I started a new game in FF VII and I want to know the secret to learning limit breaks. In my other file, I beat the game while Tifa and Barret still had their level 1 limit breaks and the others still had Level 2 or part of level 3. Are their requirements to learning limit breaks, like do my characters have to be at a certain level to learn them or do I need use the limit breaks a certain number of times to learn more? Help me please

Use limit break 8 times to get the second for that level. Kill 60 enimies with that char for the next lvl.

The 1st set of limits are afffected by number of kills a single character has done. The
2nd set is affected by number of times a character has done the 1st set of limits.

The number of kills is different for some characters... but it is usually around the 60 - 80 kills

The number of limits needed to obtain 2nd set of limits ranges from around 8 to 4...

I'm always surprised by how many people don't know this.

1-1: Each character starts with this one.
1-2: The character must have performed his 1-1 Limit Break eight times.

2-1: The character must have killed 80 enemies.
2-2: The character must have performed his 2-1 Limit Break eight times.

3-1: The character must have killed an additional 80 enemies.
3-2: The character must have performed his 3-1 Limit Break eight times.

4-1: You must acquire this Limit Break as an item, and the character must have learned all his previous Breaks (1-1 through 3-2) before you can apply it to him.

Exceptions: Cait Sith only has two Limit Breaks. He starts with Lucky Dice and has to kill 80 enemies to learn Slots. Vincent only has four Breaks. He starts with Garian Beast, must kill 60 enemies to learn Death Gigas, must kill another 60 enemies to learn Hell Masker, and his final Break is learned by acquiring it as an item and then applying it once he's learned the previous three.

Is that accurate or is it approximate?

It's exact.

Ok, thanks. i'll give it a shot

But I also heard that there are glitches that don't allow you to learn a limit break no matter how many times you kill enemies, etc.

3-2: The character must have performed his 3-1 Limit Break eight times.

Thats strange. My Cloud only needed to do six Meteorains to learn Finishing Touch. Oh well...

But I also heard that there are glitches that don't allow you to learn a limit break no matter how many times you kill enemies, etc.Well, to put you at ease, I've played the game numerous times and gotten everyone's Limit Breaks without once suffering a glitch.

Well, the glitch probably only happens with a bad disc. I never got it.

But for the 2-1 limit break. Does it have to be 80 enemies after aquiring 1-2?

Kawaii Ryűkishi

No, the requirement is 80 kills at any time. So you can get 2-1 and 3-1 without ever getting 1-2.

You serious? But is it possible to earn your previous limits?

Yes, you have the option to switch which level is active at any time from the Limit menu.

The values 8 Limit Breaks and 80 kills do not apply to all the characters.

Click here (http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/psx/game/197341.html), scroll down to the Party Mechanics Guide (TFergusson), press Ctrl+F and search for '3.1' (Earning Limits).

Although it mentions these values seem to vary between games, they are in no way exactly 8 Limit Breaks and 80 kills for each character.

One additional thing:

I discovered that HP <-> MP materia can help speed up the learning of 1-2, 2-2, and 3-2 limit breaks. With a maximum of 999 HP and Cover materia, your limit gauge fills up in no time, even against low-level enemies.

Although you get it so late in the game, it doesn't help much.

Help me pleaseThere's also another way of learning limit breakers faster...do you have the "Deathbow" and "counter" Materia? this allows you to learn it faster then before..(Plus,You'll noticed limit Breaker brakes more offen..) I hope this helps you..:mog: :choc2: :choc: :D ;)

tried, tested and proven way (by me and my friends,at least).

let's use cloud as a template.

braver:basic limit,no requirements
cross-slash:use braver 8 times

blade beam:kill 80 enemies
climhazzard:use blade beam 7 times

meteorain:kill 80 enemies
finishing touch:use meteorain 6 times

omnislash:use omnislash (item) on cloud

put yourself in fury status (hyper) to gain the second limit of each limit level faster.

I cast fury on Aeris (use hyper on her) and let her get beaten up around Junon so she could get all her limit breaks, both the first and second of each level. There were groups of 4 & 5 monsters round there so it took about an hour to learn all of her limit breaks. I wanted to see great gospel.

If u want to skip a limit break or 2 as i have done in the past train up vigorously in one area.
Say if u have Braver and u r in the number 1 reactor train up in one room or place and eventually when u have met the needs 4 a new limit break it might skip 1.
Guard Scorpion was as good as dead when i used Blade Beam and i know this has nothing 2 do with it but i once even got a pre...something materia in there. I can't remember the name and i can't remember how i got it. It was wierd tho.
