What's the big deal with Resident Evil 4?

Was I only one who didn't think it was the life altering game so many magazines said it was? I mean it was fine, it was fun at times, but nothing at all special to me. I never was scared and the story was incredibly uninteresting. The gameplay was ok I guess nothing really gripped me. I felt the same way about Halo, what's the big deal that people lose their mind over these games. Am I the only one?

It didnt change my life but, I personally loved it, I thought it was entertaining from beginning to end, and Leon has to be one of the best main characters ever to me in any game. The boss battles were great, and I like how open it was in terms of game play. The reason it is praised so much is because 2005 was a very down year in gaming, and RE4 was by far the best game put out.

Hands in the air - we lost a lot of the fear in the older RE games. Well, until we came across Mr. Regenerator, of course, but him aside there wasn't much fear.

There was, however, some of the most incredible, pulse-pounding action gameplay I have ever seen. The controls were near-flawless. The graphics are still amazing today, unless you've got a top-of-the-line PC. The little touches, the extras like Mercenaries mode, pretty much everything about it was amazingly well done.

Except for Luis not being the main character. That would have made it the best game ever.

I really liked this game, It changed the series, in a way, that (may not have been for the better for some people but) was best for me. I also really thought the weapons, action button, and main character were all great, It should definitely be considered as one of the best games of 2005. Also it was good for the GameCube to show off its great (and often underestimated) graphical power.

I'll agree with Halo 2 being overrated because there are faaaaaaaaaar better shooters out there.

I have to give RE4 props because of how much it has changed. I wan't really scared of the game either, but I felt like I was playing a non-stop action movie. It entertained me a lot.
