View Full Version : Where to start FF?

Hey guys. This looked like a good board to post on..and popular. :p

I'm looking to get in on the FF games, and would like opinions on where to start in the series.

Before you answer, I'd just like to say I need either good game play and/or good graphics. I like my anime girls :) and I really liked Advent Children. I play too many mmo's to bother with Online.

I've been told 7 by some, and X+ by others.

Suggestions, opinions, ...help.

Thanks in advance.

Out.

Dear Ron,

Thanks for stopping by Eyes on Final Fantasy. Unfortunately, I believe you have been misguided; Eyes on Final Fantasy is not a Final Fantasy site, and I'm afraid very few members - if any - will be able to provide very comprehensive information about the series. I'll leave this thread open though, in case someone does come by. In the event you choose to stay here anyways (for whatever reason), then welcome!

Sincerely,
Neel

Neel is not a moderator so I wouldn't listen to him.

You should probably start with 7 unless you are into challenges and strategy, in which case you should play ff tactics.

I mean, uh, yeah. Welcome. And, uh, seven. :shifty:

Personally, I think you should start off with either FFVII or VIII, however, if you want to try something different, maybe you could start on an older game, like VI. If you liked Advent Children, then start with VII, since you enjoyed the DVD sequel.

Start with VI or VII if you want a good way to get into the series. Start with VIII, IX, or X if you want a good way to get into the series but ultimately want to look like a dork.

FF7 is a good newbie FF. Of course, FFT is the best FF ever made, but you need to have a superior intellect to enjoy it

there all good games but if you like your graphics start at 7 and work your way to 10 that way you will be able to appreaite the improvements they made to each new game.

FF1 or FF3 (not FF6)

The fact that it's not your first just means you're only mildly retarded. Or just slightly delusional.

Anime girls are awesome. They don't talk back.

do start with Final Fantasy VII, but never skip the most important chapter of all - which would be Final Fantasy VIII.

if you like cliche storylines and simple as gameplay where you never ever ever lose.... go for VII.

VIII is neato :) its cliche but includes hard gameplay.

If you really want to get into FF, I suggest you start from FFI and go up from there. Anything else wouldn't be correct. :cat:

Thanks guys.

Seems the most popular opinion is VII so I think I'll start there.

I know that people we're "supposed" to play them 1 and on, but hey, like I said, I dont want to be put off of the series.

So tommorow, Imma find me a copy of VII. :)

Welcome. :D

I agree with Raistlin that FF7 is a great place to start, but if you're up to the intellectual challenge of micromanaging a battlefield, Tactics is the way to go. :)

I really started to get into FF with FFVII. But I didn't start with it, I started with FFI and FFIX. But FFVII is the way to start!

Welcome to EoFF. :)

Well, if Hsu wasn't so scary and abusive, I'd demand to join The Sharks. Work on your sensitivity, friend.

Start with 1 and work your way up, friend. If you want something with slightly better graphics, go with 7. If you want to be a big loser and bitter oldbie like Raistlin, Bert, and possibly Doomgaze and Bleys (If they still posted), go with Tactics. If you wanna be like ShlupQuack and possibly smite Raistlin by playing the polar opposite of a good game like Tactics, go with FF8. =]

I suggest you start with 10. It's fairly short compared to most of the FF games and it's a good one to start with until you get used to the general layout of it. Then try 7 and 8....

I think you should start with FFVII or VIII. Graphics arent everything you know. Personally, IMO, these 2 have the best storylines in the series.

Just start with anyone you can find, some are quite rare these days:)

PS Oh and Old Manus funny joke LOL:)

I say you start from I and go on from there, *snip*. If you can't find FF1, you should get the PSX or GBA version. These versions also include FF2, which was originally for the NES, but was never released in America. If you can't find FF4 for the SNES, you should get the PSX version. The PSX version comes with Chrono Trigger. FF5 was never released in America until the PSX version was released. FF5 for the PSX comes with FF6. But do remember, Final Fantasy 4 was already released for the GBA, and FF5 and 6 are on their way to the GBA as well. But FF4 Advance does NOT come with Chrono Trigger! Remember this.
