You have to learn Capture with a Hunter and use it on a weakened monster. Keep in mind that some monsters can't be captured. You gain a Hunter by teaching a HUMAN archer 2 A-Abilities (not support, not reaction, ACTION).

For both, you only need 2 Soldier A-Abilities.

I think tonberrys are uncatchable as capture always had a 0% on it.

You cannot capture the following monsters:

- Any undead monster (zombies, vampires)
- Any rockbeast monster (bladebiter, toughskin)
- Any fairy monster (sprite, titania)
- Any tonberry monster (tonberry, masterberry)

Some things to note also when attempting to capture a monster:

- The monster you are catching cannot be the last enemy on the field.
- The monster you are trying to catch cannot be ko'd.
- The monster may be special, and in turn simply uncatchable (bosses and the like)

And here is what can be captured once their HP is lowered considerably:

Goblin
Red Cap
Jelly
Ice Flan
Cream
Bomb
Grenade
Icedrake
Firewyrm
Thundrake
Lamia
Lilith
Antlion
Jawbreaker
Red Panther
Coeurl
Malboro
Big Malboro
Floateye
Ahriman

A final thing to note is that you can miss capturing the Goblin monster and the Thundrake monster, due to the fact that they show in unrepeatable missions.

There, that ought to cover it.

Can't you kill off goblins in the Newbie-hunt link-mission?

But for thunderdrakes, you're on your own, buddy. I got nothing there for ya. I can't find one at this point (being the point I'm at, with 295 missions completed) in my game either. Hope you manage to find a later-on thunderdrake somewhere.

There are no later Thundrakes. And, while you can kill Goblins in the link mission, I don't think you can capture them in that mission.

DAMN. I was hoping that you could. I guess that file will go unfulfilled...
