In the opening FMV on the Origins version of FFI, There is a man shown with a crystal, cape and horned helmit fighting a dragon. I always just asumed it was a Light Warrior and didnt think much of it because the FMV was based on amano's artwork and ussualy does not bare much resemblence to the in game graphics. but recently I came across a website claiming this mysterious warrior to be Garland. I could see how he could make this connection being the warrior has a horned helmit and armor but if you look at some of the other artwork it shows light warriors with the same gear. Could someone please clear up this confusion for me? Is it Garland or a Light Warrior in the scene?

I'm pretty sure it's a Light Warrior. He looks like the Fighter/Knight.

I read somewhere (I think in the manual) that it's Garland

I thought it was said somewhere that the man was a Light Warrior. Besides, he has a crystal orb, and there's a never a moment in the game where Garland is even close to fighting a dragon. The only thing Garland does is threaten to "knock you all down", but he gets pwned by the Light Warriors. Twice.

EDIT: When you beat FF1 Origins and get the photo galleries, one of the pictures is called "The Light and the Darkness". It has the man who fought the dragon, and a dark knight standing behind him. My guess would be that the man is the Light Warrior ("The Light") and the dark knight is Garland ("The Darkness"). In addition, if you beat the game twice to get additional photos, there's a picture called "Time Traveler", and it looks like the same dark knight as the one in "The Light and the Darkness" picture. I think this indicates that Garland has his own character art, and he's not the man from the opening FMV.

It's a Warrior of Light. Indisputable, really.

Yeah I assumed it was a light warrior too because alot of the offical artwork shows the light warriors in the same kind of armor and the fact that he has an orb or crystal also is kind of a give away I just figured I would see what you guys have to say because alot of people think it is Garland because of the damn horned armor/headgear

It's most definitely a light warrior. Garland doesn't have a crystal, he doesn't wear light blue armor, and he also has most likely never fought a dragon in his pathetic existence. perhaps when he is Chaos this (the dragon-fighting part) is possible, for then he is at least sort of strong. But the opening CG depicts a light warrior, no doubt.

i heard someone call him Garland too, but come on!!

there's no way it's Garland. is there any Amano art work of Garland??(just curious)

the Amano-art-work Fighter/warrior and the FMV guy are definetly one in the same. especially cos of his crystal

he's not Garland, so everyone stop being dumb

It's a light warrior. The crystal makes it non-debatable.

Ok, first of all Garland does wear light blue armor and second of all fighters dont wear horned helmets.

Not in the game no, but they do in the official artwork. This proves that the man in the intro and logo is figter.

Besides, come on, a hero slaying a dragon is standard rpg fare. why on earth would they have it be garland? It's seriously not debatable.
