioned in what is now line 3 of the riddle. Remember this is not about a conventional battle skill, but something else. I hope this is enough of a hint for you. You have no chance to survive make your time! Ha ha ha ha! :radred:

The scene in question has Delita and Ramza discussing Teta's kidnapping (the lost love), and his feelings of uselessness. Then they discuss the fact that Balbanes (he who's above) taught them to play the reed flute. Delita plays a solo on the reed flute and Ramza joins him in a more high-pitched tone and they play a duet together.

The identity of 'it' could still be several things, but since it's singular, I'm going to guess the music of their reed flute duet.

Despotus

As darkness falls, = at sunset
Thoughts of a lost love. = thinking of Teta
From earth to sky it calls; = reeds grow in the earth, and the flute is played into the air
They remember he who's above. = remembering Balbanes who has gone to Heaven
One who is carried = Ramza is carried along by the events of the Lion War
And one who is driven, = Delita is driven by the events of the Lion War
Comparable but varied, = the pitch of their flutes varies slightly
Use a skill that was given. = they're both using a skill taught to them by Balbanes

What does "it" refer to?
"It" refers to the reed flute. You got it, BG-57, your turn!!

A 5-day riddle, not bad. *high-fives meself*

In real life, my FFT knowledge is unmatched by anyone I know.

Then I come to EoFF and people here make me feel as though I'm a newb to the game!

Seriously, it's crazy. IRL, everyone I know that plays FFT comes to me with their questions about how-to's, plotline, and anything else. But here, dang!

Not that it's a bad thing. I'm not upset or anything. It's just weird, that's all.

I see it this way: we're all a select group of people from around the world that happen to share a passion for a great but undervalued game. Kind of like a secret society, without the secrecy stuff. :greenie:

What was the motive?
Jealousy most likely
Ironies of ironies
The tormentor
Is more cold-blooded
Than the victim

Who are they?

Hail, Oromis, and welcome to our "secret society without the secrecy", EoFF! I hope you have an enjoyable time 'round these parts. :tonberry: Hey, I just noticed your birthday is the day before mine! And BG's is right around there too. Let's have a party in Gen. Chat in late Oct.!

As for BG-57's riddle, my guess would be Reis Dular for the victim and Priest Buremonda for the tormentor. Buremonda was envious (motive was jealousy) of the love between Reis and Beowulf, so he cast a spell to change Reis into a dragon (Reptiles are cold-blooded) and had Beowulf branded a "heretic". That seems to me to be even more cold-blooded than a reptile. Ironic? I'd say so.

Welcome to EoFF, Oromis Finiarel! :) You gotta watch out for those Halloween babies!

Despotus, you are correct! Buremonda and Reis are the two in question. Incidently, the whole Buremonda/Reis/Beowulf subplot is ripped wholesale from Ladyhawke. An excellent movie, all told, but the 80's synthesizer soundtrack is quite dated now. :greenie:

Oh no, that means I've got to squeeze my brain again and try to get another juicy riddle. This is going to hurt. :exdee: Ooowwww!! :Oo:

Okay here it is:

One sought power and was sacrificed,
One sought purity and was punished,
One sought vengence and was redeemed.

One wouldn't invite the hero to dine,
One invited the hero to combine,
One invited the hero to ride,
All invited the hero to die.

Three are one in blood,
Two are one in faith,
But only one is two, in one.

Not really too tough this time. There are lots of clues in there. I am asking for 3 names.:pimp:

Alma Beoulve, Zalbag Beoulve, and Dycedarg Beoulve, and not necessarily in that order.

Alma Beoulve, Zalbag Beoulve, and Dycedarg Beoulve, and not necessarily in that order.
Very good guess feioncastor, but unfortunately it doesn't fit certain parts of the riddle. Particularly, the line "All invited the hero to die". You could argue that even Alma, as Altima "Bloody Angel", did want to kill the hero; but Zalbag never really wanted to kill him. Also, Alma was the only one of the three that had a strong sense of faith; here we need two. None of them were seeking purity either, IMHO. The rest of the clues do fit your answer well, so you were pretty close. Try another three people. ;)

Well, dammit Lich3636, you are right! Unfortunately you appear around this forum about as often as the guy who checks the gas meter comes around my house. That is to say, once a month. So yeah, somebody else post a riddle. I'd really like to hear one from feioncastor, he has been right in the past and close so many times, but hasn't posted a riddle in forever. :greenie:

If you want some explanation about the last one:
Sought power, sacrificed= Vormav hungered for power, and had to sacrifice himself in order to resurrect Ajora.
Sought purity, punished= Izlude wanted a pure, holy Ivalice; his father punished him severely for his failures.
Sought vengence, redeemed= Meliadoul blamed Ramza for Izlude's death, but eventually saw the error of her ways and changed.

Wouldn't invite the hero to dine= Vormav said something like "I won't invite you to dinner because I'm very busy now." to Ramza at Murond.
Invited hero to combine= Izlude told Ramza he should join forces with them because they both wanted the same thing.
Invited hero to ride= Meliadoul asks to travel with Ramza to see Dycedarg.
And at one time all of them wanted to kill Ramza.

The 3 of them share the same bloodline.
Izlude and Meliadoul are Shrine Knights who are faithful to the Glabados Church. Vormav, well...
Let's just say Vormav has some problems brewing inside him.

Neeeeext!!!:tonberry:

Misunderstood as wealthy
Yet so poor
And not by money, necessarily
But by the very essence of life, that is,
I'll approach from the beyond
when you ask me for assistance

BG-57

Aeris? She owes this ridiculously huge debt to theives that's she's trying to pay off one lousy Gil at a time, by selling flowers. :O_O:

The Soldier Cloud comes to her rescue after arriving from another world where the Aeris he knew there dies.

feioncastor

Nope, but excellent guess. Well fitting, but Aeris is necessarily poor by money.

The answer to this riddle is an entity that is not nessarily poor in terms of money.

Here's a hint. The number "600" relates very directly to the answer.

Despotus

Ask me for assistance sounds like a Summon to me, poor by the very essence of life makes be think undead, and approach from the beyond again makes me think this is an other planar summon.

I'll guess 'Lich'?:skull:

Just noticed Feioncastor's new clue... I think I may have gotten it! :jokey:

feioncastor

Yep, you're Despotus.

But can you identify all the clues as they relate to the answer?

You've mentioned poor by the essence of life, from the beyond, and assistance, but what's with the wealthy thing? And what does 600 have to do with anything?
