Do you ever go on talking even when you know you should shut the hell up? You know that little voice that keeps telling you to be quiet. It can be really hard to listen to that voice, expecially if you're as stubborn and thick-headed as me. There are sometimes when I should just shut up, but I can't...I hate that I'm not in control. So, do you ever experience anything like that?

I like the irony in that post

Answer - It looks really stupid to just cut off mid sentence

Oh god yes. I also do it on the internet. I expect to be banned within the week. I just never shut up, especially on certain subjects.

Can't say I have that problem. I believe it's related to maturity, somehow.

Generally I know when to keep quiet, but when I get in a social situation and start drinking I talk way too much. usually about goofy stuff though and everyone has a good laugh. Also when I get really nervous I can overtalk.

Frequently.

I do agree with Neel, somewhat. In the last couple of years I really haven't had this problem. I guess you learn how to shut up and how to speak appropriately.

I generally think before I speak.

I go on tangents all the time. But most people don't really seem to mind, I just tell myself that no one cares what I'm talking about, but I shrug it off and continue talking. I guess it's better than not talking, since it took me years to open up.

I rarely have that problem, because when I do talk a lot it's just with close friends and I don't have to worry about offending them. But, of course, every once in a while I say something to someone else that's really stupid and I instantly want to take it back. Then I wish I had just shut up.

I agree, but more than often, I've discovered that a lot of people are way too easily offended.

By what right do you judge how offended people should be by things?

The easiest way to remedy this problem: don't speak. It works for me. ^_^

I just try to think before I talk. Can't say that sometimes I can't shut up even if I'm wrong about something. >___>

When did I ever do that? I'm going by what I experience in my life -- more than often people have been offended by insignificant things like how others speak, type, and even behave. I try to live my live without any judgement at all, but any normal person should know a reasonable line between the reality of behaviour and total stupidity.

I must admit I myself am a little self-full in that department.

Some times I feel that way, it all depends on the subject though.

If I feel I really should shut up, I just try to steer my sentence to a non-awkward close. This happens a lot for me, sadly!

I don't go into monologues or anything. My biggest problem is relating something someone did to something embarrassing I've done. Or... just hinting that I've done something embarrassing. Then they're all "Give us details!" and attack me :(

Though if someone's amusing, why shut them up? :D

I do it all the time. That's why I don't have friends anymore. :(

That normally only happens when I start talking about FF or anime.

I don't think before I talk, sometimes. I mess up! And yes, oftentimes I talk too much! But if I'm not comfortable with the person, I don't talk at all, so maybe its a good thing? *appeases the people she has annoyed* :D
