I was just thinking about how much money I spend on computer games lately. Now the question is, what is the most that you have spent on a computer game?

For one, I'm a miser when it comes to games. I don't actually think that I've spent more than 20EUR(approx. 20$) on a game, considering that the new games cost about 50EUR.

Now I know a guy, who has spent 15 000 $ on a game. It's an online RPG called Achaea MUD. Great game, but I couldn't possibly imagine spending more than 300 $ on a game. Well, that'd be the absolute maximum. So I verbally fell from my chair as I've heard the number. One thing is sure, he got almost every goody you can get.

So, what's your personal record on spending money for games? I bet you'll all beat my 20$.:)

For a single game? I think it was a shade over $100, which is what I paid for Xenosaga some years back. IE Before I had any American friends. Hmm, yeah, it'd have been about $105 to $110.

Of course added up, I think City of Heroes now comes out at about the same, but I don't really count subscriptions so much.

For a computer game, I think around $50.00. I almost always wait until they drop to $35 or less though, unless I was serverely hyped about it (see: Call of Duty 2).

Well, including monthly fees, I've probably spent over $200 on Ultima Online. I've never spent more than $30-40 dollars at one time on a computer game, though.

I can't think of a game I've paid more than 60 dollars for. That was Majora's Mask.

Probably Steel Battalion for about $150... I'm a little sad because I'm too scared to play it since it erases your save if you die too many times...

yeah, I played Ultima Online for over 3 years so I know what you mean. The last 20 years I've been playing games I could count the number of times I spent the whole $50 on one hand. I usually buy a used copy or wait it out till it comes cheaper.

1) It erases your save if you die once. Not a few times. You get one life!
2) You can eject and try the mission again...but you will lose the mech you used because you ejected on the battlefield. I don't know what happens when you run out of mechs.
3) Your save file sticks around because you can go back and play missions you have already completed. I recommend this to screw around with other mechs to hone your skillz.

$80 for Guild Wars collectors edition.
I bought that for $50 AU, which equals about $37.6750 US (about).

Oh wait...I got the 'special' edition. Are they the same thing?

The most expensive game I have seen was Warhammer 40K: Fire Warrior for $150 AU ($113 US)

Except for Project Entropia, I have absolutely no idea. I think maybe some of the most modern arcade machines cost that much, too... certainly not a MUD.

That's what you think.:p

I've played Achaea for 1,5 years now so I do know quite a bit about it. Basically, the game is absolutely free. You can, in theory, get everything that a member who pays can get. The difference is that a member purchasing CREDITS will gain his skills much faster, will be able to buy Artefacts(i.e. special items giving you bonuses. Mind you, I don't have a singe one yet) and get some accessories like a large house.

Now, as far as I know, the average credit purchaser spends either 120$ or 300$ on the game. Those are the two categories of players. The third one is not paying a thing.

Now this guy wanted to be very good in PvP(player vs. player) so he got loads of credits, giving him all the skills at maximum level and an inventory of artefacts. That's how you do it, though you know, it actually means that he got virtually every useful or less useful artefact in the game.

No idea. Maybe some people are just very rich.;)

The most I've ever spent on a game was probably...hmm, $150. I don't really buy games that often.

First off. WHAT. I've played Achaea. Where the hell is 15,000$ even NEEDED for that.
Edit: What's the point of playing a game if you're going to pay to be elite? It takes the fun out of leveling.

I've spent a maximum of 70$ on a game to date.

Oh yeah, Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles costed $59.95, that was money well spent. :eep:

Well yeah.

Assuming people like levelling.

According to gamespot, my games collection is worth $16,000+ but that's just shy of 400 games. Come to think of it, I should probably get a rider on my homeowner's insurance to cover that. As far as a single game it was probably the WOW collector's which was $70 if i recall. In terms of a used game, I recently picked up Disgaea for $40 or $45. Totally worth worth it.

Well, buying credits doesn't really level you up. It helps a lot, since you can make 1000 damage instead of 300 at some point of the game, but you still need to level your wa up.

And yes, you can spend 15000$. Just consider the fact that he bought 50k credits. That's roughly the amount above. You can spend them. Buy a huge mansion... with 150 rooms. Ok, buy a palace with 150 rooms and a whole set of arties.

How... how did you manage to pay $150 for UT?

Grinenshire: Fair enough. It seems implausable, but I suppose things of that nature would be rather costly in-game. xD
