Fan Made Tactics?

I've been lurking around the net for sometime looking for something that i belive would please anyone here...

a final fantasy Tactics sequel or remake... or fanmade...

now, i dont understand a lot abotu coding and game desing... i know that one time there was (96 i think) a RPG 'Tactics' Maker... basicly a RPG maker on FFT style...

we know that most roms can be hacked and alter... i dont know if that applies for PSX roms (iso?) though...

but maybe someone can help me out with this...

is there any hope or way to edit the content from Final Fantasy Tactics? Sprites, Text, Textures, maybe mechanics?

if it was possible (being that the game can be emulated and temper with a gamshark) there would be hope to maybe create something like a FFT remake or fanmade sequel ported for PC's or Just Emulated on a PSX emulator

To edit the game and use present resscources of the game and add new things to create another one, did I got that right?

I don't think this is possible in that way.. Rom Hackers have been able to change sprites when translating ("inn" signs at house-sprites for example) or to change dialogues, but to change whole game-mechanics should be as good as impossible, I guess.

Not so much as changing the mechanics, but Tweaking it...

Changing enemies, making the game a little bit harder and/or tunning down some powers to make it more balanced...

at first, translating a PSX rom (if possible) would be great... it would prove that its possible... from there, changing some variables, Sprites, Textures... and if a miracle comes our way... adding stuff...

it would be a FREAKIN hard work... but if it was possible, its easy to say that hundred of coders and Fans would help
