Here are my predictions for Halo 3's story
I think Halo 3 will possibly have a Xenogears style storyline.
I think that the origion of humanity was either started or carried on by either the Flood or the Forerunners. According to the Halo books there are certain Aztec ruins that have markings and runic symbols that resemble those of the symbols on the walls of Halo 04 and 05. Maybe the Forerunners were alot like the Covenant only they had Human members in it. The flood might be connected to since Gravemind, a massive flood entity called "The Monument to all of your sins". Most likely Halo 3 will see a special unity between Broken Covanent (Elites, Hunters, and Grunts) with Humans. Also at the end of Halo 2 (after the credits) Gravemind asks Cortonna questions, maybe she'll reveal the location of earth, and the Flood will go there, maybe she'll turn traitor to Master Chief and the Marines.
And there's also a factor on how the Monitors of the Halo installations all speak english. Maybe the Forerunners spoke it 100,000 years ago before either disapearing or dying.
