PS2 problems

My PS2 is having problems playing PS1 games. I'm thinking of buying a new one, will a slimline PS2 not go bad like that after a few years?

Does it play blue bottom PS2 games?

Nope, keep getting disc read errors. The I tried a few PS2 DVD games. So far it plays sometimes I put in the disc and it just acts as if I never put a disc in it till I open and close the tray about 50 times.

My first PS2 did that. I bought a new one after that (almost three years ago now) and it has never acted up once. It's not a slim one though.

I see. I'll probably go do that next time I go ourt. I'd get it fixed but my warranty voided because I took the top off once to get it to play Namco X Capcom.
