I got speakers for my computer but they won't play sounds. It works when I plug them into the headphone jack of my iPod but not my computer's speaker port. I played video and get no sounds then I tried playing an MP3 on WMP and it stopped saying no audio devices were detected. How can I fix this?
Keep in mind. I used Windows XP's hardware detection and it's STILL not showing up.
I downloaded new drivers for my soundcard but I keep getting "Code 10, device cannot start" errors. I follow the troubleshooter but I still can't fix it.

What soundcard do you have in your computer?

Soundblaster AWE32

I just checked creative.com support and they've stopped supporting the AWE32. Additionally, they did not have any drivers for the AWE32 under Windows XP.
I would suggest looking for a recent Soundblaster 16 or Live card as a replacement.

It's strange that this happened because all of the times I reinstalled Windows XP I never had this happen.

So you had it working with XP before?
And where did you download the new drivers?

Yeah, I had it working on XP. But I can't remember where I got my drivers. I just googled.

All of these drivers aren't working. I still keep getting Code 10 errors.

Well, official drivers from Creative are probably the most stable and compatible. Unfortunately, there didn't seem to be any available for XP.
I don't know what to do in this case besides getting newer hardware.

If you can put aside $27 (or even $19), <a href="http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.asp?Manufactory=1137&PropertyCodeValue=0&PropertyCodeValue=0&PropertyCodeValue=0&PropertyCodeValue=0&PropertyCodeValue=0&PropertyCodeValue=0&PropertyCodeValue=0&PropertyCodeValue=0&PropertyCodeValue=0&PropertyCodeValue=0&description=&MinPrice=&MaxPrice=&SubCategory=57&Submit=Property">get a new card</a>.

I'd try drivers for Win2000 first, they can work with WinXP in some cases :p
