I think there was an active topic about this show but I don't feel like digging for it.

This season started out pretty good with the assassination of Palmer. He was a good character but this opened the door for an intriguing storyline of what led up to this. Of course, the show started to drift away with this whole summit thing but I hope they come back to that. Michelle was expendable, but I'm glad Tony survived the bomb (so far). Tony needs to live! He's the only character besides Jack and Palmer who's been in all the seasons! And now Palmer is dead.

Everything was going well, Jack was wanted for the murders and had to resurface, and there was someone trying to stop this summit. But now, 4 hours into it, it's already back to the tired 'series of terrorist disasters threaten America and only Jack can stop it' formula. I am talking about the poison gas they teased for next episode. I hope that blows over quickly and just leads to the main storyline, which usually doesn't come out until hour 8. If it is just more terrorist crap, I'm not going to be amused. Also I don't like that everybody is all of a sudden cool with Jack being alive and working with CTU. He should have been a fugitive for longer, trying to work out the pieces of his frameup as the hours grow fewer. I like the addition of Rudy though. His character should make it interesting.

i think this show is just Fox propaganda to make americans afraid of terrorists and therefore make us willing to subjugate ourselves to the Bush dictatorship.

Then why the 24 hour format?

eestlinc

to make it more entertaining, so we notice the propaganda less. it's just subtle. Stuff like "it's ok to torture to prevent a nuclear attack".

They actually did a bit of that last season eest. The president said no while CTU said yes.

I liked the opening with the killing off main characters from seasons past to get them out of the way to make way for the new. There is obviously a really big player in all of this as he is controlling everything from behind the scenes.

I agree with Del that it looks to be going into the tried and true formula of 24. I wish they would just kill Jack...but keep him dead this time. Season 1 was the best as it really didn't follow the tried and true formula so much. You knew one of the main objectives by episode 1, that objective never changed and they kept bringing in more to the story from the past as it went on. The bad guys really only went through one change through all 24 episodes. By far the best season. I wish they would do a smaller more contained story line like that again. It just makes it better.

The show's unquestionably well written (although I often find myself wondering how Jack can get from one side of LA to the other in ten minutes, but that's television for you), but on the whole I'd have to agree with eestlinc :monster:

I haven't watched it this season though, so I can't really comment any further :monster:

! How could I forget to mention this. I HATE this president they have now. I like Palmer. I like Palmer's predecessor. I do not like this new president that went from vice president to president last season. He is a MORON!

"I don't need to hear the details...just get it done"

*later on*

"Jack Bauer is helping you? Isn't he one of the suspects?"
CTU: "Its complicated and would take a while to explain. It is a detail that can be gone over after this crisis is averted."
"No. I want to know everything and then I will decided what is important and what isn't"

The guy just sucks.

OH MY GOD! NOEZ!

Season Five doesn't come until February in the U.K.! You just ruined a part of the first episode! SPOLIER TAGS, PLEASE! AGH!

You mean you have not downloaded the episodes yet? Even I am doing that and I have already seen them.

Great season so far. I really doubt the whole nerve gas thing will be the main storyline. It's going to go deeper, like it always does.

I'm loving this. The fact that they killed off Palmer is absolutely awesome. Palmer is by far my favorite character in the whole serious, and killing someone you actually liked makes it a bit more personal, even though it isn't real.

And we still don't know why the terrorists are trying to frame Jack. This should turn out to be very interesting.

...And now I'll end this post with the obligatory "24 is the best show on TV" thing.

Who cares! It makes me happy in my very soul, and besides the start of day 5 I've only seen a few day 2 episodes on A&E.

Sorry, thread title edited.

I hope the person behind this is someone good. Also I agree that the president sucks.

The president is very obviously a character we're meant to dislike. :p I only watched Season 2 and was sick of the over-the-top suspense and cliffhangers with the start of Season 3, but I watched the second half of this season's opening and I'm hooked again. It was very well written, blah blah blah. Great show.

Yes but there are two kinds of dislike. The one where we hate him, and the one where we hate to watch him. This guy is the latter.

Logan is horrifying... I yell at the tv whenever he goes into total d-bag mode..... I loathe him almost as much as I loated sherry... and I'm a women who loathed her sherry... but I digress

Yes, so far so good on this season. I'm not really liking the chick Jack was renting from, she seems something of a diva, I spose she's the new kim =P
I hope they start edging in more tony

Yeah, let's get Tony recovered already. He's probably only signed for a few episodes, so they'll likely save him for the end.

This week's was really good. A lot of plot development.

Tony is probably done for this season. I doubt he will be able to recover enough to do anything other than say a few words and anything he says will probably be in significant at this point.

I'm starting to think you might be right... I was hoping he would have a miraculous 24 style rapid heal (not unlike chase cauderizing a bullet wound through his hand w/ a red hot poker and being fine 10 minutes later ) but yeah, last time they showed him he didn't look like he'd be doing alot of anything this season... it's just not the same w/out the "power circle" (bauer, tony, michelle, palmer and chloe)

edczxcvbnm
02-11-2006, 07:25 PM
What kind of power ciricle is that? Mason, Jack, Palmer, Tony and Nina is my power ciricle. They really rocked rocked on.

Now that I mentioned that...has anyone noticed that as the seasons moved along CTU became much more tech oriented or they are placing a really big focus on it now.

If thats possible?

I like that the President's wife might realize that it isn't a good idea to drag Cummings wife and what not through the mud after this episode. MIGHT!

I greatly dislike the order the president made as well the recommendation of Ling and Buchannian. Sacrafice citizens? This will come back to bite them in the ASS!

This episode was good until the terrorists got away. Can they hurry up and find that gas already and move on to the real plot? If this is all this season is then it's going to blow in the second half.

Anyway, yeah, that was such a stupid decision.

Did I miss something, or did Jacks ribs magically uncrack?

No...Jack is just THAT bad ass. After being revived from the dead...twice. Crack ribs ain't to him.

I have a feeling they will get the gas in 2 episodes. But right now CTU has no clue there is someone higher up. They all think that Cummings was working directly with those terrorists.

Yamaneko
02-15-2006, 07:18 AM
Doesn't CTU know that Cummings was getting orders from that one dude with all those video screens around him? They didn't know who he is (next episode it looks like Jack will contact this man), but Cummings said it was another "patriot" or whatever.

Del Murder
